  1. What kinda stupid reply is that? Are you actually saying you deliberately lowered the max poll slots to 5 just cause that usually isn't an exceeded number? How about you set a 1000 max chars per post limit too since most posts are less than that? BTW this is only one of the things that makes no sense in this msg board...
  2. K, well since we got that down, lemme ask something that's relatively irrelevant: I told my ASE to delete all servs with 100% PL a few days ago and it just so happened it didn't see the 18 player official at the time. Now I've refreshed a good few times since then, but I still don't see it. Is it still down? Is it up but hides from me? Am I going crazy? Is reality only what the matrix tells me? What's the meaning of life if you don't have green underwear?
  3. Heh yeah, saw that myself yesterday and I thought "wtf?". I wanted to post about it, but I went on and played some on TmM's serv and forgot. Serv's stats according to ASE: what work|9999ms|69.93.1.46:2003. Seems dead now. Dunno, maybe it's a prank, maybe it's a hacked serv just to show that (there's a really useful trick ), or maybe serv admins report max player capacity in a manual way to ASE and this one was set to 100 deliberately. Anyway just an eyebrow raiser if you ask me, nothing more.
  4. Out of all this I've got a question myself: Deuce is a french word o_0? WTF?!?
  5. Okay, that's one down. Now you say your pc generally reboots when you try to start the game, which suggests a possible GFX card drivers problem. If the pc is yours, or you have admin rights over it, download and upgrade them to their latest version. BTW does single player GTA:VC run ok for you?
  6. Only yours is 9 times its filesize cause it's in bmp format instead of jpeg. Apparently you can't take a fuc, king hint...
  7. So how could your mod run with MTA?

    Bots?

Server software works in conjunction with the client core, so upgrading the core would naturally imply upgrading the server SW as well. However they are by no means the same.
  9. Prokopis

    Bots?

It's not a matter of client cores; that's what he's tryin to tell you. The bots would have to be run on the server - much like all other (popular) FPS games that have 'em - and their data be broadcasted from there to everyone else. That implies the server becoming not only map-aware, but also knowledgeable of the other players' stats amongst other things, which I'm sure SP VC bot scripts take into account before deciding a course of action. On other words, you'd have to start running something else along with the present software on it similar to VC's mechanism and guess what kinda impact that would have on its performance to begin with. Right now bots are a million miles away and you can take that to the bank. BTW, ^ What are you talking about?
  10. - Slight map changes to the city: both ladders that are lowered after completing the G-Spotlight SP mission should be available, Hyman Condo and VCN building elevators enabled, interior of the Greasy Chopper added (if possible, cause I think there's a reason for the lack of that; if not, close it down completely). - Stunt stats available in DM as well (said it before, but just to add it to the sum). - Some SM ramps need a little tweaking, like the one facing south on the west isle highway just north of the bridge to Leaf Links. Overall the stunt serv setup needs another glance IMO (maybe add a few more?). - The yellow Rancher spawning just south of the North Point Mall, is after all problematic - much like the Tec-9 north of the east of the twin little bridges inside the golf course - in the sense that after blown up, its "destroyed" model doesn't disappear and new ones keep spawning above the wreckage. I haven't found a similar problem with any other vehicle, but this one needs to be replaced IMO. - MOTD reappearance in the same client-server session blocking ability. Some servers have a huge page with rules, mottos, general info and god knows what else thrown in there (all in caps of course) which stay there for a good few seconds. After the 1st time reading them, there isn't really a point in all that cluttering up of our screens. I don't know if this is rightly a client or a server suggestion, as it could possibly be implemented either way, but I think it'd help some. - Have players exit the bloodring slightly elsewhere from where they enter it. This one's especially frustrating when all the B.Bangers are gone and you have to run across the whole stadium to get out, only to find yourself inside again cause of minimal inertia. Offices elevator is a kinda similar case as well - I think there are some 2 seater vehicles which ATM can't accept a passenger even when they try to get in from everywhere around them with Home. I'm not 100% sure on this one, but if so, it needs fixing. - Lose the Baggage Carrier on top of the WK Chariot hotel if possible; it's eating up one vehicle place. Lose the Sandking as well, cause it's the suckiest, most over-tipping car ever. Instead, place another car close to the Pole Position club and/or one more chopper by the helipad SW of that. If not, a PCJ around those territories would be most welcome even. - If the above heli placement suggestion makes attaining the SPAS easy, pretty please change its location to where the current M4 pickup on the pipe at the center of the 4 fuel towers east of the airport is, or some other undisclosed location. In fact, plz do that anyway .
  11. I could say a lot in my defence that would stand to reason as valid, undeniable arguments, but since the *thoughtful* mod/admin decided to not turn my pics to [ulr]'s and rather just delete them pissing on my painstaking work of putting those posts together (and the very nature of this thread as well), I'll just accept that nothing's gonna get my pics back and leave it at that. Besides, what needed to be said, has been said long ago: Quality "modding" right there by whomever was bold enough to do this anonymously...
  12. BTW the MTA client-server model topology is a star network, neither ring (which would mean some clients connecting directly to eachother), nor a "web with the server" (like what would that be? full connectivity or something?). On a higher level yeah, the server is oblivious to the content of the data it relays and that's where a few performance/integrity enhancement measures could be implemented.
  13. Please. 1 or 2 images per post is ok. But 9 is just rediculous. If everyone did that nobody would bother waiting for the massive page to load. Please provide a link to an offsite location if you wish to provide this many images. Thanks A few more pics Fun times @ the 18 player official (TX, US #1) 3-4 days ago : Here's a glitch. Notice how even in SP the east side of the WBPD lets you half inside: The bike must be on its side to climb over though. I haven't tried getting in there in SP, but I don't see any reason to do it either . Now playing @ the same serv as before, I was walking under that and some guy tried to run me over. I jumped, the car pushed me up and I was standing on that. Walking a bit westwards, I fell under the city and thought I'd get out, but no. Have a look: I think that place is like the "negative" of the detention area office room, only with a +1-2ft elevation. Jumping there isn't really possible, except in a few places. Anyway, after some searching, I was able to exit to inside the PD roughly by where the stairs to the main corridor are (a few ft west of where I'm standing here). Going out the door will fix all graphics issues as always. 2 more screenies from older times. These were from an (easy) stunt I did whoring all the useful Mavs (well, they still had the white one left, but meh). Names and places should be familiar . And that's all for now. More to come of course...
  14. Lol, the privilege of choosing you is theirs; yours is the privilege to participate in the beta test . And Ransom, I only made that remark in relation to some other post, by a member of the team I believe or a close associate, about the last 10% usually being dedicated to thorough debugging and final testing. Since progress hasn't reached 90% yet, by impliczation that means there's things other than checks and cleanups still being done. I was merely asking what parts of the project the step from 80% to 90% includes. We'll see what they answer.
  15. Please. 1 or 2 images per post is ok. But 24 is crazy. If everyone did that nobody would bother waiting for the massive page to load. Please provide a link to an offsite location if you wish to provide this many images. Thanks EDIT: This ended up long and heavy (1.75MB, 24 pics total) hope it's worth it. Plz be warned and patient . Okay, BUMP cause this a really cool topic, let's not forget. I've got some stuff to show you, many of them even before the easter holidays, so it's time for t3h glitch0rz once again!!1 First off, yeah what happened to that promise turbob? You owe us a glitch if I'm not mistaken. Oh and make sure it's not the one that was shown months ago and was even made a vid of (where you could move one of the ghosts on the roof of the WK Chariot, but that did NOT mean you spawned and THEN went up there, just to be clear). Now for my bit - well at least part of it, cause I've got a ton of good screenies to share, but that'll happen in another post probly to avoid filling a whole page . As you know, to complete the "Two Bit Hit" SP mission, you have to use the Havana outfit (cuban gang clothes). Problem is, due to some schtupid glitch/map editing error @ R*, the outfit is afterwards rendered unattainable for the rest of the game, so if you change clothes, you can't use those again. There seems to be some transparent surface blocking you from running into the pickup, which also reduces the indoor area of the shop to just a small square. Here's the deal: Anyways much like every1 else, I accepted this and moved on, but today while playing SP for a change, I came upon the shop again and (after the experiences with this thread that broadened my horizons ) I had a brainfart. And it worked too!!! Now I checked with GameFAQs.com and it seems most FAQ's don't even mention the problem, much less offer a solution to it, except for one and the method it suggests is IMO not very realistic, so I'll show you the 2 ways I found which should hopefully be easier to follow. First method is IMO easier and involves using a PCJ, which is strangely common to find @ those streets. That surface is impassable, but the pickup isn't really enclosed from all sides and you can get it by jumping into it and then freefalling under Vice. To do this, place a PCJ like the pic shows. The key to knowing it's in the right position is that you exit behind the bike when you press enter to get off, but you can still ride it again. If you go too much inside, you may have one hell of a time getting it unjammed shoving, running and pushing, so watch it. Then jump on it roughly at the pillion's seat. You can tell if you've found the sweet spot, as it'll get you slightly higher than any other, only then will you be able to see the following view and it won't bump you back (which will happen if you do it wrong). From there you get a rough idea of how hollow the whole thing is. Now you only have to turn and run-jump carefully to the icon. You should pick up the outfit while you're falling, but that's ok; the damage is minimal. You re-emerge on the street outside, et voila! The clothes are now yours and no longer on display . The only difficulity of this process would be parking the bike and jumping on it right, but that can easily be done in a short amount of time. The second method occurred to me first and is a bit trickier. I thought, since I couldn't force my way from the side, I'd try from the front and above. The thing is, the area right above the display window is solid, but very thin and we know how to sqeeze through those, right? I was probly having turbob in my mind ... So, first we need some nades, which are conveniently located nearby . Then we need a way to get up there first, so we jack a passing car (for example a Perennial) and make a stool out of it. Now comes the icky part, of which unluckily I don't have a pic cause it was my very 1st test and I didn't expect much, so bear with me and use your imagination: you have to climb on top of it so that you're still under that ledge and not sticking out and throw a nade iin the right direction to push you up. That will either happen by the first blast, or by the car blowing up, BUT there's a big chance it won't happen at all. Either way, you're sure to be left pretty fuc,ked up (less than 20 health, but the hospital's right around the other corner). If done right, you should get knocked down, but pushed upwards and when you stand up again you'll be able to see the pickup. MISSING PIC #3 (should be showing Tommy standing mid-air "inside" the ledge facing the pickup) I'll do a few more tries, see if I can recreate it. Now simply walk/fall into it like before and come out at the street outside (pic 4!..... cue pic 4 damnit :@). See? No bike this time and no pickup anymore either. And that's all there is to it. If you ask me, choosing the 1st way is a no-brainer, cause there's no getting hurt or dying involved (which is plenty possible and can be annoying just to get a damned skin). In fact, that FAQ suggests something similar to my 1st as well, although it says the bike should be on its side and you should jump like a maniac on it until your head gets "lodged in" the ceiling or something along those lines that makes no sense to me... go figure . Anyway, since this's probly been way too much text and not enough colorzzz for you, I'll throw in some pics of my latest MTA ventures to spice things up a bit and cheer you up . Here goes: This one happened while I was riding a lame Sanchez into the back (north) wall of the PnS at the docks wheelie-style. Strangely I went through it and straight into the garage... Guess I win a free wax job for that . Sadly my bike got fubared with the first wall bump attempt so I just ran around inside a bit, till I got bored of missing the action and hit the switch --> x(. What do we got next? Ahh, this one's cooky: "When the garbage collectors go on strike in Vice" They just kept piling O_O... I guess RISO has a right to some vacation too, but this is too much . And then some wind picked up. ... aaaand I got bored and left . BTW at some point [KFC]Crunch came by looking for some action and kinda got baffled by what I was doing. Anyway he died once, but insisted on bugging me coming again, seeing I wasn't paying much attention to him, yet still shooting at me again, getting critically injured, going in the mall to heal and back out to "fight" again with me busy shootin junk while dodgng his stubby. In the end he killed me, but I've yet to understand what his major malfunction is. Does every1 have to fight him whether they want to or not ? On with the show. A sample of post-modern art: Bored of backseat drivers? Let them do it themselves! One small shove-push for a man... Good racing times from the older days Romance in the city? Okay, I'm done. Sorry for overloading this, but I think it's a good thread and it deserves at least one good refreshment attempt; I mean it had sunk almost to the bottom of the page and that's simply unacceptable. Hope it was alright though and you like the pics n' stuff. So that's all... for now (I've got more) PS: Still waiting for that glitch turbo.
  16. It probly is still very much dependent on the ppl's ping like everything played online, but you'd say it's better than MTA:VC 0.3? Hmmm, that'd be good. How would you guys account for that? Improved netcode, or magic beans in the 9mm magazines? About the PnS shops, I think they just left their doors open instead of having them shut as in VC. I wouldn't bet those things are functional yet (and even if they were, why do I find that not so important o_0?). Anyway, good job and happy 80% . PS: BTW if 90%->100% is final debugging and testing, what's 80%->90%?
  17. I want submarines. WHO ELSE AGREES ON SUBMARIENS HERE? ANd I want my face on t3h flying sausages in the sky Eddy-it: Seagulls sux0r, change them to swallows - now there's a l33t bird. Gah Ed-eat #2: European swallows that is. Accept no substitutes. Danke Edit 3: And ban the MTA team cause they are spamm0rs and we don't like spamm,0rs, k?
  18. Lol. Well then, I suppose you wouldn't call it an inward or an outward corkscrew, but simply a left or right one Both should be equally easy to do then.
  19. Yes, but your machine will destroy the car (along with you in it) based on when IT thinks it has taken too much and not on what others' screens tell them. Many times in DM mode along with others I've tried stuff where we needed a certain car like a packer for a stunt or something and when unluck would strike and it would take too much damage because of one's driving, the way to save it would be for someone else to get in and damage it just a tad so that for the driver's end it'd blow up. Then if it moved again, it'd reappear brand new to the first. That way more than one players wanting to keep a car around, could refresh its energy for as long as they'd want. If a car blows up, it's because your VC acknowledges it as totaled, so the problem with stunt mode is actually the lack of the fire anim, which was purposefully removed cause of some serious enough reason (mentioned long ago I believe). I think it had something to do with syncing performance .
  20. Why not? I think it is really simple and most definitely is about the weaps. At least way more than it is about the spawn location and spawn vecs. After finding a ride and going to where the action is, who is gonna care about how difficult it was for others to get there or what kinda crappy car they had to drive to do it? Just cause a cop had to come all the way over from WBPD in a van/faggio means others will go easy on him or something to support the balancing of the game? What you're packing and how deadly it is is all others care about and so do I. And I don't think we should be discussing what happens when anyone walks over 2-3 picks, cause after that it's not even a case of CLASS balancing, rather a matter of skill, weaps power (which has been my point), and like Head said () knowing what counters what and how. Ideally the game becomes perfectly balanced when everyone gets all the guns. I asked it before and I'll ask it again: is there anyone here that thinks the chromey is overall better than any other shotgun? Like I said, it's all about the guns...
  21. Damn dude, read carefully, will ya? Of course you wouldn't be able to pick up your own drops. It's OTHERS near you that would and it'd be all of them since there's no pickup exclusivity feature available in VC (when some1 dies for example, everyone can get the weaps). Anyways, since this shouldn't be about helping a team mate that has less guns (that's their problem in the end; VC isn't about fuc,kin charity), but just ditching annoying ones that are in the way, I don't think a pickup should even be created; the gun should just disappear. Although I gotta say IMO ppl are seriously exaggerating about this as well as about that other weap selection by numbers mod.
  22. Not just complicated, but easily abusable as well (assuming the pickup from the weap you'd drop would give others as much ammo as you had and wouldn't be attainable by yourself): 4 mexicans of the same gang group together with 50 m60 rounds each, they all drop their m60's on the ground. Everyone picks up all the ammo that appeared and now they all have 150 rounds. If they do it again, they'll all have 450 rounds. For a group of M ppl starting out with 50 rounds each and doing this N times, you can easily deduce they'll get 50*(M-1)^N rounds of m60 (M>1, N>0). Then they'll set out to kill everything with practically infinite ammo...
  23. FYI one more weapon is planned to be added to the Nerd's arsenal. Right now the team is debating between the Coffe Mug and the C++ Programmer's Bible book. One has some very hot and sugarless content, while the other's very heavy so, as you can guess folks, it can sway either way. Whether the Nerd will be the newest superpower in MTA remains to be seen... Gotta love the teddy bear tho
