  1. Exactly. Normal ground in Vice City is at height: 10.0. The 'rings' are at 260.0 - 300.0. So you have reached the maximum helicopter altitude instantly, when going there. Funny eh =)
  2. Yes, ofcourse. How could we forget to balance it for the players who have no skills? Uhm.. let me see.. A tank? some Miniguns, armor to 999 and health to 999 and, did I forget anything? Ah ofcourse: Mr. Jetpack. Anything else?
  3. This is a known issue, and technically not a bug. It's just that there were a lot of problems when a player joins a server with players on it, to receive all the updates of the other players so far. We therefore gave the initial skinchanging less priority. So basically, when you join a game, all the players who are in there and haven't respawned do not have the proper skin. You can tell by looking at their radar dot color, and If it doesn't match, they haven't respawned. So kill them and make sure they have. =) Then their skin will be properly sychronized. *shrugs*

  5. Yes, Although I have posted the GXT keys that needed translation, no-one ever picked it up. I think we could release a stand alone doewnload for the GXT in different languages. But for now, I'd say put it on english, so you will encounter the least problems while playing MTA 0.2
  6. It is too late to change what has been coded for 0.2, but I have given it some more thought, as obviously, all of you like the ability to see if someone was using a vehicle. I can only use 6 different colors, not counting black and white, which are extremely hard to notice on the radar. I therefore would suggest the following: Normal size markers for people in vehicles, and smaller ones for people on foot. That's pretty much the only solution left, though. EDIT: except for blinking dots, lol. But were not going to turn the radar into a christmas tree.
  7. if and when we decide to alter the weapons specs, it will not be very hard to do so. You people shouldn't worry about it at all. We know that the original weapons need to be tweaked, and that 0.2 will most likely not be perfectly balanced, though mrBump and I have done some testing and didn't want to deprive players of certain weapons. Just wait and see, I guess.
  8. The radar dots colorchange was added for debugging purposes, but we decided to leave it in because it couldn't hurt. In 0.2, the colors no longer indicates a player's in/out vehicle status, but shows which occupation a player chose at the spawn menu. Cop show as blue dots, Robbers darkred, etc.
  9. That's something I'd like to know as well. =( Been trying to contact the team, to check what status we are currently at. (been off for about a week, busy at work ) But it seems the entire multitheftauto.com domain is down. Just when I have a couple of hours to help them out. bah.
  10. Sorry people, that was my mistake. Police cars are initially locked, so I unlocked them. I completely forgot about the new police car thats gets created when it respawns, so it needs to be manually unlocked as well. My apologies, and yes, this will be fixed in 0.2, slush has made sure I wouldn't forget. =P

  12. Although we have succesfully tested one boat, it was too late to change the code required to have more boats. More than that, boats take up potential vehicle space. We're still not happy with the amount of vehicles we can place, and land transportation is more important at this stage. We're hoping to include several boats for next release(s).

  14. We have thought about this as well, but it hasn't come to development yet. I agree that something like that will have to be implemented someday. It's rather unnerving to have your vehicle stolen by a joiner when you are in the middle of something. Also, although we did find a way to create 100 vehicles on the map, we are currently restricted to using 'only' 80, due to another (new) limit. Rest assured, that we will add more vehicles as soon as we can. Ofcourse, these vehicles will be more evenly divided over the islands.
  15. All you have to do is press enter if you want to join the same 'gang' again, since it will remember your previous choice.
  16. Trows, I wanted to use those models too, but decided not to, since they have gun models attached to their hands at all times =(. Stupid R*, those models would've kicked ass.
  17. I would like to correct this a little bit, it seems blokker hasn't been testing with us lately, so I'll clarify the current status of this spawn interface. When you start a new game or when you die you will be presented with the spawn interface menu, you can then select from 6 different characters/classes. Your selection decides where you spawn, and what you will look like, as well as which weapons you start out with. We have randomized your appearance dependant on what character/class you select. For instance, if you select a cop, you will either appear as tommy in a police uniform or as lance in a police uniform.
  18. Wrong forum. Try http://www.gtaforums.com. I can already tell you that it has nothing to do with the GTA3.ini, but with GTA3's main.scm. You will have to start learning an scm programming language, by using the Mission Builder, or gta Mission Assembler. Disabling the traffic and the pedestrians just takes two lines of code.
  19. This was most likely caused by LAG. On your screen, you hit the motorcycle, but the one on the motorcycle never saw you hit him, or just you missing him by inches. But, motorcycles do tend to be glued to the street somehow. In single player, I've had a FBI Rancher land ontop of me and my pcj while going at very high speed. It pushed my bike completely down, but I didn't fall off, nor did I loose much speed.

    I think Allyson has now learned from his action, and his ban should be removed. It's not like he was actually impersonating a developer, he just named his nick that way. First, because he wanted to see if it was possible at all, and second, to see what kind of reactions he would receive. I can assume now, that he didn't like the reaction he received from Mr.Bump. I'd like to stress though, that it is common sense NOT to use a developer nick, and the other way around, I never use my dev nick on public servers. The fact that it is POSSIBLE to use a developer nick should not be solved in this manner. I think for next release, certain nicks/words should be excluded from being entered. It is something we have obviously overlooked, and should not seek to punish anyone else but ourselves. There will always be people who will experiment with these things, and other people who really are trying to exploit. Let's just take this as a lesson, and hopefully, we have all learned from it.

    Bullet distances

    Because of its range and power, it might be an option to use the M-60 as a sniper rifle for now, since we still can't use sniper rifles. Have an M-60 with 10 bullets? Anyways the M-60 is way too powerful for 'normal' use, so it will be used as either sniper (low ammow) or it will disssapear from the game, OR we could alter the damages done by weapons. Suggestions?
  22. That's odd. It *shouldn't* crash, but I guess it does for some people. If the people who have had this crash would be so kind to tell me what resolution they are playing on, what video card they use, I might be able to simulate the crash and find a cure for it. I think it might be the backgrounds for the text (they grey transparent line). None of the Devs have this problem, so what I could do, is send test-scm's to people who have this problem, so I can find out when it will be running stable. It may not sound important to have a help area, but we intend to use similar text drawing on screen at several places, so a fix will be needed, or some people will not be able to play at all.
  23. Nice work petebog, but I'm not sure we plan on using 'new' models for MTA, keep up the good work though , and we might reconsider it. =)
  24. When you play MTA, DO NOT USE REPLAYS! They will change the memory, and therefore you will either crash or desynch from the game.
