    Good ole Yuri's Revenge (the Red Alert 2 expansion CD) had a nice way for players on WOL to quickly reply to others' PM's. It was /r *text*. Still seems like a good idea to me . PS: There still remains the issue of ppl with spaces in their nicks, which others can't /msg if I remember correctly.

  5. I keep watching your vid again and again cause I like the music and it's a decent sight to match. I think I've heard that tune before somewhere but I can't seem to remember where. Why the hell didn't you add that to the credits ? Now it's eating me day in and day out. BTW No. 1 in the top 10 downloads @ TGA with 3087 downloads, so bump just for that! Your bro should be proud .
  6. Actually it had to move to an area roughly (and probably) over the east isle and compensate for the lack of loaded map/mesh GFX the way it did. Why you askin?
  7. Because as we all know MTA runs on Linux, eh? If you hear a system sound right before your game "freezes", try pressing space once or twice before doing all of what Ransom said. One way to tell if your system has really hung is by pressing NumLock or one of the other two Lock keys. If its LED indication changes on the keyb, your system's still alive and there is a way to revive it.

  9. You know Andy, I was wondering why you never bothered to come here and announce some of the vids that were being released by ppl auditioning to join your crew (now members of it). I mean I dunno what kind of attendance you got there, but I think it would certainly help. I'm talking about Barney first and foremost, but also Pyro and a few others as well and I'm talking about vids like "SPAZ", "Show me the Stunts" and "Original Prankster". Given quite a few of those vids were such amazing pieces of work, I was puzzled over that for so long that I almost started a spotlight thread to tell everyone here about them myself. Then I thought fuck that, if their crew leader isn't gonna tell ppl about it, why should I bother? It's their work after all. Pity though... Anyway, just wanted to let you know.

  11. Got that same camera bug where it'd woosh a few kms away and then back to you if you moved a bit away from a certain spot. It was about a week ago at the stairs leading to the top of the sailor spawn boat. I kept talking about it to Loendal, Fox and the others telling them to come see if it happened to them too, but apparently it was an isolated incident. Here's the pics I took: Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 I'm not displaying them properly, cause certain admins have been very grumpy lately about us posting numerous pics of weird bugs and I don't care that much to have my posts edited... BTW that freaky heli thing isn't all that unseen. Combine wacky net traffic on his end, possible pausing and some heavy lag and you will get stuff liek that most times. Funny ending though .
  12. Well NosGoth, the thing is it was really just an average video (dunno if that's a negative or a positive comment since I'm saying it was neither good nor bad, just average ). I mean other than the half-original intro and a couple of decent stunts, the rest wasn't anything very much notable. Here's the deal: - The intro is based on a nice idea, but uses kinda corny phrases: "Let us enter this...", "Let us look @ that...", "...the new shit!!" (I mean wtf @ The New Shit? that was Chaoswolf's vid! You wanted something new, you shoulda put "the newest shit" or something else there). Overall the +'s and the -'s are balanced there. - Vid had a nice pic quality and music, but out of the total 4:30 time, 1 min @ start and another at the end make for too damn much time wasted on things that aren't as important as stunts themselves. So it's a "good comes with the bad" tradeoff deal again. - Stunt content like I said was just average. A couple of good rotation caps, but that's all sadly and it ends quickly as well (2 mins total time). Annoying thing was the constant slo-mo from beginning to the end. Why? Anyway, IMO you shoulda waited a bit to gather some better caps before makin it; still a presentable presentation though .

  14. Dark, I think your suggestions would mean that an MTA thread (or something similar that would handle/calculate most of the game's aspects) would have to be run on the serv. I mean how else could it become knowledgeable of map characteristics and everything else to make the right decisions? BTW, I like PD myself . Go Farsight!
  15. Excuse me? Are you saying any reviewer's opinion will definitely be biased one way or another? No such thing as sincerity, fairness and capacity for objective evaluation I guess, huh? IMO that's kind of a biased opinion in its own right there... Meh anyway, IMO you're underestimating the ppl here greatly if you consider them incapable of objectively judging MTA (whether you'd call them fans or otherwise). Even more so, those that have stayed here the longest and played MTA the most, I think would be the most reliable to sit down and tell ppl what is really good and what is not about this mod. That's that I think and BTW, as christos pointed out, it wasn't supposed to be a kind of fan-mail style thing.
  16. Hmm, so the next core will feature interpolation after all, eh? That's really cool, although I suspect it'd help more with vehicles and jerkiness observed there (no need for movement animation there like with actors) than with player movement. Heh, might even reduce the times we see cars fused in the map; of course that's just a rough estimate of mine... One more thing: What interpolation are you guys aiming towards compared to those available for vector data and where will it be located (server-client)? PS: Given the very nature of VC as well as all the bugs known to us now, I believe it would be too early to consider any kind of wild movement inhibitors/detectors getting added to MTA. I hope the team feels the same way about that.

Maybe if you guys posted enough here, this thread would reach critical mass, collapse on itself, form a black hole, curve space-time enough to coexist with the General forum in the same space at the same time and pass through the wormhole. Then someone would delete several posts to allow the universe to unfold and return to its previous state and we'd have achieved faster than light modding!!!.   20. CRC for every packet would probly create even more of an overhead to the serv, esp one trying to accomodate more than 12-14 ppl. Besides, it's still a beta Aeron; vulnerabilities such as those should be expected. And BTW Bump I dunno if I have the core and client confused or not, but given that I'm not making the thing myself, my estimations of where one's responsibilities end and the other's begin surely wouldn't be 100% accurate. Either way, if you're insinuating a more server-side data handling shift as "more options AC-wise", then no I wasn't talking about that. If CRC checking (among other things) is a core issue, then yes I was wrong. Two more things: - I don't get how or from where robrando got a hold of eAi's program. I don't remember it being completed . - This whole SP replay functions issue I think deserves a thread to be discussed in. I know I'd have a few questions/suggestions for it like Jon here.

  25. The core has little - if any - to do with anti-cheating/hacking protection measures; that's the business of each client that comes out. Either way, you can bet .4 is gonna be cracked and overriden in a matter of weeks; I'm already taking that as a given and that's why I don't see program based AC methods as an effective solution to the problem. You want my thoughts on anti-cheating? Here they are: proper admining of the game servers.
