  1. I think that's only if you have multiple network adapters, and you need to specify which one you want to use (i.e. it most likely doesn't apply to you).
  2. It sounds like you have a router or a firewall running. If so, you need to open port 2003.
  3. It would be good if the map also showed the locations of stunt ramps, as sometimes I'm driving around for ages before I find one.
  4. XP Pro is just XP Home with a few extra features that would be of more interest to businesses than home users.
  5. The team have said that they're too busy overcoming technical barriers to spend a lot of time tuning the gameplay. If they'd tried to balance the weapons in VC, we'd still be waiting for 0.4 now.
  6. Modding isn't currently allowed. The reason for this is that it's buggy enough already without extra stuff being added to confuse things further. However, if you are bored of VC, you could always try GTA3.
  7. Quality not quantity, too many cooks spoil the broth, etc.
  8. hmm, 0.3 worked good, 0.5 doesn't, now where's the improvement? Well, if you're looking at it from that point of view, MTA 0.3 crashed a lot less than 0.4. However, because of the extra features they added, I'd say without a doubt that 0.4 was an improvement on 0.3.
  9. Nope. Sniper rifles aren't synchronised.
  10. That's probably better. MouseJail requires you to specify the exe file via command-line parameters, which'll work great for single player, but not when gta3.exe is being executed by MTA.
  11. Does this happen on every server? I think some servers may have an "idling" script that kicks inactive players.
  12. No-one in their right mind would offer a game server for free. It takes up loads of bandwidth and there's no real way of making money (unlike free webhosting, where you can display ads on the pages).
  13. Yeah, not only are you more secure, but others are too because your PC is less likely to become a "zombie" and used for DDOS's or passing on viruses, etc. Oh, and mtanoob, try this article: http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstream_01.htm If it's not much good, search Google for "slipstream" and "xp"

    Teaser

I don't understand... is that significant?
  15. Don't forget that Windows XP has a built-in firewall.
  16. It sounds like you have a firewall running. Depending on the type of firewall, you'll have to either of the following: 1. Allow traffic on port 2003 (or whichever port the server you're trying to connect to uses) 2. Allow all traffic from and to MTAClient.exe
  17. Try this utility: http://www.dr-hoiby.com/MouseJail/index.php
  18. You said it sucks twice, yet you haven't come up with any reasons why.
  19. What's wrong with PHPBB? The purpose of having a forum is for discussion. PHPBB accomplishes this without any unnecessary bells and whistles. (Also, the team aren't made of money)
  20. You need to connect to a server before you can change the game (it will auto-detect which one it is when you join). To find servers, use the All Seeing Eye server browser, available from: http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html
  21. Computer and Video Games.com has loads of info on SA: Link 1: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/ ... ry.php(que)pid=20040810175932 Link 2: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/ ... ry.php(que)nid=20040804170000 Hmm... I'm not sure about that last one... Link 3: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/ ... ry.php(que)nid=20040803174200

    MTA over LAN?

Yep, sure you can. Playing over a network is no different to playing over the net. First of all, you fire up the server. You then start up MTA and type localhost instead of an IP address to specify that you want to connect to yourself. Your friend then fires up MTA and types your machines local IP into the box. To find out this address, type (on your machine) cmd at the Start > Run prompt. When the DOS window appears, type ipconfig and press enter. Your address will be listed under "IP Address", and your friend types that address into his client.
  23. You need to open port 2003 (or whatever one that particular server uses - 2003's the default one), or else allow all connections by MTAClient.exe (depending on which brand of firewall you use).

    Dreams

It's because the brain pretty much shuts off (except for the essential fuctions of course). When you think about it, it just shows how important sleep is for the brain. When man wasn't at the top of the food chain, it would have been extremely dangerous to be paralysed in that way with regards to predators.
  25. It looks like you've got a firewall running.
