    Players

    But max players 32
  2. Spectator mode will just offer ppl the ability to quickly go in and see what's happening in the serv generally or with a certain player whom ppl may suspect to be cheating. Whether that's gonna be 100% accurate and how synced with the serv it's gonna be, will probly depend on the connection of the spectator and the efficiency of the netcode. Besides like most games with spectating ability, to the system the observer isn't a completely different entity than the players; the same data reception model applies to them as well only they just don't send any (well not counting the bind to next player queries anyway). I'm guessing at full incorporation stage of SM into MTA, a user will be able to switch from player to observer without even having to change settings and reconnect their client or anything. Kinda like UT2004 :].
  3. As I've said before, I'm more eager to see the next core and what it can do even right now in development, than any refinement and additions to the current one. BTW will you guys be re-evaluating your netcode's efficiency and/or optimize it while building core .4? And "Admin sets +m"?
  4. Rofl yeah, but one wouldn't cut it, sooooo... ... make a dozen more in different sizes at the background. BTW it does sorta remind me of metroids in some odd way 0_o. Damn addictions.
  5. You know you've still got a sense of humour when you've read all of the above and found nothing funny...
  6. They demonstrate to whom? You realize that poll's worth jack shit? And yes Jon, you're guessing right; it is your fault. Do you really think if it was anything important, it'd have 20 votes in total for the rest of those mods? Serious polls are hit in the order of hundreds and MTA would've well drowned compared to objectively more popular mods for objectively more popular games. Oh and FYI they don't allow multiple votes either, or give non-members the right to cast theirs. Reality check... For 4 pages now ppl have been getting their jollies from flooding a lame poll where only 20 resident newbs could be bothered to vote. They've been adding links to their sigs, they've been posting results every 2nd post and they've been encouraging others to vote too so that what would happen? MTA would be added to PCZone's next issue's CD? Yeah, ok. Good job anyway.
  7. I dunno why you guys are being like that and giving him shit about his vid. I think it's pretty obvious he was aiming towards a half-serious vid and that's why he put that song in; to work even more to that end. Like I said, I liked it. The vid clearly wasn't about stunts, but more of an introductory to WTF, its members and the stuff they get into as a team when they play MTA - as such I think it was pretty good and original. You could see them ensuing in all sorts of stupidity: from DM-ing, to team fighting, to heli jacking, driving, stunting, pool diving (), car stashing and generally getting together and acting dumb It shows ppl the of level of freedom the mod offers and gives ideas on how to have fun and kill time; IMO there's noting wrong with that and like I said, fun isn't always about being dead serious or competitive (be it by trying to do the best stunt or killing the most ppl as fast as possible). I mean remember the heli juggling vids? Those were cool too. Anyways, at least it's an MTA video and IMO it's just the injection this vid making community needs. We need more MTA vids and if that's what it's gonna take to make more (i.e. thinking his "wasn't good"), then so be it. Go make a better one yourselves . I say g/j again.
  8. Lol I was just thinking of that one myself: "When you consider blowing your crappy car up in case a new one respawns outside your house". A few more: - When you wait for some guy to get up a second time after you've punched him down to attack again. - You tell your neighbor that just put his boat in the water "C'mon, don't be a jerk man, let me have the new core too". - Ten seconds ago you were running up to him as he was backing his SUV a bit into the water shouting "Watch out, it's gonna blow!" - When you get that uneasy feeling every time you're on the street and hear a helicopter flying over your neighborhood. - Watching the shot put olympics event makes no sense to you: obviously no one's gonna win... - Everywhere you go, you see grinding opportunities. - The mexican dude that mows your lawn has no clue why you keep pestering him "to show you his M60". No comprende senior... - You keep asking the girls at your local strip club what their best rotation is .
  9. Hmmm nope, zip's working fine for me too and no more than a 5 mins' wait to get it either. Vid was enjoyably fun n' silly (and I loved it for that), so keep makin them that way cause we got plenty of time to kill and we need more MTA clips and stuff like that anyway. Shame on WTF to be stashing cars by Kaufmans though . BTW this should be moved to the MTA vids section .
  10. Who the fu,ck died and made you king of the forums, appointer of all rights and privileges around here? I bet you think you're a real important dude, doncha? Like Betty said everyone posting here is giving their opinion. You may not agree with others' - just like I don't fully see eye to eye with Rocket_Guns about the various strengths of the roles in MTA; that's fine and you're welcome to present your case on why you see things differently. But if you think your views hold any more weight than anyone else's you're in for a reality check and long overdue at that. For your information though, Rocket_Guns has been around for a long time now, both as a member of the community and as an active player. If I remember correctly I first saw him around early last October and he seemed calm and pretty friendly to me. I haven't played much lately, but I don't think he'll have changed any since then. I remember logging on the official 12 player serv and having fights with him and others back when .2.2 was the latest thing around and other ppl like Shortsman, Phuk (with [R] then ) and Element were playing daily too. Rocket was gettin his fair share of kills then and he's probably getting more than that now. Anyway, friendly tip for ya: next time you decide to go on an ego trip or a "newb" callin spree, make sure you got your facts checked out first. Edit: Oh, I forgot. STFU
  11. Fraps has an 'FPS1' FourCC tag...
  12. First of all, your version is well out of date. Latest VDub as you can find for yourself if you visit its homepage is vers 1.5.10 build 18160, so go there and update. Second, read between the lines. It says it's mising the decompressor for your vid, the FCC of which is 'dvsd'. Now I can recognize enough formats myself, but this one I dunno what encoding it is. Either way you're missing the codec I believe. Have you been able to see other vids with that encoding before? Third and most important, wrong forum, wrong message board. There aren't any real VDub specialists here and even if there were, they'd be so few your odds of getting a response from one of them would be unlikely. You'd be better off asking this to a video (post)processing community, preferably VDub's own forums, or some Doom9.org related ones or something.
  13. Odd. It looks fine for me with encoding set to autoselec and Western European ISO. Can't think of a reason why you'd be seeing it as garbage. Anyway, here's what it's supposed to look like: BTW, you still haven't told me what kinda TS/RA2 Voxel modeling you were into ever since you brought it up in the GTAHoodz thread...
  14. Lol, what's my "nick"? Well, since you're wondering, I've been using حiqoﻼoา٩ again lately.
  15. Great, now make something for me plz. I tried playing around with Photoshop in the lil time I had to make something decent, but I seem to suck horribly at it .
  16. I never underestimated R*'s coders' abilities; I dunno what gave you that impression. However this time around do I fear they may fart it out. If you read my post carefully, you musta noticed it's not their expertese I'm doubting, but their creativity reserve when it comes to working on the same piece of software for the third time around, not because they want to but because they must. They're bound by contract and they'll have to come up with something they can sell in the end. Now under those not quite ideal circumstances, how good a game do YOU think SA will be? Lol @ 3rd year uni kids though. Avery Lee was probly well into his 500th VirtualDub build when he was in his 3rd uni year. Don't underestimate university kids' minds or creativity...
  17. There's already one: you lose all your hard earned ammo and are forced to respawn probably in some remote location and far from any action. Even if what you proposed was instituted, ppl would still run into every fight and they'd still get high scores. It'd just take them a bit longer and everyone would only pick on the newbs. Ppl aren't gonna think more creatively or generally change their mentality because of any rules change you might impose on their gameplay. Everyone's gonna exercise their right to free playstyle as they do now and you'd end up back in the same place you are now. To stop robber wars, you need to give some team-oriented objectives to the ppl and add more modes to the game, so until that comes along (which is probably gonna be in the next MTA version), nothing will change that. Either way, any kind of gameplay would probably involve shooting, killing and dying. So in the end the notion of a penalty for dying just sounds stupid to me. We do value our virtual lives as it already is, believe me .
  18. You said "let me know what you thought" and that's what I'm gonna do. So don't blame me, you asked . The editing of the whole piece was seamless. Its intro although nothing too innovative was good enough to set the mood and hint at the level of attention paid to the making of the video. There was very little time wasted in transitions, which even when present were decent for a change (hey, I like flyby's), so stylistically d8cam delivered . Image quality was great as well and the 1528kbps WMV8 encoding @ 640x480/30fps seemed to be more than enough to get the job done right and provide a clean nice picture all throughout the show with a very reasonable final filesize of 48.6megs (that's 11.4megs a minute), so take note some of you; you know who you are . The soundtrack is always a controversial issue cause of ppl's so different tastes, but I think we can all agree the song was probably good and worked for the occation. There were attempts to sync the action to the tune where possible and I think those went pretty good too. Still obsessed with Pompeii though I see. Oh well, can't blame a guy for sticking with what he likes I guess . Now to spoil the mood a bit... Before moving on to the stunt content, I'd first like to get something out of the way, which doesn't necessarily pertain to this vid, but is more of a general observation/thought I think everyone should consider. There's always one thing you gotta be careful when you're building up ppl's hopes and anticipation towards the end of releasing a vid. See, hype - much like an election speech - is a knife that cuts both ways. It can only work in your favour up to the moment your work goes out, but from that point on 9 times out of 10 it'll turn against you cause ppl will remember your promises and are gonna hold you to them. So unless you can really deliver, unless you're sure your show can live up to the community's expectations (which you yourself fed to some extent), you should be very very careful about how you publicize your upcoming release and what you tell everyone about it. K, sorry bout that, but I just wanted everyone here to read and consider this from now on for reasons you can probably assume. In that mindframe - and this time specifically about the vid at hand - I gotta say dramatic catchphrases such as "out of X stunts, ppl submitting, or whatever, only Y were included/selected/made it through to the final cut..." (which are usually more akin to attention craving cable TV reality shows) shouldn't really be used in an online environment where supposedly a "by the community, for the community" spirit prevails. I don't know at which point for the producer or the stunters submitting their material this stops being a collective venture and becomes a recognition competition, but regardless of where things really stand, this kind of mentality IMO tends to break up creative team spirit more than it helps sustain it and undermines the prospect of other such future projects which I believe everyone would look forward to. Having everyone's nick shown while their stunt is played suggests even more that there's an issue of trust or something like that going on during those two months the movie was in production (you even had them again in the end!). Anyway I don't understand this. Did any of the stunters ask for it? Was anyone afraid their work might get "stolen" or wouldn't earn the kudos it otherwise could? Kinda childish perhaps, but definitely not very well thought out IMO. BTW "huh?" on the "community vid" claim, as I personally only managed to recognize about 4 of all the stunters in there representing the GTA stunting community. Just who exactly do you consider to be that? Shady issue, I know, but I wanted to speak my mind about it and I did. On to the stunts now (about time too )... For the most part the vid's material was quite original and entertaining. Overlooking the fact that the first whole minute didn't include anything never before seen, or even executed better than ever before, (as you can discover for yourselves by watching LBtrw's v.4 and No Comment again), yes the rest of the show was worth sitting through and it did feature some daring, risky stunts. Occationally you would get the feeling you've seen some of the stuff before exactly the same or in some variation (like the very first stunt which I think was also in another vid), but overall new stuff was admitedly there and stunt locations followed suit. A slight objection on the inclusion of quite a few non-stunt clips which I can only describe as "tricks" or bloopers, such as car grinds (yeah those aren't as cool sadly), bailing from bikes to avoid dying or just to land on weird/near-death locations, fooling around with BIGBANG, that squad car jump-bump, landing into dinghies, or the racer-heli collision, you get the idea. I know they're amusing, but weren't you aiming for daring, risky, spectacular, breath-taking, innovative, etc, etc footage instead of just fun stuff to show? If I did the bean counting correctly, those along with the filler scenes musta taken up a total of around 2:30 mins and I think that's a pretty big bite out of a 4:53 vid. Anyway, you're the director, you know best. I'm just giving feedback and expressing personal preference here so take it as you will. One last thing before I shut up: As Ramon also said, this was a pretty short vid in the end. Considering you were making a community video and that I spotted at least 3 clips which weren't up to par compared to the rest of the menu, I don't see why you didn't make this one or two minutes longer. I'm sure it wouldn't lose anything in value or tire the community (which I bet would want more spin for its buck so to speak) if you had more stunts like that sent to you among those 250 submissions. So unless there was a huge skill difference between what made it in Miss This and what didn't, or some other serious reason, I'd be very curious to find out why the final cut didn't even make it over the 5 min barrier. PS: Since you mentioned "Decan's Auto Stunt Reel" and "Vice City Tribute", I'd like to ask you on behalf of everyone that can't be bothered to mess with fileplanet to plz upload them both on thegamersalliance.com for everyone's convenience. Also plz check if there's something wrong with the VC Tribute "distribution" vid. I think it's a bit fuc,ked up as seeking isn't possible and the movie won't play past 4:00 when all players say it's 4:29. I've checked twice to be sure it wasn't me. Thx in advance.
  19. Lol can you think of many games where your death subtracts from your score Betty ? I mean suicides counting as -1, that's logical and it's there in many FPS's, but every time you die you should lose a point? Why? Anyway, who fuc,kin cares if you get 100? Or 200 or whatever? High scores are normal and you see it happening in many games pretty quickly too. For example, I just got off playing some 6 on 6 UT2k4 ONS and my final score was like 54 after 10:48. I know UT2k4 and MTA aren't one and the same, but point is ppl who can play fast and know how to kill (and obviously it's those kinda ppl you're suggesting this for) will get their scores up quickly enough one way or another, regardless of penalties and such rules. This would only end up making newbs' lives hell and giving half the ppl on a serv negative scores. Just think of all the bitching we'd get while playing on top of the usual "you cheat! No! YOU cheat!....". Bad idea man...
  20. Stilll gotta wonder though: What is Bump on lately? His replies always seem kinda... cooky.
  21. Thought this was gonna be about pr0n. We want more pr0n in MTA! And goats.
  22. If he hasn't got fraps installed, that's his problem right there. You need to install it to be able to view fraps captures with any player.
  23. Like I said, you could be playing off a faulty installation (Nemo would easily fall under that category). In that case you should redownload the bundle. Other than that, it could be a number of other things, like having some filter running over it whose settings could be maladjusted, or which could be defective. Also make sure your divx's settings are good for your machine too (film effects and postprocessing, YUV and overlay extended modes could all possibly be the source of your torment). Then again, having said all that about divx, maybe it just doensn't like you anymore .
  24. Don't do it Sam. Like I've told Bloody, I'm in exactly the same spot . I've thought of just giving up and handing my replays over to some1 else to make a vid from many times, but in the end you know you'll never be as pleased with the result as you'd be if you'd done it yourself. I'm not talking about fulfillment here either; it's a simple case of being satisfied with the outcome, given how much you think of the quality of your replays. Anything you'd see made out of them that wouldn't be yours, you'd simply not like. Sad but true. Personally I'm just waiting for a less busy time to come around so I can get back to it. Might happen sooner, might happen later than that, but still I'll take mu fuc,kin time cause I want it to turn out just the way I've dreamt it. Nothing else will do for my perfectionistic ass and the people can bloody wait . Don't do it man...
