  1. Due to issues at our domain registrar, the mtavc.com domain was not renewed for us when it expired yesterday. We′re currently working on resolving this. In the meantime, most of the site and forums should work as normal. Please pass the word around that people should use http://www.multitheftauto.com instead of http://www.mtavc.com for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused people, we hope to have the original domain back as soon as possible. Update : The domain got reactivated this morning and should be available to most users again. If not you just have to wait for your ISP to update it′s DNS records. Update 2: our forum settings have been set back. You have to use forum.mtavc.com again
  2. just disable the auto reboot and ananlyze the blue screen you get then
  3. We have not tested Blue on 98/Me so there is a possibility it will work but we are not sure. At this moment we do not support windows 98/Me. Windows 98 is old (8 years) and even MS has stopped supporting this OS. If you can run GTA3 or VC then you can use Windows 2000 or XP. These newer operating systems are more stable and secure then windows 98 and are also still supported by Microsoft.
  4. even if we show media, how woudn't you know it was made with 0.5? you can't. The team has been working on Blue for more then 18 months now and in that time a lot has happend. Internally we are even using version numbers . We have had blue in a state where it was playable and then there are times when blue is completly unplayable. At this moment we are working on rebuilding the pieces. We can not show anything because we have all these pieces at this moment but the puzzle isn't finished. The reason there isn't any media is because there is nothing to show at this moment. Also Eagle, making a trailer takes a lot of time. You need hours of of movies to select shots out of them and then you need more hours to edit it all together. let me show you what i mean: the following screenshot is as old as Blue: can you tell me from what version it is?
  5. For some time people have been talking about MS building an antivir app. Well a friend of mine attended at the WinHEC conference and he was able to take some screenshots from this new application. The first screenshot is from one of the verry first builds. The only function of this build was to test the scanning engine: Off course people these days demand a GUI. The next screenshot shows one of the firts early attempts. Since retro is in they decided to give it a retro look. The GUI is clean and simple, no fuss: Release is expected by the end of the year.
  6. as i said : trying out something doesn't require you to have 2 other clients connected.
  7. even then. What's the fucking point of having 3 clients connected at the same time. You can only use one and if a second is running on a machine that's always on, then OK, but what's the point of having 3? Nothing. You should have just disconnected another one you weren't using.
  8. jakkass, you broke the rules, you started advertising something that isn't even mta/gta related littlewhitey : having 3 clients in there is a bit over the edge, i can understand you got 2 but 3 is over the top.
  9. They refused me as one
  10. It is impossible to say who will be the best, Blue or SA-MP. And even when they are released there will be major differences. From what i have seen on the sa-mp forums it is most likely that SA-MP will go for a (MMO-)RPG style of gameplay while we will go for the action. About the fast progress of kyeman : let us not forget that he has learnt a lot while being on the MTA team and that we have learnt a lot from him. Unlike other mods he didn't have to start from 0 but he knows the basics on how to do things.
  11. Well, the article is about Blue and the usage of open source software in it ...
  12. I got a button called +20dB on my mixer
  13. indeed, i press file then open and then i click on MTA and the code magicly appears . No all we do actually is start gta in a special way to enable the build in multiplayer. all the rest is just junk code to make the download a bit more heavy. gta-vc.exe --enable-multiplayer --client='Multi Theft Auto' --server='ip' --nick='nick'
  14. We were never required to release anything in the past. But IJs released gta:am, gta3:mta 0.2a and 0.3b to prove to the people it was possible but not really to be played. Now people like you are so demanding. You think it is easy to make somethiung like this. If gta:am was made in 45 minutes then why shoudn't blue be ready in an hour? We have been working on Blue for 18 months now . At this moment it contains somewhere in between 160 000 and 200 000 lines of code. If you account for trial and error stuff you can double that number to know how many lines have actually been written and most of the effort of the team in the past year has focussed on Blue. We were never required to release anything and we are not required to release Blue until we find it worthy off release. People that have enjoyed MTA in the past will come back when Blue comes out even if it is to just look if we have delivered what we promised. And why don't you bash on Microsoft for pushing back Longhorn and removing features out of it?
  15. Usually this happens after a crash from the client and you try to connect before you have timed out on the server. Does it always happen? or only sometimes?
  16. You don't choose a gamemode in the client ... - Can you connect from the PC that is running the server? - Did you by any chance select stunt and GTA3? - Does your ISP allow servers (on port 2003)? or does your modem contain a router/firewall?
  17. does this happen when you are running no scripts as well?
  18. did you try downloading MTA again and installing it again? Do you experience instability problems on your computer or with other games? And for those ppl who are gonna respond that it is due to SP2 : it is not. MTA works fine on SP2.
  19. some ppl are cheating on MTA and the only way to be a 100% certain they are is by seeing it with your own eyes
  20. give those ppl 5 minutes with gta:am and they will apreciate the current versions a lot more
  21. I think he asumes we were intending on making DownTown a new mod for GTA. While if he would have read a bit more carefully he would have seen that we were developing a game and not a mod
  22. You are twisting the facts. We never stated it would take a lot of work. But what good would it do in the end? What fun is there for a cheater if everyone cheats on a server? Nothing so they will still be cheating in servers they are not allowed to. At this moment we are adressing the problem of cheating and this includes modding with an aproach that bans all mods and cheats. You don't go building bridges in any other MP game do you? Or do you see flying cars in NFS:U for example? No you don't. The current core can not handle mods. All you did in 45 minutes is remove the checks for it. What we want to do is create checks to make sure that anyone who joins has the same mods installed and loaded as within any other mp game. Get your facts straight or shut the f*ck up
  23. The 128 players was a random number. It wasn't as low as MTA but also not to high to make it unbeleivable for an action game. The cities were picked at random but we do went for some less used ones Off course our team would be to small for a project like this. This adds realism and it was fun reading the responses Again making it more belivable Since Linux is becoming a more and more popular platform i thought it would be a good idea to include it. Release dates, who beeives them? We woudn't wonna throw away the hard work and to support the MTA community i added this section.
  24. For those still in doubt, yes DownTown was an April Fools joke. For those thinking you were alone i got some good news, in fact i got some mails: He mailed back 4 minutes later Next one: And the all american response (no offense intended) And a novice one: Expanding the team with a coder: Someone with doubts and who already has an opinion about a non-existant game For those who have offered to help i would like to say : Thank You. And this is not because you guyss fezll for it. If we ever start with a new project that would require your skills we will sure start with you guys
