By those screenshots, at least the trainer detection is working sometimes

Make sure you are using the 0.2 Client on 0.2 Servers ... check the about box.
-
If it is still saying incorrect files, then something is wrong. Either the exe is pointing wrong, or the mta.scm handling.cfg or weapon.dat file has been modified at some point since installation. Make sure you are running the mta.scm file that was shipped with MTA:VC 0.2 and make sure that you are using the handling.cfg and weapon.dat files from the original installation of the game.

Alright, so, I wanted to make this official as so many people with foreign versions are experiencing it. Follows these steps exactly - Navigate Windows Explorer to the VC root directory and change into the TEXT directory. You should see a bunch of files, mainly with the .gxt extension. - Copy all of the files in this directory EXCEPT for american.gxt into the MTA directory (a sub-directory off of the VC root directory). Try again ... If this helps and you get in game, but then instantly seem to crash at the Player Selection Screen, try the following. - Navigate to the MTA directory of the VC root directory and delete the existing language.gxt file (such as spanish.gxt). - Make a copy of american.gxt. - Once copied, rename the copied american.gxt (which was bundled with the MTA:VC 0.2 program) to whatever your GTA:VC game is set to. So, if you have the game set to spanish, rename the copied american.gxt to spanish.gxt. Try again ... This seems to be helping quite a bit of people, so hope for the best If you are still crashing, please make sure that you have selected the correct game version within the Client. So, if you have GTA:VC 1.0 installed, make sure you select 1.0 in the Client. If you have GTA:VC 1.1, make sure you select 1.1 in the Client. Also, make sure the mta.scm and mtas.scm (0.2.2) exist within the data/ directory of your VC root. The mta_dll.dll file must exist within the VC root directory and if you wish to have any MTA keys bound within the game, config.cfg must also exist within the VC root directory.

1. Should work on both without affecting one another. 2. Shouldn't make any difference in my opinion. 3. Win98 / WinME support still isnt there due to the differences in the way it handles memory (big rewrite needed).

There is quite a bit of protection, which is why you are experiencing less cheating and less crashing (due to cheaters). We cannot stop all trainers ever ... we stop them, people will create new ones. It is a fact of life. We have put in a ton of checks on the actual data that is sent though and only send if certain conditions are made. This has helped a ton and from what I can see, has removed the crashing relating to trainer usage almost altogether. The crashing that everyone is experiencing now is other things that somehow are conflicting with what we are done. From initial research, they are not linked to cheating.
-
Depends on the trainer ... trainers are checked throughout the entire game session, so if the trainer is ran during the game it will still be detected. But we cannot guard against every trainer, so deal with it. Nothing is perfect and we are no exception.

Try opening the ports .... 2003 by default, ServerPort + 123 for ASE (2126).
-
Strange .... something must not be setting right .... are you using a cracked exe. If so, try the original or try to find another one as the one you are using may not like the memory that we are editing.
-
try: [game-exe] D:\vice city\gta-vc.exe
-
We will think about this ... nothing more at this point.
-
!!!When installing 0.2 it says I still have 0.1!!!
Cray replied to a topic in General MTA discussion
Yeah, you must be trying 0.1 Servers or using the 0.1 Client. -
It is frustrating ... We think there is a big problem with different languaged versions of the games. We have no idea what it is right now ... but of course we will be looking into it eventually.
-
Server is crashing, we dont know why , give us time.
-
You will need some sort of an external bandwidth monitor ... search freshmeat.net
-
From my testing, it doesn't Win98 is handling memory a bit different, so we need to research and redo a lot of things.
-
Good observation ... we will be looking into the Server issue.
-
What is the error.
-
That error means that one of the files is not from the original installation of VC. Make sure you have the mta.scm from MTA:VC 0.2 and have not altered your weapon.dat or handling.cfg files.
-
Strange, what you can try is editing the file that this information is stored in manually. Open mta.ini in your Windows root and add an entry like the following: [game-exe] location=F:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe Where location is the full path to your gta-vc.exe file.
-
First off, if you need to reset all of your Client settings remove the mta.ini file from your Windows root. If you want to just reset the game path (to point to a new exe), then start the Client with the -resetgamepath Argument and it will force a prompt upon starting a game.

Win98?
