We have an improved anti-cheat in development, its just a matter of finding time to work on it between working on DM, which is our current priority.

Its not as atmospheric as VC, but I still think SA is a better game overall, if only due to the size and variety the map offers.

I think mirrors are special objects, I'm not sure you'll be able to make them.

A clean install of 1.0 should never generate a failed verification. If it fails, it must be a user created problem (e.g. they have mods installed), so they should be able to fix it. If we added more descriptive errors it would help cheaters.

We actually haven't tried to support 2.0, so we've no idea if it is hard or not. Either way, we won't be supporting it for now - we've got enough on our hands as it is.

MTA 0.5 does not include ASE. You do not need ASE to play MTA. MTA 0.5 includes a built-in server browser. If you do use ASE, you can just ignore it when it nags you to buy it for as long as you want.

The problem is linux is case sensitive, you can have a file called myMap.map and mymap.map. If we made voting case insensitive, which map would it be loading?

Many people experience things in their lives that affect them - 9/11 affected many people, but equally as others have said many people have been affected by murder and other violence and theres a lot of that in GTA and many movies. These people generally don't campaign to stop violent games and movies, they just don't play or watch them. So, if you don't like a map - don't play it - make a point and "vote with your feet" by not playing on servers with it on - tell whoever is running it this fact. Nationalism has caused many wars, so lets keep it out of the discussion.

GTA is full of things that are not acceptable to general society, as are many other games. We will not remove these maps, they may be in poor taste, but thats not for us to decide.

Modifying the memory of a process running on your PC is not illegal. Even if it was, two wrongs don't make a right.

We can increase the limits to some extent, though we then start hitting other limits too. We've already almost doubled some of GTA's built in limits. We do intend to change to using buildings rather than objects, although this has the downside that buildings are not very flexible to use - they don't really like moving at all, and map makers would have to specify if a model should be a building or an object (objects are dynamic, and are required for things you want to destroy/move like the hay bales etc)...

You must have a modified game file, these can survive a reinstall, particularily if they're dlls. Try reinstalling to another directory or entirely delete your existing GTA directory.

Well, you can hand-pick using the rss, just by adding single maps.

Well, as far as I'm aware, mtaserver is compiled for 32 bit, and applications that are 32 bit can only link with modules that are also 32 bit. So, make sure you compile it for 32 bit! We can't release a 64bit server as some of the components we use are closed-source 32 bit libraries...

What about open sourcing it and putting it on sourceforge?

Thats not true, anal sex doesn't achieve the purpose of sex, unlike Java which generally achieves the purpose of a programing language...
