Yes... I think you missed the point entirely.

Are there any dedicated servers for GTA3? Whenever I want to play it, I check on ASE and there's usually about 3 temporary servers, 2 of which have pings of 9999, and the third which contains 0 people (sometimes 1). By "temporary servers", I mean the fact that people set them up, find no-one to play on them and switch to VC.

Why? Many large sites have been brought down by DDOS attacks. Microsoft's should be no exception. Their web server probably had hundreds of security flaws, judging from their lacklustre approach to security. Oh, and I disagree with your analogy because the power stations either have a single source of power or a single point at which all power meets.
-
You got an idea? We tried everything! for the moment it is up and we hope it stays up from now on I remember there was a virus going around that planned to DDOS Microsoft's site, but, much to everyone's disappointment, their technical guys managed to keep the site up. I'm not certain what they did, but it is possible.

free is better, WHERE? I found one pretty much straight away - there are loads about. I haven't downloaded the other one (or indeed either), so I can't say if it's better or worse. But it's free http://www.fileheaven.com/4t-Tray-Minim ... d/1276.htm

I had this problem as well. Every time I tried to access it for the last 3-4 days, it was down. At one point, I managed to view the home page but could not access the forums. I presumed it was the DDOS attacks.

It's not a case of copying a magic file that makes multiplayer possible (it'd be great though). MTA works by hacking memory locations in GTA, so it's not transferrable to other games (it may not even be possible with other games). Also, it's a hell of a lot of work, on top of what they're already doing with MTA and their social lives.

Someone recommended this to me on another forum:

Or he could have meant 2?? to mean 2xx which probably meant 256MB, soon to be upgraded to 512 (5??).

A lot of people on these forums use The Gamers Alliance for hosting. I've never used it myself though, so I can't vouch for it. http://www.thegamersalliance.com

make a travel around the world and try it I think he meant "does MTA work on non-English language versions of Windows?" I know that there were some issues with the Australian version, and I remember someone saying they had problems with the MTA key bindings on a German (I think) install of XP.

I think it'd be a lot better if the server config tool was bundled with the server. It would make things easier for people who don't like messing about with Notepad (harder to bugger things up too), and easier for us because we get fewer questions about it. (Plus, it's only 26 KB anyway)

Yep, that's a slight error in the manual. You have downloaded the full version. You say you see no users or servers when you run it. MTA is designed to be used in conjunction with the All Seeing Eye (ASE) server browser, which you can get from: http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/index.html (the fact that I know that address by heart shows how often this question is asked ) I'm not quite sure what you mean about the dates, but some categories are less popular than others. GTA3:MTA 0.3b is rarely posted to, whereas General MTA:VC is quite popular.
-
Yeah, if admins are online, what's the problem?
-
No, the error does not occur because it was coded in VB. Surely every VB program would have that error then? The error occurs because it uses the Common Dialog Control and it is presumed that it will be on the end-user's system, which in most cases it isn't.

Does anyone know if the new GTA4 will come with online

Flying cars? I sincerely hope that is not true. -
Yeah... but they've had the option from day 1 and they've never done it. In fact, they specifically ask not to be given donations. /me waits eagerly for Ransom's reply...
-
The problem with that is that in SP, the player can only be in one place at a time, but in MP, players could be dotted about all over the map, so this probably wouldn't make much difference in terms of combating lag.
-
The improved aiming system and the spectator view will cut down on the amount of innocent people called cheaters, and admins will have less doubt as to who is really cheating, so you should see the number of cheaters fall with the release of 0.4 (theoretically).
-
One question I have is: following the release of MTA 0.4, how long is it likely to be before ASE updates their filters? Would you send them the info a few days before release, or after the release? The reason I ask is that everyone will want to play it the moment it is released, and so the officials are likely to be full very quickly and it would be difficult to find a game without using ASE. (Sorry, I've just realised just how off-topic that post was)

What's wrong with Teamspeak or Ventrilo?

HELP I keep getting disconected because of my high ping???
orappa replied to chewEboy's topic in General MTA:VC
That's probably the problem then. MTA is only designed for XP and 2000. -
I think if it was a lot more polished and professional, it would stand a chance of competing with MTA.
