That's great. It'd be good to expand the community. MTA 0.4 is a lot friendlier for newer players, especially with the new aiming system.

No, I don't think the MTA team are particularly bothered. Yesterday on ASE, there were about 120 people playing 0.3 and about 350 people playing 0.4, and the people who were enjoying it were actually playing the game and not moaning about it. Yeah, it has problems, but the team are on to them. And the new GTA3 is 100 times better than the old one, so that keeps me happy.

Is there nothing we can do about cheat servers? It seems to me that someone could easily join it and find out where to download cracks / hacks to use in public servers? Do we just have to put up with it? Also, I noticed that the team's been quiet about the new anti-cheat measures in 0.4. Do you think we could have a few details (nothing too detailed though, obviously)?

Onboard graphics? *shudders* If you want to stop it rebooting, go to Start > Control Panel > System and click on the Advanced tab. Now click Settings under Startup and Recovery and deselect the box marked "Automatic restart". This is the most stupid "feature" of XP.

Yep, I'll agree with that. In 0.3, I found that it was mainly luck - who could find the "sweet spot" first. Yeah, there are crashes, but they can be fixed by patches. I think many people are over-reacting or expecting too much.

Are you collecting locally? (i.e. are you using your LAN IP instead of your external internet one?) Type "localhost" instead of an IP.

It could also be other applications that you're running. I've heard people say that MSN Messenger windows popping up have got them disconnected for suspected trainer usage.

Try uninstalling 0.3 before installing 0.4.

I think we only have multiplayer because someone bothered to do it. I'm sure it's possible with other games - perhaps more difficult, but possible.

Is it true what people are saying about being unable to fly dodos in 0.4? I tried, but it wouldn't even glide - just kept falling back to earth again.

This guy ran me over with his car in GTA3 and someone else who wasn't even nearby got the credit for the kill. This has happened 2 or 3 times. Also, sometimes I kill people and get no credit at all. Finally, I've heard people say that the "X killed Y (Uzi)" thing sometimes reports the wrong weapon. I don't know whether this happens with VC, but I would have thought so.

That sort of thing can't be fixed because MTA is client-side. But the new aiming system evens up the odds somewhat. There is only one map because otherwise you'd be waiting even longer for 0.4. Updates are planned, adding the remaining maps. The cars are blue because of a bug with the GTA3 engine. I don't think this affects people on fast computers (or at least ones that aren't at all stressed by running both GTA3 and MTA at once). I would expect that 0.3 mods would work because the core is the same.

I think it's way too early to begin speculation. Rockstar have made large changes to the core of the GTA gameplay (e.g. RPG character attributes), and it's impossible to say how these will affect MTA until the game is released. And who knows, it may be technically impossible to create multiplayer for it.

I think you'd need a new core in order to get the sniper rifle / rocket launcher and suchlike working.

We never said we'd be doing that. There was a thread ages ago, where people voted whether they wanted all 3 islands as one, or separate. The majority voted for the former, yet many people (including me) decided to change their vote when it was too late. If I remember rightly, it was eventually decided that it would be a server option as to the former or the latter.

I remember Black Dragon saying that nothing like this happened during the pre-release testing. This is the first real world test, and there are bound to be bugs, as it's a beta. Would you prefer it if you'd had to wait an extra 4 months or so? What I suggest is that you let them know by stripping out the flames and giving a detailed description of the problem so that they can patch it. As I've said about 5 times today, 0.3 was not perfect upon release.

Do you mean log onto Windows using the 2k log on screen, or log on to MTA using the 2k screen (i.e. switch off XP themes)?

They said in another topic that stunt mode wasn't even going to be added, but they got it working at the last minute.

Someone said that's what they did to get it working. It was in another thread, but I can't seem to find it.

Remember that this is the first time that the public have had a chance to play it, and the team needs feedback. It's not going to be perfect the first time, is it? Just wait for the patches

Bear in mind that 0.3 was not perfect when it first came out, and needed patches to reach the state it's in now.

Didn't they un-sync those weapons in previous versions, and if you used them, you'd get kicked for trainer usage?
