MTA is 100% Free. ASE, which is the Server Browser that MTA uses is a registration-required product, but you can use it for free for the First 30 days, and continue to use it with a pop-up every 7 days after that (one click, then gone for 7 days). Free is good.

Just PC, no PS2 or XBox

I have determined the problem and have fixed it. It ended up being some old ListingServer code that I had left in and I guess forgot to comment out. The new Server will be released with the patch, or if that takes to long I will release it seperately.

If you are hosting the game locally (running your own server), type in localhost or the LAN IP instead of the Internet Address (Real IP). May work ...

We have all met along the way, not in real life.

Free assuming you have a copy of GTA:VC. -
We are looking into ways to expand the modability and mission coding of MTA in the future, so you will just have to wait and see what happens. We are still learning what we can do every single day.
-
Yeah, 0.2 has been out for quite a while now and is still played by hundreds at any given time. Definitely check it out if you have GTA:VC and wish to have some fun.
-
I have narrowed this problem down and a fix will be released when the next Server is released (whenever that may be).

We ran a small 10 player test last night to get some feedback on how the stunt server is shaping up so far. The lucky few who took part gave it the thumbs up. Some issues remain as ever so work will continue on it and the first version will hopefully be completed in time to be released with our upcoming crash fix patch for mta:vc 0.2.

I know I sound like a freak, but hopefully you guys were able to have some fun with it. Thanks for posting the audio for us, that is great.

If anyone knows of any staff from this site please ask them to contact me, or email me their contact information at [email protected] Thanks in advance.

MTA checks the CRC of the files that truly change how the game acts. Changing the models of the vehicles does not really affect anything in the end, except for you display. Whereas, changing the speed of a vehicle or the amount of damage weapons take, really changes the way the game feels.
-
No, there isn't and no, there probably never will be.

We don't really know, that is the problem. I fired up Win98 the other day (yes, i finally installed it), and tried doing some preliminary memory scanning, and everything seemed completely out of wack. A few of the addresses were the same, which is good, but then many were quite different. So, it is going to be a hard one to find. In theory, the memory should be similar, but we all know that the difference between 9x-based OS's and NT-based OS's are very very large.
-
Linux does not get to run the Client, only a Server. Windows 98 is quite different and we have to do a manual searching for new addresses and the way it handles memory, which is not a fun experience.

I doubt that MTA is possible on Xbox for many reasons, but I will state the most obvious. MTA works with having direct access to the game's memory, and since the Xbox will use this tunnel to pass information back and forth over the internet, I doubt we would be able to have enough access to the actual game (the xbox system) to be able to read and write the actual data that is being pushed across the network. That, along with the fact that we would have to somehow learn how to interface with the Xbox system and also this Xbox live / tunnel thing, that it would be a lot of work that chances are would never be able to be done. Hell, if somehow wants to donate an Xbox development system to me then I would be willing to take a look, but I can make a 99.9% promise that something like this cannot happen on exclusive systems like the Xbox.

Btw, this has nothing to do with MTA. This is actually a problem with the game, GTA:VC and GTA3, in itself ... I guess MTA just brings out the best of the game
-
Well that is god damn weird ... we will have to check that one out.
-
We will also support ASE, as they have been great to us ... both with be Server options.
-
You can also execute the MTAClient.exe file with the -resetgamepath argument to reset the location of the game.
-
Well, he is saying port 4005, which leads me to believe that it is not ASE and either the ListingServer code (which _should_ be inactive right now), or the AdminServer code (most likely). I have a feeling that it isn't being closed / destroyed somewhere ...

I will have to look into it, but at this point I cannot figure out what the hell would be causing this. But, I will continue to look into it.
