We have just linked our standalone IRCd with the GTANET IRC Network. We see some advantages in this link but there is also a downside. One of the two had to drop it's services and we lost the toss. Everyone is required to reregister his/her nickname and channels. If you find that someone has stolen your nick or channel mail us. Any input on how to improve our irc service is always welcome as well.

actually it has some basic hacks installed. In the end the serverload is more important then the database size.

have you visited the other forum? Have you seen that the speed difference is almost 0. The only difference in speed is because we have more categories on this board and removing all posts isn't gonna change that. The only thing that would go away on the main page is the archive. You see your defeat and then you say : i give up to safe your own face.

a moderator/admin abusing power?
Blokker_1999 replied to Toreno's topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
the rules set out state that a warning to a user should be reported in the moderator forum in the appropriate sticky threat and that the user that has received a warning should get a pm as to why he has received that warning. -
http://forum.mtavc.com/gangs and yes, this board looks just a littlebit slower but don't forget that this board transfers some more data since there are more categories. As you will see the difference between this board and a new one is to small to start all over again.

a moderator/admin abusing power?
Blokker_1999 replied to Toreno's topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
Blade, if you don't like this f*cking forum then what are you even doing here? I don't control my moderators. Most of the time they do a decent job. I don't have systems installed to see who bans who and who gives what warning. Most of the time that stuff gets reported into a special threat in the mods section. -
see even after ijs his post you seem to talk about things you don't understand. You are mixing cookies with sessions. and even after you close your browser the cookie remains on your machine for a year. That's how the auto login works. Also posts don't take much place. We have over 138340 posts on this board and the forum database size is estimated at 110MB, that's an avarage of less then 3kb per post and then we are disregarding the more then 10 000 registered users that also take up space. And 110MB still is a small database and mysql can handle it perfectly. about phpBB. phpBB isn't secure, but then again nothing is secure. IPB also get's hacked and the same goes for every other forum software out there. People just pick on phpBB since it is the most used system out there. But if maintained then it is as secure as any other board and all the hacks out there make it a verry versatile board. I'm even willing to set up a clean board with some posts for you to show you that this forum isn't slower then a clean forum. Hell if you were to set up a forum on some free space somewhere it's a hell of a lot slower then this big one.
-
I would like to point out two things: - Invision Power Board is not free to use! phpbb is one of the few decent free forums out there. And yes i have seen IPB in the past, i know what it looks like and i don't like the admin area - removing all old posts is dumb. Sure it takes a lot of room in the database and it may slow down the forums a little bit (not much) but it is our god damn history we are talking about. You are talking about almost 2,5 years of MTA history Also blade : cookies don't take bandwith neither do posts. They just take some hdd space and make searching the database just that little slower (and we are talking microseconds). All the old posts do is waste some hdd space but since we are the only site on this box and our database is still only about 100MB there is still more then enough room left for expansion. And if you were to work for me and i saw you with that knowledge you would be fired immidiatly

I'm still working on those floating mines

why keep them? they mean nothing in the end. It's not like you can measure progress on a project like this. To know progress you need to know where you will end, something we don't

It is possible the uninstaller gets picked up due to the fact that it deletes register keys. Also the virus itself is not inside the online DB from AVG. Dropper does ecist and is a virus that infects the boot sector of a HDD but Dropper.Generic.EX is unknown

Is rockstar making a massive online game??
Blokker_1999 replied to a topic in General MTA discussion
as far as i know the contracted with Sony has been prolonged for yet another exclusive GTA title. GTA4 is gonna hit the PS3 first and only afterwrds it will come to the PC and maybe the 360. It is nearly impossible to speculate on multiplayer at this time. One of the main reasons why MP was left out of this trilogy is because it was to difficult to develop a decent mp gameplay on the PS2 and that they were not allowed to make one for the PC version. The only thing we can do is wait. Wait on an official reaction. -
That's why there is easy mod, a modification that can install most mods. It isn't perfect but it comes in handy. Especially with big ones like the hierarchy
-
There was a verry easy way to see this was a fake one. The resolution line in GTA has always the color depth in it. This was not the case in this screenie.

Signature Size
Blokker_1999 replied to Vicer/Spitfire's topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
sure se add 10 to it and then someone else is gonna ask it again to make it a little bigger, cause a little isn't so bad is it? And in the end we will get huge sizes again. -
simple answer : no use the forums search function for more information on this topic
-
the speed of free hosts is mostly bad, why would anyone want to upload to a free system when they can upload to a payed system? And for the topic starter : MTA does not control all servers. Catching and banning cheaters is the responsibility of the server owner.

solder on some extra RAMDACs

At this moment there are 2358 UT servers and 2425 people playing it online. UT is far from dead. Maybe some bad configuration? Also is it updated to the latest version? from ASE:

Update : The domain got reactivated this morning and should be available to most users again. If not you just have to wait for your ISP to update it′s DNS records. Update 2: our forum settings have been set back. You have to use forum.mtavc.com again -

The forum settings have been changed to use multitheftauto.com/forum instead of forum.mtavc.com . These will be changed back later in the evening to there normal settings. Until then it is possible that you have login problems and the same can be true afterwards. The reason why the site was available for some and not for others has to be located with your ISP. Your ISP needs to update it's DNS records. This is also the reason why some people could still visit mtavc.com while others coudn't yesterday.
