  1. Yeah, also there'd be less incentive for people to run an MTA server if they consume all of that bandwidth. Plus you'd get a higher ping most likely.
  2. I think he means that he wants to create an MTA skin for Winamp.
  3. Microsoft is starting to phase out all of its old software and operating systems, so it will be a complete waste of time for the team if it takes a lot of work to integrate Win 98 support. If it's a simple tweak here and there, on the other hand, that wouldn't be so bad.
  4. Yeah, but think of the bandwidth that would take up. The team make no profit from MTA. And presumably, after downloading the file, it could easily be edited and copied over the top of the downloaded files each time (if that makes sense).
  5. Sorry, yep, you're right. My mistake. I don't see why they don't release a double pack for PC though.
  6. 3dfx was bought out and shut down by Nvidia a couple of years back, so there is no longer any proper support for these cards, and game developers don't design with Voodoos in mind any more. Even a cheap, low end card will see a massive difference in comparison to your existing one.

    How about.....

You can't just completely eliminate someone. The team can reduce the amount of cheaters, but at the end of the day, the cheaters are just as resourceful as the developers.
  8. You won't regret it. They're currently selling a double pack with GTA 3 and Vice City, or you can pick it up for next to nothing on eBay.
  9. There are currently some lag issues with the 0.3 core, but the team say that these will be rectified in 0.4. Regarding the 96 players, that is another mod called GTAT (it's crap, btw).
  10. Updating your drivers should fix the problem, but I'd suggest getting a new graphics card (probably PCI, as most Intel boards with onboard graphics don't have AGP slots).
  11. Yeah, a mate of mine had an onboard Intel graphics chip, and in most games objects were just plain white. So when we played online, we'd have to be on the same team, and I'd have to guide him through buildings and stuff because he couldn't see.
  12. This thread will provide you with the details of where that address came from: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=6653
  13. Perhaps that should be changed. I could understand why you'd want to run more than one copy of the server, but I can't see a legitimate reason for running more than one copy of the client.
  14. I visited the GTAT site to see why everyone was flaming it. I now understand. Here are some of the suggestions on the forum: Cars with gun turrets , controlled by other player. 2 players linked with chain as penalty Skateboards/bicycles,deltawing Diving equipment Submarines(are under construction) Hungry crazy beast that randomly attacks players Shark pool with immediatly attacking sharks Edit the Dodo to an B-52 bomber or F16 The list goes on. What GTAT and its users don't seem to understand is that MTA is paying homage to GTA 3, and any drastic gameplay changes as listed above are an insult to the GTA name and those who play it.

    hey :P

You can download it from http://www.udpsoft.com/eye
  16. I didn't like Tribes 1 as much. I think it was probably because I played Tribes 2 first, which is a shame, as a lot of people swear by the original Tribes.
  17. The custom cars for LAN only is a good idea, however I can predict that cheaters will find a way of hacking it and using it online.
  18. "Well untrue I know MrBump can't use TeamSpeak and play he must use RogerWilco a similar program with good quality. So if you have bandwith issues you might want to go with RogerWilco instead. I prefer TeamSpeak because it has a better application window. As a Admin I can drag ppl to different rooms in the server" Sorry, I didn't have much time to post that message, and it was a quick cut-and-paste from their About page.
  19. "The voice quality and hereby the bandwidth usage is configurable and can be low for modem users or as good as normal phone calls for better connections. Still the client's maximum bandwidth won't exceed 25.9 KBit/s (=3.3 KB/s) upstream. Also TeamSpeak uses as little latency as possible, which makes TeamSpeak one of the best online gaming communication programs." http://www.teamspeak.org
  20. A ping of 9999 usually means that it timed out when ASE tried to query the server. Have you got a firewall running or something like that?
  21. My warrior name is GoldenMcDongle, but unfortunately I don't get a lot of time per week to play games.
  22. Perhaps not a LAN-only version, but better LAN support in the normal client? UT2003 has an "optimise for LAN" checkbox which drastically speeds things up when playing over a LAN.
  23. Well, that's why I edited it and put IMHO after it, as it occurred to me that it could cause arguments.
