  1. Ever thought about CRACKING IT!? Everyone else pretend you didn't hear anything. Act normally.
  2. Well I wasn't talking about fileplanet. In fact I said many ppl try to avoid getting involved with it and I'm one of those ppl myself. I was referring to the Vice City Tribute vid you get from filefront (the only source own-age.com offers for that file), which I've just downloaded again for the third time and it's really as messed up as I described earlier. You might want to give it a look. And can you plz upload both those videos to TGA so that everyone can get them fast and free?
  3. And I just give ppl rides to wherever I'm going so they'll return the favour when I need it. Being a jerk's way overrated in my book. Besides, I don't need lame tricks to kill ppl...
  4. 0mG giant baNanaz yes yess yesssss!!!1 BTW why bother wasting time on the coach anyway? It's not like it would be used at all by the time it'd get in MTA, plus it's slow as hell. Maybe for the sake of completeness, but still not much of a gaming thrill. Unless... ... unless you could get it to fit all ppl on a serv. Then everyone would get in and sing "the wheels of the bus...". Meh. Seriously though, I don't get what good Hitman's suggestion would be. Listening to applause or some other cooky audio every time you'd pull a 360 or something? Wouldn't that get on stunter's nerves real quickly? I know it would annoy the hell out of me .
  5. If you're looking for a good editing prog, you should check out Ulead's Video Studio 7. Shouldn't be too complex and it has a few nice features too. I didn't say that watching your video makes me sick. The nausea part was about one grind clip you had, where you'd keep turning the camera around 2-3 times in 15 secs. That was... a bit too much. BTW lol @ telling me I'm not spelling my name correctly. But ok, I'll humour you; why is "propokis" the right way to spell it?
  6. - Person that can swim the fastest 2 laps in an olympics sized pool filled with orange juice. - Strongest newspaper pitching paperboy. - Loudest crip.... eeeehh rattle challenged rattlesnake with a prosthetic rattle. - Biggest meal served in a satellite dish. - Most constipated msg board member .
  7. He probably means this one: If I remember correctly, you have to park your bike by the langing gear and get off. Then you'll warp to the bagel shop. Warp points aren't anything new and there's millions of them mostly cause of bad map designing. I remember quite a few from when I was playing a lot, so since I was in a pics taking mood, here's another one from the airport. Park the bike by the marked area, get off and it should happen: It'll send you to the same place as the first one. Now not all warps send you to the same place. Here's one that will get you to Leaf Links before you can say "Beam me up Scotty". This one's done on foot though and you'll need to run n' jump anywhere in the coloured area. Anyway, plenty more to show, but I don't remember them all right now and taking pics gets boring quick, so that's all for now folks .
  8. Ok first of all, I'm gonna skip the whole issue of comparing compressing capabilities and visual attributes of PC games material to movies and TV series since it is a) heavily content-specific and b) also depends on choosing the optimal codec and encoding options except fot the bitrate obviously. I'll only say, it's not safe to claim that games' vids are usually messier to encode than live action. That's at best guessing/assuming and we all kow what that does. One more thing to get out of the way: To be completely honest with ya, I posted that top 10 for Andy to see that his vids are usually bigger than anyone else's. Just trying to make a point there, but I guess he sees only what he wants to see. Oh well... Anyway, posting them didn't mean that I've seen them all. In fact - unluckily for me, since they're brought up now - Voodoo People and Ride 'em are both vids I haven't seen. In the first one's case, because I knew it was yet another vid with OLD_NICK's favourite bike, the Ducati, which I'm not too fond of and in the latter one's, it just didn't happen, no reason. Therefore I couldn't comment on their visual smoothness or anything else if I want to be honest here. I have however seen the other 8. Now on to the main point. It seems there's no chance to agree with you even on the most basic things. I can accept that music or humour preferences are a matter of taste and therefore you'll get different opinions on that from different ppl; I've stated mine and you did yours. There are tons upon tons of varied music styles and humourous material that appeal to ppl and that easily explains why we're not seeing eye to eye on this one. So no use going back n' forth 'bout that one. Suggesting however that bitrate is equally subjective is bordering ridiculousness. I mean assuming no one's fuc, king blind here and our monitors were made in the last decade, I can't imagine how vids that to others would appear clear and crisp, seem to you just crap and substandard. Conversely what IMO is completely excessive, seems to be your definition of "just right". I don't see where that impression comes from; I really don't. I mean unless you got wmv's somehow mixed up with cable or sat TV in your head, I couldn't guess why you're expecting cinema quality from productions that aren't meant to be judged by their looks alone, rather by their content creativity, editing originality, soundtrack AND visual quality. Ppl wipe their asses with TP, you want silk . So, I'll state my case yet again in hopes it gets through this time around: There is NO practical visual quality gain in beefing up the bitrate above the level of 1800-1900kbps. This ISN'T a matter of personal opinion. The fact that no one here has ever asked for vids to be that high in that department, should stress this even more, despite what you or the community you come from may believe. Call me stupid, but I'd like to think 5k people here plus the millions of others sharing billions of vids over the net can't be that wrong on what a sufficient bitrate is and that only the few hundred (thousands even? dunno) good people of own-age.com and planetquake3.net have really grasped the workings of quality encoding. THAT is why you don't usually see me or most other members of this community nag about bitrate, unless it's about a vid that has serious issues like a problematic framerate (some of ampt's vids were like that), or a really small resolution (less than 400x300); other than that, mostly everything else is accepted without comment, since we care more about the stunts than the looks. Putting out 320meg vids just to show ppl a bunch of goofy gags and stunts that are mostly old news, really puts ppl's tolerance to test. And since you yourself mentioned that it was a long production, you should've expected it to bloat like it did and used a lower bitrate even if it'd hurt your heightened sense of optical beauty. Stunt'd, LBtrw's v.4 and Motor Rush are a few good examples of balancing quality and filesize to follow. IMO you got your priorities a lil messed up and I won't mind tellin ya again and again until it sinks in. I will go check out the communities you mentioned and the vids they usually deal with for good measure, but I don't think that will change my views on what the reasonable and realistic traits of online distributable movies should be even slightly. PS: W-T-F is that "MiB" indicator? I've seen it a few times before and wondered. If it's supposed to mean megabyte, then FYI the short for that is MB. MiB means... nothing, I dunno . Men in Black maybe. PPS: You didn't answer me one thing in your last post BTW: Have you considered making other ppl's vids from their caps? I'll say again you seem pretty good with tools like Adobe Pro (which I can't use since I've got win2kz :x ). It'd really help.
  9. Yes, it's even been made a vid of, if I remember correctly. Somone flew a chopper in there. and caught it on tape.
  10. Why not dual boot Linux and Win2k3? Use win2k3 until you learn Lunix and then switch to that to see if there's any significant difference. I'd say steer clear of any XP OS when it comes to using your PC as a serv cause they eat up more memory and that as we all know is the biggest prob win OS's have.
  11. Lol love that pic, thx for posting it (y). And yeah maybe I need a better monitor, OR... ... bear with me now, it's really important... ... you need to stop watching your movies with a fucking magnifying glass. Ever though of that? Optimal visual quality my ass. You're gonna make me re-encode and upload 150 megs just to show you there's no difference. Anyway obviously you still can't see past your stubbornness or realize you fucked up in that department. Seems like common sense isn't all that common lately ... And I really got a kick outta you first telling me that the music deal is a matter of taste and then claiming it was good, because you liked it. So which one is it? Was it really good, or did you just like it? Lol @ finding the Knife After Dark ad funny though; now that's funny. One last thing just to set the record straight. I like to think of myself as a patient and persistant person. Up to 15 days ago I was a 56ker and it'd been that way for I dunno... forever. Still it never stoppped me from downloading around 1.5 Gigs of VC stunt vids as well as another 300megs of movies from other games since the time I got interested in that sorta thing. All that time, I've never - I repeat NEVER - come across even one clip with a bitrate higher than 2000, when many of them looked crystal clear. I can't give you an exact number but I think for every vid I've kept, there're probly 2 more I didn't and I still have about 50 in my collection now. On top of that I've re-encoded and fiddled with dozens of other vids from TV series to anything else to fit them in CDs for friends and myself. You do the math and tell me if what I've seen is enough. Or do I need to get another 900 to have a right to debate with an astute authority in the field such as yourself? Please... You wanna keep making 2300kbps movies with half a CD's filesize, fine by me. Just don't argue that it's the quality or even sane thing to do. Ask anybody.
  12. Actually the real gem was right there: can't imagine anything more hilarious in real life.
  13. Lol KFG, let's just hope they don't give us a on any of the stuff we're asking for the next version. * goes away giggling uncontrolably.
  14. If you've got ME, you've probably got a lot more problems than just MTA not running for you. Seriously now, if the PC is yours, get an XP CD from a friend and format tomorrow. There's no money issue anywhere for you to be crying about, get moving. Lol @ " it'll all be over soon..." That doesn't sound right .
  15. Ahhh but you're sorely mistaken there netrex. See everything above a 1800-1900 bitrate is just pointless stuffing; excess megs for others to download since you can't really tell the image is any better visually. Encoding it @ 2356kbps was simply outrageous. BTW I've got about a hundred movies in AVI format and 40-50 misc other vids in my comp and on CDs; none has a bitrate even close to that and many of them are excellent quality. Saying that you made the video for yourself and you don't care much about what others think is simply not true, cause you decided to release it. No one twisted your arm about it, you did it on your own. If you had kept it on your HDD nobody would care if it was 300MB or 3GB or whatever and you could be wathing it at a nice full blown desktop reso of 1024x768 @ 60fps and 4000kbps for all we'd know. Hell you could've even left it in RGB format to savor every pixel of every frame of your outstanding work; we wouldn't give a nickel. But when you want and expect ppl to download it - cause obviously you did: you made a thread about it, you uploaded it on 2 servs, you gave ppl the links and told them to "enjoy" - you have to reduce it to a reasonable filesize for public download. That means ppl with all sorts of cons, ranging from T1 to a lousy 56k dialup and not always capable of staying online for many hours. It's just how things are and you're gonna have to accept it and work that way whether you like it or not, if you want ppl to keep checkin out your movies. Sad but true... Now except for the size issue, GTA Galore's a pretty long drawn vid, with the occational funny mishap (like that infernus pole impalement!) in a sea of average and diffident stunts where only a couple manage to stand out and stay afloat, like the triple infernus spin at 11:23 and the 1703 car bump PCJ rotation at 15:10. Problem is by the time those come up, most viewers' senses have probly been too dulled from everything else to notice. The complementary dozen stoppies don't do much good to the whole package either if I may say so and ppl are left with the mildest of impressions in the end, although it's obvious the ammount of work that's gone to it as well as your editing skills and ability to use advanced tools is exceptional. Music was so and so too (I mean c'mon GTA commercials, LIPS 106 music, Apollo 440 and Fernando Martinez? Give ppl some nice beats to love you for!) . Overall you end up with a vid that's fun to watch once but probly not with much of a replay value. Anyway, try to be a bit more picky when it comes to deciding which clips get in and which should stay out in the future. You should also seriously consider doing the editing for other ppl's vids that have the caps, but not the time (or skill) in their hands to put them together nicely, cause I'm sure your skills could only help the end result. Insert wasted potential and such lectures here ... K I'm done, take care now.
  16. Lol yeah good tip to go to the display options and turn the HUD and radar off for next time. The mexes were in the van going to Ammu and you could see the others waiting on the radar. I'm not gonna start bitchin about things like short subtitles durations, grammar, spelling, or about "how the stunts weren't very good" or anything, cause I know this musta been a bitch to shoot, give parts and orders to everyone, organize and edit with all the ppl and stuff and cam angles and whatnot involved, so I wouldn't dream of discouraging you from making more stuff like that. I mean it's not what you see in every vid, but it was cool, so uh yeah... make more. Oh and get more ppl for the next project too . BTW tell ppl a few things bout how you made the shots, when you had FRAPS working, etc; it might give others ideas for similar movies and that'd be good too. Edit: Gnnnn couldn't keep it in: That grammar and spelling: DAMN man, get a fokn dictionary ! There, I said it...
  17. Lol @ pink socks. Yeah socks for his middle foot. And you don't have to mock Bill's avvy to get to him; simply change your location to "raiding Mr. Bill's fridge while he's on the forums" . Anyway, I hear UnFREEz works great with gifs, maybe you could try that IR.
  18. "Meh, my [wireless] mouse ran out of batteries..." "Don't think that took any skill..." "Haha made you run for 5 mins"
  19. Yeah but his sig (800KB) is still smaller than your ghastly avvy (1MB gif) . Those are made by some weird dude and I must've seen more of his artwork in another forum. I think it was a guy dodging shells bullet-time style or something to that effect. Anyway both these gifs spell death to 56k users, so I suggest you give keeping them another thought, especially this being such a crowded forum. Just my opinion...
  20. not for us ! Below follow the 10 biggest in filesize stunt vids hosted @ TGA: Grand Theft Auto Galore [netrex], 326MB Ride'em, Tommy! [wooolf] 158MB Voodoo People [OLD_NICK] 141MB SIN: Act 2 [:ampt:], 179MB SIN: Act 1 [:ampt:], 122MB The AMPT Stunt Reel [:ampt:], 102MB Gang Warz Part1 [TmM_MaDMike], 92MB Sorry [:ampt:], 90MB SM Stunt Reel [sM] 82MB Stant Mania v.4 [_LBrtw_] 80MB Need I say more?
  21. ...or you just extend it 4-5 chars and make 40-50 ppl happier with minimal visual impact to the game and scoreboard. Others will keep bitchin like they do now, but hey you can never satisfy everyone.
  22. Just a few things, some mentioned, some not: - Definitely up the image quality AND the reso (208x160 has to be blown up like 4x-5x to fill most ppl's screen and that is one hell of a stretch). I know this is probly only to make the preview small n' light, but 218kbps shouldn't even be an option for anything with a screen bigger than that of a GameBoy . - What's with the zoom factor? I'm 90% sure it was done during editing and it really doesn't help at all. Just leave it at default distance man. Along with the bitrate and reso, postcapture zooming is the 3rd cause for lessened quality and "pixeling". - Camera swiveling and rotating: there was one grind stunt clip that gave me a nausea kinda feelin. Plz don't do that when you're capturin. If you have more stunts already captured with the cam turning more than 400-500 degrees throughout the whole stunt, seriously consider ditching them and shooting them again. In the end it doesn't help make it look better if you go overboard. - BTW I liked your intro. Really sets the mood for the vid style you're going after. Music wasn't the best tho. - I won't speak my mind on the stunts more than just to say you have some good clips there along with all the rest. Consider not including ones that you wouldn't think of as impressive yourself and you'll be ok, but surely they can be with any vehicle; cars have been the stars of many amazing stunts I've seen from time to time (I'll just remind ppl the Blista double spin climb on top of NPM in VC Stuntmen Clan's "Extreme Deathmatch"). I'll wait for the final cut to properly comment .
  23. RA2 was a good game, but YR was kind of a disappointment since WW/EAP never bothered to patch it right. Pre-XWIS era it was full of cheaters that were even hacking the ladder on a daily basis and that drove all the good players of the community away. Sad days... To me the fact that Udo Kier is even considered an actor is more scary than his CD case cover closeup. He's played many small and supporting roles in many movies (like in Blade for example) and he was lame and shallow in every single one of them. Anyway, dunno why anyone would still be into YR now. PS: My desktop's completely uninteresting, so I'm not gonna post it.
