We are using multiple webservers but only 1 handles the forum. So if that one is down the site is up but the forums down

My theory for having "story-mode" multiplay.
Blokker_1999 replied to Soapurb's topic in General MTA:VC
not possible. First : it would mean we would have to create a server that knows the map and has a form of AI to move the actors/vehicles Second : The bandwith required would be enormous, near to impossible to pay for third : Both GTA3 and VC have limitations for number of vehicles and actors that can be handled at once. We are already at those limitations. -
When you mean the mod VMP you should say VMP and not Vice Multiplayer cause MTA:VC can be refered to as Vice Multiplayer as well since MTA excists out of a GTA3 multiplayer and a Vice Multiplayer

trust : the progressbars aren't displayed correctly in mozilla.

How can I contact the people at mta?
Blokker_1999 replied to a topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
there's one prb kent : as far as i know all @mtavc.com and @multitheftauto.com mail addys are down -
indeed, a balance should be reached. the banner from wojjie can be removed. i wuld also recommend to make the top banner wider and (re)move the login don't use frames cause the design now is binded to one optimal resolution it is only IE compatible and seems to use a lot of graphics and please note that the team has been debating the future of the site (including the template) so altough you are creating a verry nice template, please don't be dissapointed if we do not use it in the end.

Our IRC server has received a heavy ddos attack and is down. At this moment we do not know how long it will stay down. We are working towards a solution as we speak. Edit: We have moved to irc://irc.gamesurge.net/multitheftauto until we resolve this matter.

mta servers take verry litle cpu power but require a lot of bandwith. The reason we use so litle cpu power compared to a HL/Q3/... server is because almost no serverside calculations happen. Almost everything happens clientside.

i don't know the entire story, but if you got problems with mods you should complain with the admins (me, ijs, cray). And if Bump has a probl with a user he should do the same and i have seen neither.

I think VMP needs to learn there place and even more learn the difference between the MTA community and the MTA team. I've been abscent of the board for some time now and i had to read up the entire thread at once and i noticed that the VMP team members seem to nag that we, the mta team, criticese them a lot while in fact all critics in this thread are coming from the community. Second. There have been many attempts to duplicate the succes of MTA. All have failed. Recent attempts include gtam and gtaXc. All came with a lot of promises and all disappeared even faster. I won't judge the project on it's own, but i do think that we are in a position to say some things about the team members from what was posted here. One thing that i noticed is the verry agressive/selfish tone of smithers2. Cray made a remark on your board, and a valid one. In your screenshot section there is 1 pic that can't be loaded. Why not remove it? What does smithers2 do? he states that we are worried (in fact claiming that they are superior). He then didn't read the post of cray correctly and concludes that we visit there site constantly. At that point you should ask urself why we do get along with ggm and gtat and not with vmp. What does helping people have to do with respect? We respect our community and our community respects us. We also request to our community that they respect all other mods. Which sometimes they fail to do. We don't help? We got a manual, a faq a brand new support board. Places enough to request help. Wait till you get dozens of emails daily asking where they can download it, how to connect to a server or where to find servers and so on. And how do gaming companys support there fan base? They don't do much better then we and they receive money, we don't. And if you are refering to building mp mods? well why should we help other teams with building other mp mods? All we do in our team is work on our mod. That is what we do. We don't have the knowledge to help people with modeling problems and such since we don't have modellers! You don't ask microsoft to help you write a new OS. Mr smithers2, get ur fact straight and think twice before you say something please. and before anyone says anything : this post is a personal reaction and not a statement from the team!

We know that certain cracks do not work and we see no reason to find a solution for it. There is more important work. The usage of cracks is in fact illegal and we do not support illegal software. We encourage ppl to buy the game if they want to play it. We have not taken any action to block cracks, since that is not our line of work. We will not tell you where to find a working crack and we certainly will not post up cracks ourselves or allow anyone to put up links on our boards/irc.

It has been stated on the board on different occasions, i even recently reported it again. 0.4 is written on the old core with the old netcode and so on, since that core doesn't support Win9x, neither will 0.4 . We are alo working on a new core This core is written from scratch and has a new netcode, a new way of accessing GTA and so on, up til now this core is compatible with Win9x, but we can not guarantee that it will stay that way, altough we hope it will.
-
MTA 0.4 is build on the same core as 0.2, 0.2.2 and 0.3 and uses the same netcode and the same way of memory hacking so it is unlikly that the major problems are solved. This is why we are also building a new core with a new netcode and a new way of using GTA and MTA together.

Today we are launching a first section of a new support system. A new support board. This board is devoted to giving support and will be heavily moderated! All problems should be posted there from now on. You can find the link to the board and some guidelines here . This board uses the same user database as the general board: you do not need to register.

Both weather and time are synced atm, and in my opinion a weather sync is important, A time sync could be important as well since in some situations it is easyer to spot someone in daylight, and sometimes at night.

Language Specific Forum!
Blokker_1999 replied to TwwIX's topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
1. I'm not american, english isn't even my first language, it isn't even an official language in this country 2. We are modding a game that is labeled +18, and as far as i know they teach english in most countrys, so by the time someone is 18 they should know some basic english 3. If we throw it all in one section, then that becomes one big mess and no one would go there to even check it out. 4. Do you even know what the biggest problems are for most ppl? The number one question is : where can i download MTA, in second place : where do i find servers, in third place : how does this work, do i need to go on? and all these questions are answered in a verry good way in the step by step guide which is available in over 15 languages, but if they can't find that, then what makes you think they can find a multi langue section on this board? -

Language Specific Forum!
Blokker_1999 replied to TwwIX's topic in Site/Forum/Discord/Mantis/Wiki related
The reason we don't allow foreign languages on IRC is because none of the (half) ops speak it so we can not see what they are saying for all we know they are talking on how to crack MTA and we wouldn't even know it. Also #mta counts about 50 users on avarae from whom 40 are idle, that means only a couple of ppl are available. The chance that they speak a foreign language is small. And do not forget that we do not have a help channel on IRC but a discussion channel. Creating multiple language sections on the bard creates the same problem: it is difficult to moderate. Off course we could only put up sections for languages we and our mods speak, but that would be discriminating and it would still mean a limited number of sections. Our step-by-step guide has been translated in many languages, most ppl just need to read that, but they can't seem to find it . If we create 20 sections for 20 different languages the board would become huge, we won't have any control over those section, and all those sections would contain the same questions. And finally : the most used language on the net is English, if you don't speak it you can hardly get anywhere, if you don't speak it you can barely get MTA downloaded and running. You can't read the manual or anything. Now think about it. How many games do you know that supports a dozen languages? GTA supports 5 and as most know : that's a lot! Also check the boards of the big games and tell me how many languages you count! -
security wise i would suggest you use every update available

what about a seperate board for the gangs? Where we can set some general sections and a section for every gang that every gang leader can moderate? It can be created to operate on itself, but with the usertable linked to this board
