Thanks guys for the enhanced stability. It's a pity that some features had to be sacrificed though (e.g the weather sync in GTA3 and the new character selection screen in VC). Will these make a comeback in a later patch, or will we have to wait for a later core?

Does 0.4 Edit like . the game "for ever" like . even when mta inst open? It backs up the file, and then restores it when it's finished. However, what happens if MTA crashes?

There are a lot of n00b admins about - I can see that getting abused.

I think it's just the Microsoft "Send error report dialog", which would mean that there was an exception error. Are you sure you don't have a cracked client or anything? That's all I can think of that it could possibly be, because most crashes occur when you start the game, not when you start the client.

The Vice City loading screen comes up because the new character selection screen shows previews of the spawn points, so it needs to load up the relevant areas of the map. Are you sure it actually crashes, or does it just take a long time (slow PC?)?

I have absolutely no problems at all with 9.0c, the only difference being that I'm running XP SP2 beta. I don't know what the redist one is like.

I know, OT: You realize in the patch center theirs FTP downloads which go at 200kb/s and on top of that, their were patch bundles right up to the recent patches 197,198,199, and 200 (current patch level) That means their have only been 41 patches since NA release (Patching started on NA client at 160, which was bugged and simply needed to be redownloaded due to an error with the burning of discs) Over-exaggeration! (I had a capped Private Eye on Pluto and have a character on every server, will be capping a GenTank in the next week in place of my PE who I had for over a year ) On Topic now, the bandwidth bug is in need of fixing, more then you probaly realize 1. I have no problems doing this on my Win Me machine, but I got loads of input lag (and at one point an "out of virtual memory" error) whilst doing it on XP, presumably because of all of the services (read: "crap") that run with XP.

Yep, VC has a spawning bug at the moment. I think the current "fix" is to alternate between classes (e.g. spawn once as the Mexican, then the Sailor, the the Mexican again). Hopefully this will be addressed in the upcoming patch.

The Aussie version has been censored, and so the exe is different. For some reason, this causes incompatibilities with MTA (though I'm not sure why GTA3 works). The only way to fix it is to obtain a non-censored exe file.

This one: Car killing has one distinct benefit: your victims drop their weapons, which is useful if you only have a pistol and can't afford to buy any weapons. It's very tempting to car kill if you're in that situation because the outcome of a fight with pistol vs shotgun will, 9 times out of 10, be won by the guy with the shotgun. Verdict: There should be more ways to make money (yes, I know there's Turismo, but that only happens once every game day, and only one person can win).
