  1. Reloading is currently not synched. One tip I can give for coping with it, it not to release the firebutton when you see your character reload. Just keep firing, there is a good chance your actor in the game will keep firing and reload its weapon at an other time.
  2. All secondary aim weapons are not synchronized yet. -this includes the Rocket Launcher as well.

    Good point about losing hitpoints in a crash, but probably not possible for a while. Btw, if you fall far enough you actually do die. The problem is in getting high enough....
  6. Its not the first time this has come up, and I too think it would be a vast improvement of weapon selecting. I never really thought that the scrollwheel was a good idea, but for singleplayer it doesnt matter that much. In Multiplayer however, if you can't 'find' the proper weapon you want to use in time, you'll either be dead or otherwise at an disadvantage. I've looked into doing it myself, but the Engine does not have enough free keys to assign, so it must be hacked in, like we do with 't'alk key. You will understand that this is very low priority, since weapon switching already works, but I'm sure we'll fix it at some point.
  7. Yes. This is something we have no control over (yet?). So it means you'll just have to use the radar and the 'look behind' button more often. It's actually pretty exciting, duelling with a car while on foot. Unlike GTA1, it is possible to jump over a car heading for you at great speed, increasing your chances. Fear the vehicles...
  8. You're right KungFu. By default, you cannot bail from a moving vehicle in GTA3. I think MrBump may be mistaken by the fact that we manually implemented this for our previous version of MTA for GTA3. We may or may not include this code for 0.4, not decided. Personally, with the way things are now in GTA3 (very different playstyle than VC) I'd say keep it as original (not being able to get out at highspeeds makes killing someone who is in a car easier, which is more balanced since cars in GTA3 kill much quicker than those in VC). The passenger however, is always free to leave the vehicle, even at topspeed.

  10. During the tests, we simply type 'gunsgunsguns' so we get all weapons, including the rocketlauncher. This doesn't mean the weapon is actually synchronized. We haven't been able to get it working yet, so be aware that not everything in the dev-videos represents actual release content. As for running people over with a vehicle and they die: I think thats wonderful. Makes the game more hardcore even, and reminds me a lot of gta1 multiplay, which has to be the most intense multiplaying I've ever done. (Not counting the stressy games of StarCraft I've played =P ) Personally, I wouldn't mind to create gta3 in the MP style of gta1. -Revive the old days =D (True, we need to get the rockets working to recapture that sheer threat of instant death)
  11. We still have some important gameplay issues to resolve for gta3: mta 0.4. Dont worry, it's coming soon.
  12. First off, this is a GTA3 thread, so there will be none of those characters in gta3:mta 0.4. Second, your character can only 'dress up' as certain characters, and unfortunately the characters you named will also not be available for mta:vc.
  13. Severe collision problems occur when clients are using different gta3.img in the same game. Don't use altered models online. Install a different version of VC for local play, if you can't live without modded vehicles.
  14. Actually, you are probably running Windows XP Professional without any upgrades. There has been a patch released by Microsoft which fixes this problem. The filename of this patch is "Q306676_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe" Where ENU stands for the English version, so get the version matching the language of your Windows XP installation. It's usually a good thing to keep your OS updated, so you might want to get Service Pack 1 completely.

We already know it's possible to cheat in MTA, so there is no point in accusing people of it anymore: Most people will try it out at some point or another, if only out of curiosity. I have no doubts about MrBump knowing who he is kicking, it's not hard to see why you got kicked with your big mouth.
  16. Cars will be more numerous, varied, and spread out over the play area. Cops might not make it in next version of mta for gta3. There just isn't enough functional to give you guys specific details, so stay tuned and be patient please.

Because we have experienced some difficulties with the older versions of mta when traveling to one part of the city to another (say Portland to Staunton), we will most likely be using only one part (probably Portland) for the next release of mta for gta3. Also, because of the limited number of vehicles gta allows us to use, it's probably best for the gameplay not to devide the vehicles we have over all three parts of the city. About the spawning and selecting a spawn location, this is ofcourse possible, but I don't think people will want to select a location every time they spawn. We will therefore keep using the randomized spawnpoints, like the Vice City Crusader in MTA:VC 0.2.
  18. It depends on the mods installed, but I think it would work. Try to keep one version of GTA Vice City clean and modify the other, so you can switch easier between private (LAN) play and Internet play.

  20. Ok people, it's not like we turned off the weapons for the Hunter, we never got them working yet, same as drive-by's. The main problem with the Hunter IF we get it working is that the reload of missiles is extremely fast and you get an unlimited amount. Then the auto-aim of the M-60 also makes it very hard to balance this vehicle's weapons. The hunter's weapons are not a priority, we have more important things to worry about. I do agree it would be a nice feature to have them working. As for hanging out the side of a copter while being able to fire handheld weapons is a feature that may be possible, and I will look into this code in the future.
  21. Hmm. Changing the .dff models around may not be as harmless as you think, because some models will not display correctly, and could crash your system. Possibly crash other systems as well, since collision may not be the same for both clients, but I'm not sure. (I am sure about cars having this probem) Why don't you just change the .txd so they look different anyways without much conflicts.   22. Try to disable (or lower) hardware accelleration for the soundcard, then in gta vc sound options, select the simplest playback. You should then at least hear the apropriate sounds, but they're not processed to reflect the surroundings. Hope it helps you.

People WILL abuse this information, this much has become very clear in the past.
