I like this skin because it's easy to read and loads quickly. If there was an MTA:SA-style skin that had the above two attributes, I'd vote for it.

I don't know why everyone's getting defensive; only Posty has the right to do that as my comment was directed towards him. If you had done something against the rules, you would have been warned for it. I merely asked a question to satisfy my curiousity, which you duly answered. I think you and the other people in this thread overreacted somewhat.
-
Posty, do you only come here to advertise?

Why are they waiting for a weekend release? No-one said anything about that (no-one from the team anyway).

The blog has a lot of problems. I'd prefer to see the comments added to the forum.

True, but it's difficult with ped traffic.

Jani, please refrain from posting about things that you know nothing about, even though you ply "contacts" in the public beta team for information that they do not have. I don't recall that ever being said. You probably wouldn't have been happy with it if it was released in October. An October version would have had severe bugs and crashed a lot. It would also be missing the map editor and some other things that you will have to wait until the release to discover (not part of the mod). Multi Theft Auto was invented to bring multiplayer to GTA. GTA Rumble, on the other hand, was clearly designed for deathmatch, hence the title. Yes, you could race on Grand Turismo but you could also get deathmatch from countless other games as well. The people who go on about the race mod being awful (without actually having played it, might I add) generally assume that the majority of people agree with them without actually bothering to check before making that assumption. Everyone who has played the mod has been very positive about it. And you can in hydra wars, tank wars, RC wars, sea sparrow wars, destruction derbies, hunter wars, etc. I (notice that I said "I" and not "the majority of people who play MTA") don't really care whether I get to shoot people or not. I'm playing this game for entertainment so my main criteria would be whether the game is fun or not. And it is.

I get the impression that if it is set in London, someone will create a mod to make the cars drive on the other side of the road. The idea of driving on the left really freaks Americans out for some reason. I have no idea why. Maybe... it depends on whether they choose stereotypical depictions or not. It's a different style and of course the accents are different. I'm not sure that they would just set it in London though. I mean, San Andreas had three massive cities with loads of countryside in between. Some people have said the next GTA may be GTA Europe. The narrow streets would be great for car chases though.

If you've been checking it almost every day, how could you possibly not know it was a race mod before now?
-
This article doesn't confirm it, it just says "may very well be set in London."

You need to install the v1.1 patch.

The message is probably popping up behind the GTA window. You can alt-tab to see it. As Bump said, crashed on startup are normally due to an invalid executable version selected.
-
Nope, it doesn't support custom models. I think those pickup icons are overlayed via DirectX and aren't actually in game as far as I'm aware.

I noticed in the review that not everything Jordan said was 100% accurate. We didn't tell him everything about it, and some things he guessed. Talidan is right, he is just referring to GTA's CD authentication system. Regarding the race mod, it really shouldn't be a surprise. It's been stated from Day 1 that the first release will be racing only. My advice is to give it a chance and not automatically decide that it must be crap because you're not shooting the hell out of someone. Edit: Oh, btw, my last sentence is inaccurate because whilst player weapons aren't available, vehicle weapons are...

Foot sync will be coming in a later release. Your idea sounds perfectly possible with the map editor though.
-
It'd be interesting to see how it turns out. I wasn't keen on the original. I'm not sure how well it would appeal to the American market though, as driving on the left seems to really confuse them. I have no trouble switching from one side of the other.

I only watched the first video but I don't think it did Destruction Derby justice.
-
The mod itself is feature-complete and we're just mass-testing it to see if there are any show-stopping bugs. None so far Also there are a few other things that need to be done before release that are crucial but aren't specifically part of the mod.

My First post and also my first problem.
orappa replied to KillerDog's topic in General MTA discussion
I was taking some screenshots of GTA3:MTA for the Wiki the other day and set up a server on my machine to do so. I noticed exactly the same problem. I'm not sure what causes it. You can, however, just run the server manually although you will need to edit the mtaserver.conf file in order to do so (search for this in Windows). It's pretty straightforward - you just open it in Notepad and read the comments which will tell you what each setting does. Then you just save the file and fire up MTAServer.exe. -

Why do RPG topics always turn into flames? Why do DM players have to exert their preference over everyone else? Do they do it to satisfy themselves that they are "correct" (whatever that means)?
-
It's too early to make plans for such a thing as the feasibility hasn't really been investigated. The team knows how to make it work in theory but in practice it could be very different. That's something that will have to be tested in the future.

Hydra battles still work though.

What I meant is that I can't even see any Hunters in any of the images.

"King of the hill" is what someone decided to name their map. In the second picture it says "Mike is now known as You" - i.e. he changed his nickname. "Mike is now crown as You" makes no sense anyway...
