Trouble is, Dgtadude meant for team gameplay, and if they're shooting each other, they can't exactly play in teams.

How many computers do you own and what do you use them for?
orappa replied to [nWg]ScarFace3's topic in General
1. My main PC - powerful with loads of extras (breaks down all the bloody time!!!) - Athlon XP 2400+, 512MB DDR 266, Geforce FX 5900 128MB, etc. 2. My secondary PC - slow and crap - used for testing proggies and when my other PC breaks down - Athlon 1000, 512MB 133, Geforce 2 MX400 64MB 3. My laptop - P4 2.66, 512MB, Geforce 4 Go 4. My half-built PC whose sole purpose in life is to sit on the floor covering up the spot with the iron-mark on it... - It's about 300Mhz if I remember rightly 5. My slow server (awaiting co-location) - 800MHz Duron, 2GB 133 RAM 6. My fast server (ditto) - 2.3 GHz P4, 3GB RAM 7. About 3 old PCs with bits falling off that I really should get rid of. -
It'd be a bit boring sailing around all the time anyway. The trouble is, who would sailors kill? Cops in police boats perhaps?
-
Yeah, but you have to bear in mind that most users will not have such a set-up and so if it takes a lot of effort, it's not worth doing for the minority.
-
Pedestrians and cars can't be added because it would seriously strain the engine, and your ping would go through the roof. No. 7 should be directed towards server admins rather than developers. With No.8, do you mean an admin in each server checking for cheaters?
-
Does this poll include how much time you have free to play games? My ISP doesn't impose a bandwidth limit as far as I'm aware, but I'm too busy too afford more than a couple of hours a week.
-
It looks good, but whoever thought of calling it "Driv3r" should be shot.
-
The person who replied first (whoever it was - I haven't looked) may not necessarily be the best candidate (no offence intended). Couldn't you perhaps try to find a way for them to prove how good they'd be at running your server? Or you could, traditionally, offer it to the highest bidder.

You might want to try out http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=5659 .
-
Yeah, but you have to bear in mind that it can sometimes sacrifice key Windows processes. I have tried this on a few occasions, and the first time, it couldn't update my virtual memory quickly enough and ran out of memory. On the second time, it delayed my keyboard and mouse input so everything was laggy. In my experience, even without these problems, it doesn't make a lot of difference.
-
Yeah, but I can imagine that LPB's will abuse it. So there'd need to be a script that kicks people with a lower ping.
-
Why is that a problem?? Or did they realise and insist that you sent one back?
-
I've never had any problems with 52x drives.
-
I'd say switch off Zone Alarm temporarily, run a packet sniffer and enable the necessary ports that it uses. Then you can switch ZA on again.
-
Yeah, eBay have the worst customer support ever. They never suspend any sellers who sell a lot of things, because they make a lot of profit from it.
-
I've never ever had that problem. Perhaps you have a drive with a high seek time, so it has to spend longer whirring in order to find things. I remember with my old CD-ROM drive, it would keep reading and reading from the disc whenever I started GTA 3, and would only load the game if I whacked the drive on the left-hand side. This problem was fixed when I upgraded to a DVD-ROM drive.

The teamchat feature has been suggested before, but the developers said it wasn't worth it. May I suggest http://www.teamspeak.org .

cheaters.... i hate them, can you at least try to stop them?
orappa replied to a topic in General MTA:VC
Perhaps you could not detect the use of trainers but instead detect the symptoms of the use of trainers. For example, HardStuff states that this cheater had a super-fast car and could teleport, as well as spawning with any weapon he liked. You could incorporate a feature which detects cars which are travelling too fast and people spawning with weapons that they're not supposed to, etc. -
It could be a crap network card actually. One of my machines has a new motherboard with 10/100 LAN built-in and the other has a Belkin 10/100 card which is about 2-3 years old. Do you reckon getting a better network card for each (i.e. the expensive ones that you can get for servers) would fix this problem?
-
I have a similar problem, and it doesn't just affect MTA. Unreal Tournament is painfully slow, yet UT 2003 and Quake 3 are super-fast. I have a Belkin router with Cat 6 cables. Does anyone have this router, and if so, do they have the same problems?
-
He can't have done. There's a problem with PHPBB whereby search engines can only spider the forum home page, but not subsequent pages. It's something to do with the ID number it assigns each user or something. They offer a guide to fixing it over on phpbb.com.

After seeing all of your posts, it makes me look even more boring than I imagined: 1. Playing games 2. Programming That's what I live for.
-
The only way to tell if you've got the patch is to look at the file size of the GTA VC exe file. The original was about 3.5 - 3.9 MB if I remember rightly, and the size of the patched file is 4.3 MB.
-
It can no longer be found, so presumably someone closed it, whether on this forum or not.

MTA 0.4 moved from 60% to 70% Core 0.4 moved from 10% to 20% I'm the sad sort of person who notices stuff like that.
