  1. I know exactly what you mean, Outback, but they need to sacrifice a little freeform gameplay in order to give the players direction to prevent it getting boring.
  2. Yeah, thanks for your concern, but in future, please PM or email the details to a developer, rather than releasing them publicly.
  3. I hated them in GTA 2 , although they were easy(ish) to spot because they always wore red (and carjackers always wore green, if I remember rightly).
  4. I hope they show a GTA3 teaser at some point. While they won't admit to what is / isn't included in the core, it'll be interesting to see what they'd done with the limitations of the engine. Anyway, regarding the VC teaser: 1. If that's the new interface, all I can say is wow . Whilst the current client interface serves its purpose, it's not particularly user-friendly or attractive, so this would be a massive improvement. Also, it may well mean that we don't even need to use ASE or the client's interface any more in order to join a game. LAN querying is appreciated too (ASE does it as well, but it's hidden in the menu so that not many people know about it). Such a user-friendly interface will cut n00b questions on the forums in half. In fact, I may even be so bold as to claim that the MTA interface is a lot more preferable to the default Vice City one. 2. Everyone's commented on the number of skins, but no-one seems to have mentioned the number of players - that is definitely not 26. 3. "MTA Blue" - that's a strange name. Does this mean that there are other colours available, or even that it's able to be modified? 4. I also like the new logo (if that is the new logo) that starts off the video - it's so much more.... badass, if you know what I mean. I also noticed on the final "revolution" screen that it said "More information coming soon". I hope so Edit: Also, the teaser file is called "teaser1", implying that there will be more (fingers crossed).
  5. To the devs: If I had a pound for every time that question had been asked... Is there any way of detecting the version automatically, or perhaps asking the user the first time they run it (so that they can't miss it) which version they are running?
  6. Yeah, as trx says, apparently they had difficulty making it work with 0.4 and weren't even going to include it, but they got it working at the last minute. It explains why it's exactly the same (that's not necessarily a bad thing), and also why GTA3 doesn't have a stunt mode.

    Teaser

Which video codec are you guys using to view this video? I can get sound, but no visuals. If I select properties in Media Player, it says it uses "DivX Decoder Filter", which I have (via the K-Lite Codec Pack). Also, GSpot says that I have the correct codec, yet it still doesn't play.

    MTA 0.4.1 Released

NO, you didn't Well... if that's your complaint, please give a detailed description of the problem (plus your system specs) so that they can fix it. How are they supposed to sort problems out if you don't say what they are?
  9. It's not really "MTA scripting" - it's mIRC scripting that you need to learn. You also need to download MTAMA (available in the downloads section). Also, the Add-Ons forum will be helpful.
  10. It's not necessarily a problem your end. If your friends could connect before and now can't, all I can think of is that they haven't upgraded their clients to 0.4.1. I can't see it being anything else if it worked before.
  11. Hmmm.... that seems a little unforgiving. Have you ever tried driving at the same speed as other traffic, stopping at the lights and obeying all the rules, etc, without falling asleep? It's impossible, I assure you.
  12. I think one of the devs once defined the core as the code that interfaces directly with GTA.
  13. I think it went up from 40% to 50% at round about the time when MTA 0.4 went from 70% to 80%, which wasn't that long ago (about 3 months or so). And how can they possibly spend lots of time on the core if they've just released MTA 0.4 and are now sorting out the issues with it? I know that they have a few team members working on it, but the recent release is the current priority. Also, am I correct in thinking that, even if the core went up to 100% today, the team would still need to spend time designing a client around the core?
  14. Does this happen every time? I sometimes get a crash with GTA3:MTA when I die or kill someone else, but only occasionally. What happens is that XP is set by default to restart every time it encounters an exception error (to prevent newbies from seeing the scary messages). This can be switched off in the System control panel applet.
  15. Does that mean that they get chased by the police too? It's really annoying that gangs can get away with shooting at your car, yet you can't shoot at them without getting the police after you.
  16. One question I have is: Are a lot of the problems due to GTA3 using the 0.3 core that was designed for Vice City?
  17. Ah, that would explain it. (I also had the "walking against the side of the vehicle" bug too.)
  18. I knew that they (temporarily) removed weather syncing because it caused so many freezes in 0.4, but the time thing is new to me.
  19. Yeah, that's what I mean - the team should add that option.
  20. This is kind of included in GTA3, via the Turismo mode, which fires every day at 2:00 pm. Pedestrians / traffic are impossible due to lag reasons. I'm not sure about the cops. I'm not sure about that, because those aren't features that are actually in the game. However, if MTA make a version for San Andreas, you may well see that.
  21. Yeah, that's because it works for both.

    DOOM 3

Yeah, you can. But it won't play as well as a GeForce 6800 because id Software are in league with Nvidia. Btw, John = John Carmack, lead programmer of id Software and worldwide nerd rolemodel. Great guy. Also, if you're not sure whether to buy it or not, Telefragged has the first online review: http://www.telefragged.com/reviews/doom3/
  23. I don't think you need to worry about that sort of thing with legitimate, established companies. I think there are laws against that kind of thing. The only thing I get from them is the Fileplanet newsletter, and that's only because I opted to receive it. What annoys me though is that the download queues are so long.
  24. So are you saying that the problem is less likely to occur on a more powerful PC?
  25. Well, with that in mind, there's a mod called GTAT that should be right up your street... Great features, except you can't take advantage of them because it crashes before you have a chance to have any fun. You wouldn't be able to play the game for "a long while" because it would crash so often. The trouble is, when you add new features, you increase the number of things that can (and often will) go wrong. This means that it becomes increasingly harder to narrow bugs down. The best way is to get everything working perfectly and then add a feature. If it crashes, you know for sure that it's the new feature.
