There were some problems with the Australian version of VC and MTA because they had censored the game, and I know that Germany has strict censorship laws as well, so this could be the problem.
-
No... exceptions are usually caused by memory problems. I think it may be due to MTA overwriting GTA's memory locations which GTA then tries to write to... maybe. This should be of interest to you: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/question288.htm

Hopefully they'll have it patched by then, so there'd be no problem.

No, I was driving around not far fromt it, not just waiting there. The hotspots had already been created by the time I arrived. Was I supposed to pull into the first one, and not a random one in the middle of the road?

Where are the .04 servers? Please post them here. :)
orappa replied to a topic in General GTA3:MTA 0.4 Discussion
Because ASE haven't updated their filters yet, all MTA 0.4 servers will be listed in the "Other" section (below 0.1). -
When you say "crashes", do you mean it freezes or comes up with an error dialog?
-
All I pressed was enter. I then used the scroll wheel to change the radio station, so perhaps that had something to do with it.

connect, game screen comes up--> crash (unhandled exception)

1) I have nearly 400 games in my room, and I never have any trouble. It's called organisation 2) Don't play the game until you have enough money to buy a new drive then. DERP?? 3) No, it's possible. It just needs to be really deep though, or lots of them concentrated in one area. 5) By that logic, you can't tell me that I can't tell people what to do -
No, no, no!!!! If you have UDP and drop a packet, no problem - you'd just jump across the screen slightly. If you use TCP, it would keep sending the message until it arrives at its destination, where, by that time, it's probably no longer relevant. Yes, gameplay would be super-smooth, but we'd all need T1 connections to use it. They could possibly use TCP for the chat system though.

Are you running Admin+ as well? Don't forget that Admin+ takes up the same bandwidth as a normal player, so that would explain why your ping was sky-high.
-
Actually, your graphics card is pretty crap (I've got an FX 5900, btw). I can't run GTA in high res, and I have to run Battlefield: Vietnam in ultra-low quality (800x600x16, Minimum detail) in order to get decent framerates (in conjunction with an Athlon XP 2400+). This is probably something to do with the MTA client taking up more system resources.
-
It's exactly the same as playing online. Just fire up a server (remember to switch ASE reporting off) and connect to it from other machines using it's local IP. If you wish to play on the machine that's the server, type "localhost" instead of an IP.

This is a tiny bug, but it could puzzle a newbie. I've noticed that all of the shortcuts that the MTA installer installs to the Start Menu seem to have their "Start in" parameter set to ""C:\Program Files\Multi Theft Auto\ServerAdmin"". This can cause a couple of errors when launching from shortcuts, such as if you click the server, it cannot load the configuration file because it's looking in the wrong folder for it. Tiny error, I know, but an error nonetheless.

What do you mean by "fixed"? Are you implying that it's still possible to exploit?
-
They took a while to patch the server (ages ago) from 0.3 to 0.3.1 (about 3 weeks, it must have been), but then again, Bump said that they know exactly what the problem is this time around. However, I'd expect that they'd fix some of the smaller, easier bugs at the same time too.

I was playing with a friend and we were in the same car. He's a crap driver and managed to drive into the sea. I saw it coming and tried to get out but was too slow and drowned (he drowned inside the car, I drowned outside it), and it accused us killing each other (but we got points for it, so that wasn't bad ). I've also managed to score whilst not actually being in game. I had a similar issue to yours last night, error404, only it was with Vice City.
-
I don't remember left-clicking. I think I was right-clicking to activate the car scanner.
-
Ah, whilst trying to justify my answer, I realised that I'd got the wrong end of the stick, as it were, when the problem was explained.
-
I also tried to get into a car at a later date, pressed enter and got in the passenger seat (there was no-one else in the car), so maybe that's what happened before (I was entering the vehicle from the right, and the controls are on the left (damn American cars )), but this never happens in SP - he just moves across to the other seat.
-
Yep, it just happened again. I was driving around, waiting for Turismo to start and got there about 2 secs after the countdown began. I waited in line and it crashed again (although I don't think the camera got as high as it did before). I've played Turismo with no problems when I arrive later.
-
Weird... could you use the chat function? When I tested it out on my Win Me machine, that's what happened to me, only that's to be expected because it's not a supported OS.
-
I think it would fix (or at least, reduce) the colour bug with GTA3 also.

Does anyone know if the new GTA4 will come with online
orappa replied to chewEboy's topic in General MTA:VC
I wish other people would take that approach *cough* True Crime *cough* This article may interest you: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/ ... ry.php(que)id=100101 -
Not to mention the Turismo mode - it stops it becoming boring after a while. Oh, and thanks, Mr.B It's strange how I never found that after searching for "dodo" and "dodos".
-
Well... I did search and couldn't find much, only these: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=119285#119285 http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=18261 (quite old, so probably not relevant)
