  1. Can't you just start from the beginning again? That's what I do. It gives me good practice for the harder missions again, and anyway, it's so easy that you'll pass through the early stuff quickly second-time around.
  2. understatement of the year GTA3 MTA will be super crowded when .4 is released. Hills, subway, ... I want to play it right now Obviously people are going to want to check out the new version as soon as it comes out. I meant on a permanent basis.
  3. The reason I don't play GTA 3:MTA is because of lack of servers. A lot more people would play if there were more servers, and there would be a lot more servers if a lot more people played, if you get what I mean. Hopefully this will change with the release of MTA 0.4.
  4. Yeah, I noticed the banners and guessed that they were part of the deal with Wojjie, but they don't make a profit in monetary terms from them. Yep, very true. Or else they would want royalty payments.
  5. The team haven't really released anything officially. However, if you look around the forum, you'll see that they have disclosed minor details about certain features and given subtle hints.
  6. The trouble is that there aren't actually zombies in the game. I can see the major drawback is that the MTA team want to stay fairly close to the original. However, it would make a very good mod in the future.

  9. But maybe the MTA team aren't out to make money. They make no profit from MTA or this site. They could easily make money by hosting ads on this site, but they don't. Plus, if Rockstar were making multiplayer, they'd probably do it in-house.

  12. If you look at http://www.gamespyservers.com/contact/servermonitor.aspx, you'll see the sort of questions they ask people who want to be voluntary admins for Gamespy servers.
  13. It's nothing to do with talking English. It's possible to play MTA without talking to anyone. Not all servers are good, either. It's a lot cheaper for server operators to buy slow components and have it on a slow connection. And yeah, like b0b0 said, it's got less hops between client and server, so data will arrive quicker.
  14. The team have been pretty tight-lipped about version 0.4, so these features may have already been implemented, as they have been suggested lots of times.
  15. Yep, I seriously reckon MTA should have 96 players like GTAT. Because of the huge size of the maps, 32 players just isn't enough. Can't really see that becoming a reality, but it's a nice idea. All you need is a couple of reviews and support from hosting providers (http://www.game2xs.com is the only one that I know of that supports MTA at the moment, but many providers are willing to support new games at your request.) More cheaters, yes, but more people to fight against them. Strength in numbers. The more people that we have, the more effective vote kicks will be . It will increase site traffic and pointless posts, yes, but hopefully the community will come up with some kick-ass ideas that never occurred to the rest of us.
  16. Hopefully the lack of weapon lag will reduce many fake cheater alerts in 0.4.

    I'd say that VB is easier to learn because it is high level. mIRC is structured more like C++. For example, the If...Then...End If makes a lot more sense in terms of grammar to the braces ({ }) used by C++ and mIRC (as far as I'm aware).
  18. Renting a server doesn't cost too much, and I find that hosting companies are always very accomodating when someone requests a game / mod that they don't currently support, so you should have no problem.

    He didn't mean write it in VB - he meant have it incorporate a scripting language that's easy to use (i.e. similar to VB).

Yeah, I expect they will release either on those dates or near them due to the fact that they are still using the same (perhaps slightly modified) engine, so it's not as if there will be massive bugs to fix. I wish that game developers would take the Max Payne 2 approach, whereby it was announced 2 months before it was due to be released and arrived on time to a surprised (and hyped) audience.
  23. I very much doubt it. I don't think the team would ever want to compromise anti-cheat protection considering the cheat problems in the past. However, on the other hand, it is common knowledge that the development team intend to make MTA moddable sometime in the future.
  24. The team have said that they are looking into the cheating aspect of the game in the new 0.4. I think we should wait to see what they have to offer. It is impossible to eradicate cheating completely, but 0.4 should reduce it, leading to a better experience for all concerned. Another problem is the amount of servers (especially for GTA3:MTA) which makes it difficult to switch to different servers because of cheating due to the limited number of them. I'm hoping that very soon MTA will hit the mainstream (hopefully with 0.4), meaning a plethora of servers and a larger community.
  25. It would probably be easier to licence Punkbuster, as it performs pretty much the same purpose as you suggested. However, I'm not sure what the costs of licencing it are, and MTA is free, but maybe an agreement could be made.
