  1. I thought gunpowder was first discovered in China and first came to Japan from there for rich feudal lords to use against their enemies. I could be wrong though...

    Ohhh... crap

If you can go and work with another PC as well and you're sure his winlogon.exe is infected, you could try copying it from an XP OS (same SP, probly SP1), boot his PC with a disk running NTFSDOS, or some other proggy that can work with such an FS and bypass password protections, drop it inside and hope it works despite the probable ownership/privilege differences. However the chances of that working are realistically not very good. Anyway, ripping his HDD off and working on it from your place would probly be a good thing, but from what I've read I don't think that's an option. You may have to seriously start considering you're gonna have to tell him you broke his comp, although you had the best of intentions...
  3. You still owe me that badgerware wallpaper Vass :@. I wants it.
  4. Actually, it was slightly more than just slightly long, but it had some good ideas gone into it nonetheless. Just draw the line somewhere around the 10 minute marker and you'll be better off for your next show. Also make sure the caps you include can surprise ppl at least a few times; that's what can give non-stunt videos their edge over the other kinds.

    Lagger

Better yet, get your hands on a couple o' oldass ethernet cards and a BNC cable. That's where the real fun is!
  6. You should write it methinks... BTW since we're talkin about such issues, what about pillion phantom driving when the bike's (front) rider keeps it stationary?
  7. Like I said, in a structured game mode, with almost all participants being busy and trying to achieve a team goal, it could work for the gameplay's benefit. Using it would waste a player's time but might give them an advantage later on, etc. It's just a matter of imagination (ours) and implementation (theirs) .
  8. I dunno, there are so many things you could do to affect smooth MTA gameplay that you'd need tons of info just to keep everything fair and in check. There's also the fact that such changes might be somewhat violating in regard to personal data and privacy thereof. Hell knows, I'm all for a cheat-free MTA experience myself, but there are places you just can't go to achieve it and things like running processes, connection stats and current status, memory lookups (or whatever), ingame options like frame limiter, files in my GTA dirs, etc are just some of the things no1 else has any business knowing about on my comp other than me; the notion of "more security, less freedom" is one I've never agreed with. Besides, there are other methods to work with towards better cheat prevention and detection and I'm sure those will be utilized soon enough in future versions of the mod. (End of rant) BTW the frame limiter is just annoying, esp when you're trying to stunt with a PCJ. Last thing I need is a game running at 2x+ speeds when I'm running into lighting poles .
  9. Actually that was meant to be taken as a joke... Point is, ppl with fast connections playing MTA could start p2p d/l's or any other BW hogging transfers and effectively slow their con's speed down as much as they'd want. That way they could create any sort of artificial lag and gain an advantage on the rest of the players fighting them lag-free up to that point. This clearly is an unethical method of playing/fighting and could even be a cause for banning IMO - although manipulating your BW to win more fights in MTA would take some serious "micro" .
  10. Both packer spawns are also in SP and there's 2 more than aren't in MTA; the docks packer by the flamethrower pickup and the one inside the pr0n studio.
  11. Not really an expert on GTA related mod building tools, so I wouldn't know how you got that (I am interested though), but can you plz do the same for the pr0n studio's water tower? It'd really help me tons. Cheers. PS: Jo, I still think the stunt I was trying to pull is doable. Might get it sometime soon too .

    What is a "." ?

The word ellipsis is greek and literally means lack, which doesn't say much for that punctuation mark; lack for comment maybe, but that's it. It is however correct and for all my years speaking english, I'd never heard of them being called that before. Anyway, I looked it up and you're right on that, so I stand corrected. What we use to describe the three dots in greek is the word aposiopetics (word is in plural), which, as I've found, exists selfsame in the english language in its singular form (aposiopetic), meaning someone/something relating to hushing, suppressing a comment, remaining silent when there's something to say, etc and that is what the "..." sign is supposed to suggest ("siopi" = silence). I guess you'd have to be greek to see a slight irony in this whole thing
  14. THAT's what we haven't done in MTA yet: a car exploding domino from one place to another!!!
  15. Tsk, tsk tsk... Before you went to open the most cliche phrases trunk for internet debates and throw me the first thing you came across, did you stop to think if there'd be any point in using it at all, or were you just filling lines? Yeah dude, I didn't read the thread. I just saw a new topic and strolled in here to randomly reply to anything that might've been said. You'd think ppl would be tired by now of that stereotypical bullshit gettin' written again and again every time. But since you wasted everyone's time for that, I'll just waste yours here. Now what else is there to say? Ah yes, why Say_ten's post made no sense. Well quite simply cause he said: There's nothing that needs to be installed more than once to run multiple servers, much less the game itself (~1GB in size I believe) and that's the only thing anyone could possibly refer to as "waste of HDD space". Even if MTA was what he meant by "game", I don't believe that is the case either; server tools and files are seperate from the MTA installation. Not to mention that comments such as "multiple game installs are a hassle/waste of HDD space..." are usually made in regard to ppl saying they maintain different VC installs for their various gaming needs (mods, total game conversions, MTA, tests, etc), completely irrelevant and not previously mentioned in this discussion. Later on he just uses the phrase "multiple installs" again and this time it could mean anything, so I'd be glad to grant you that this time he was talking about the serv SW. Still that leaves the first part unaccounted for. For all the above reasons, Say_Ten's post strongly suggested he didn't know what he was talking about concerning what doesn't need to be there to run a serv, hence my reply to it - which BTW was more of a general plea to ppl posting similar stuff lately than anything else. I tried to say that once before in my 2nd post, but obviously you got God knows what from my comment, certainly not the point I was trying to make anyway. On to this part: Probably yeah, but those numbers for MTA and for a single person to run are only figments of your own daydreaming and yes, dreaming can sometimes give you nightmares - even logistic(al) ones. Please give me a single example of a host that runs more than 3 MTA servs at any time. Hell, give me any example for any game where 50 seperate game server processes are run on a single machine. Anyway, if I had to tell you how I'd cope with 500 servs on 50 machines (MOTD patch or not), I'd expect no less from you than to tell me how you'd cope with walking if all of a sudden you were turned into a caterpillar. We'd be equally overwhelmed I trust... On a final note, I didn't say any of the following myself: To think you even quoted the part of my previous post that states my view on this subject right before you wrote this makes me wonder even more why you keep pushing this. No one said it shouldn't be fixed and nobody flamed you for coming here and asking for its inclusion. You got what you wanted, good for you; I merely said I - that's just me - personally wouldn't bother to do any of that since just putting my 2nd server in another dir would end the story right there. You yourself said that many ppl may differ on this, apparently you and I certainly do. Still, if you feel you've achieved a victory here and saved current and future server admins from bearing a possibly "large burden", even better for you: you could well be on your way to becoming a hero! But as far the rest of the community's reaction to this goes, it's probably viewed as another tick in a pretty long list. PS: Lol @ ranting for one page after you misinterpreted almost everything I've written and then typing "Nuff said" in the end. How'd you manage to misuse such a commonplace phrase is just beyond me. Incomprehensively yours, Prokopis
  16. Yes and we'd also like to know whether ppl are downloading anything when they're playing MTA and what that is too .
  17. Well, first of all, I was replying to Say_Ten who somehow assumed that the game would have to be installed as many times as the desired servers on the machines for them to work, which is just not so; the serv SW doesn't even need to run the VC executable - hacked or otherwise - to begin with, something that has been said even by the devs a dozen times. I stated that his post made no sense, but I hardly see how that's an insult. That means you needn't install anything other than the server proggy yourself as well. The whole game would just eat up space and be useful only if you'd want to play locally. Second, it is really as much a logistics issue as it is one of simplicity, regardless of whether you're running an ISP yourself or a mere home server. Personally I wouldn't bother coming here asking for multiple MOTD handling, when the way to take care of it on my own is so obvious. Even when it's clear that multi-instance was meant to be the idea form the get go, it's just so minor. Anyway, I guess since you're getting what you want eventually, maybe we should just leave it at that (and be happy)? Still, what do I know? I don't even comprehend the issue at hand here...
  18. Strange. I was under the impression that the initial 0.4 release would be for GTA3 alone and MTA:VC would follow shortly after. If this is true, guess that kinda steals some from GTA3's thunder. I was really hoping to see a good part of the community turn to LC for a one month period or something. Pity...
