If the segment does come through, I have requested a copy and we will see if we can legally post this on the site for download. We will obviously let you know when we know all of the details.
-
Yes, this is a GTA:VC thing.
-
Heh, just bad placement of the spawn area and the character selection screen. No worries, just ignore it
-
The crashing at random times during gameplay is not the same issue. It is something else that we are aware of, so do not worry about it for now (unfortunately, just live with it). What I have stated and what Wingwalker has stated should work for 90% of the Player's, so all of those still having the starting crash bug, please re-read what we have posted and do it over again. You can get it to work if you read things carefully (in most cases).

Yeah, this is pretty cool, thanks for letting us know.

I will only answer the how far question, and we can honestly say we do not know how far we can take it. I don't think we will ever get MTA to a point that it is crashless ... it just seems that what we are doing (modifying memory at run-time), is bad news for the game and therefore leads to undesired results. Who knows, just wait and see ...
-
Awesome, let us know what you find.
-
If you do not see text at the character selection screen and then crash, try copying the american.gxt to yourlanguage.gxt and placing it in the MTA folder. This is the second tip i posted in the original posting.

The Official Servers are also just not up to be monitored, but they are also up to provide a permanent place for people to play. Servers come and go extremely often and we wanted to set up a few dedicated Servers that are always online.

Gotta love losers that think they have lives.
-
Cool, never even thought about it ... can't say I know how to do it right now, but I guess it is something to look into.
-
This is a known issue and we are looking into it. We may have solved it early today, but we will keep everyone posted on the news page once we have determined what the actual problem really is.
-
Right now, MTA:VC is only deathmatch. There are no implemented game modes or anything really to do other than to drive around and kill, but a lot of the time you will connect to a server where a "game" is going on. Lots of people seem to make their owns games on servers, such as races, catch certain people, etc... etc... It is pretty fun seeing people do this as we have not actually implemented any hard-coded games modes. Things like this will come in time ...
-
Yeah, haha ... a simple oversight on our parts. Seems we placed the character selection screen and our character spawning area a bit too close to each other
-
At what point does it crash on your computer?
-
The delay is meant to deter join / part flooding and in the most part is working.

Chances are something is wrong with your Client or the Game. You could be selecting the incorrect version of your game in the Client. Or you could be running a crack that does not currently support MTA. The last result is that your Operating System handles memory a little bit differently then most and it is conflicting with how we do some things. Try a different version / crack / etc...

Twink is exactly right. If we were sending extremely large packets of data, then compression would definitely help. But we are actually sending a ton of tiny packets as we receive them, so compressing them would most likely add more overheard then keeping them uncompressed.
-
Maybe you should post here what you had to do to fix your problem so others can also fix theirs (if they havent already).
-
[game-exe] location=D:\vice city\gta-vc.exe
-
If it was only that easy RdP.
-
You may want to completely uninstall MTA and GTA:VC, removing the entire directory structure and all files. Then reinstall GTA:VC, then MTA ... all should work fine. If you reinstall overtop of what you have, certain files may not be replaced.
-
You have a badly designed network then. I have never heard of this Server bringing down a proper network ... so there is not much we can do about this. We will try to fix the crashing bugs, that is all.
-
You must start the game via the MTA Client, and not manually. If you have specified an incorrect exe file, try opening the mta.ini located in your windows root directory and editing the location portion to match the full path to the exe. There is another topic about this ....

Try this, you sound like the second or third error. http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=3842
