  1. Packers outrun cheetah's and even pcj's at times. FPS can be an issue as well as lag.

    Team Killing

We actually did mean for teamplay when we implemented the class choice, but apparently, GTA is a game which brings out the beast in most people, and they just want to shoot at anything that moves or doesn't move. I have also caught myself going frenzy on 'team-members', so It might not actually be a good idea to have this many teams. Maybe keep the cops and robbers, and have more different FFA classes?
  3. We are really looking to make the game more stable, before we can think about adding game modes. A lot of game modes/suggestions have been made already, most of them very wortwhile and interesting. When we start adding game modes, I'm pretty sure not many of you will be looking for new things to add. Suggestions are always welcome, but to be honest, I don't really look at that part of the forum as much as I did before, since I'm already chockfull of ideas about what to implement for missions, or just things to do for fun. As for our current release, you will not be able to add more code since first of all, you'd need to synchronize between clients the gamedata/status, and second, there simply is no room left in the scm. We're working on a complete rewrite of the scm to allow for extra code, but like mentioned above already, stability before gameplay.
  4. I dunno, maybe leave a small weight on the key? =P Nope there is no way to enable it at startup yet.
  5. Actually it isnt the collision with water that is causing the problems, it is the memory in which the vehicle adress is stored
  6. If I read that correctly, you try to start a new game before you start the MTA client? If so, you have the wrong approach. You should first start the MTA client, then after connecting to a server, you click 'Start Game' on the client itself. Then you start new game. It would also help to read the manual.
  7. Right. No mods. If you want to mod, goto http://www.gtaforums.com. But then you will not be able to play MTA with a modded version.
  8. Funny you guys think this roof is mysterious... The Cheetah is there to shield you from the damage the spawn actors would do to you. =P So you know. Now DON'T GO UP THERE AGAIN! It is very dangerous. Should you fall off, you might get hurt. =)
  9. Omg. Ask you dad, fatphil. ..installing the user files.. You really have no clue, so best to let someone with brains handle it.
  10. It's quite unnerving in Wolfenstein and other games to have a TK'er on your team which renames himself to your nick. I don't think it's a good idea at all to allow for this.
  11. The traffic normally generated by the Vice City engine does not tell the scm which car is which, so you will never be able to check for what car you want to enter as passenger. All the cars in MTA are created manually, which will allow to check if your player is within range of a particular car, and if so, is he pressing the correct key at the same time. Using some scm coding, it is quite possible to be driven around by AI, which is good fun, but serves no purpose to MTA.
  12. OK, you are all wrong, hahah. Just Kidding The additional (map)models you see were installed by the GTAT mod. Not by MTA:VC 0.2. They have nothing to do with the mta.scm/main.scm, since that file doesn't hold the map data (although it IS possible to add models via scm, it is not the correct procedure). The actual map data is stored in the *.ipl files, and these files use models which are packed into the gta3.img, which you need an extractor for to edit. Also, it is possible some *.col files were added or edited to enable collision for those new models. Obviously, GTAT has pretty much installed/changed more to the game than they tell you in the documents. Although you have not experienced problems with it, I recommend to install a clean version of GTA Vice City, because removing this manually or letting a programm loose on it to uninstall the modifications might severely damage your current installation. As to your point in making changes to the maps in order to cheat, they are noted, and will be processed by the team.
  13. He means the Yardie Lobo EDIT: thats is a GTA3 car hehe I forget VC's name for it, I think. And I don't know why It's not in the game. We had to make a selection of vehicles, and when we reached the limit, we had a bunch of cars we thought would be varied. There is no Blista Compact and BF Injection, either. Probably more, but I can't be bothered to look them up right now. I haven't heard many complaints about vehicle models and placing, except for the obvious boats. -And no one even posted about the toys yet =P. No toys and boats (including water-aircraft) for the time being, people.
  14. The constant braking is an issue we have been unable to resolve, various suggestions were made toward fixing that, but nothing has helped so far. We will (ofcourse) continue to investigate this matter.
  15. Ok, people. I am willing to release a new(er) mta.scm, to enable the skinsupport from the beginning on. It may or may not increase the amount of bugs you people experience. I will discuss it with the rest of the team soon.
  16. I voted yes. I still like GTA3 a lot, possibly more than VC even. Sure, the lack of motorcycles and heli's is a pity, but there is the Dodo. Furthermore, Portland is just a kickass map and Staunton Island is allright for good road racing. And in GTA3 the cars handle a little bit more realistic.
  17. Sorry people, the studio and stage are not accesible at this point.
  18. It works better on low ping servers, or LAN.
  19. Hello! =) We're not sure yet. We are planning things like: what are we going to work on, and who will be working on what. Please be patient, I have a feeling that we will pick up on GTA3, and continue VC at the same time, but ofcourse, we can only do so much with the time provided.
  20. Yes, the brakes are always on, this is giving the skidmarks, and is also casuing some of the lag you experience when being passenger. If you would fly as passenger in a helicopter, you would see that it is still jerky to some degree, even though the handbrake for the helicopter is not enabled (trust me =P). It is most likely caused by lag, which you would normally see from much further away (with your brains filling in a LOT of jerkyness most of the time) I've noticed when you put the camera on Cinematic Mode, it looks much better again. (because of the distance)

    Help?

Oh that. Yes, that was what prevented me from falling in love with them instantly. =)
  22. These are map mods, and do not cause conflict with collision files.
  23. I agree, the gloomy atmosphere in GTA3 is very nice, and I still prefer it over GTA Vice City. Although the games are basically the same, development for GTA:VC has exceeded that of GTA3 by far. GTA3 will take a lot of work to complete to the point VC is at this moment.

    Help?

I do not agree, Rockstar has captured the controlling of helicopters most excellently. Yes, It takes some time to get used to, (like Gta3's Dodo) but it's well worth getting the hang of it. Remapping the keys is certainly useful.
  25. It has to do with the amount of vehicles and actors loaded into the memory, there are 80 vehicles and 32 actors. Which is much more then you'll ever see in Single Player.
