Are you using MTA 1.1.1 or 1.1?
-
May i remind people that MTA is product that is still in development and is being developed in peoples spare time. We try to do our best but sometimes things go wrong. Most problems get reported pretty quickly and we are always improving our error reporting systems to solve bugs faster. Most problems in the current 1.10 will be adressed in the (near) future.

Wemade a deal with IGN. No we are not getting paid, a release on the frontpage of fileplanet (one of the biggest gaming sites in the world) is important for us.
-
there are some, but they just exploit some bugs to get them running with a modified savegame or something i beleive.
-
Since the documentation for the admin protocol has been released anyone could write a simple program to send such and other messages.
-
Both GTA and MTA system requirements state Windows 2000 or XP
-
sometimes you can find new bits of information on the blog.
-
True_spin, it is verry doubtfull that the problem is our server. It is more likely that either your ISP is blocking the IP range that we use or that your ISPs DNS servers can not resolve a route. We are not responsible for your ISPs network or our ISPs network and therefore there is not much we can do. And are you sure this problem excists for all users of freenet and strato? Did you try to contact your ISP and ask them if they know the reason? In the end it's not like we are blocking someone from viewing our website.

Devine, if a solution does not work it will not be posted on the wiki. The people that write most of the documentation on there are experienced and most of the information is that what is found on this forums and written by the devs themselves. There is absolutely no point in telling someone that it has been verified by you since it has been verified by so many people already. Your second addition was a bit useless as well, you told people to check some files while the sentence in front of your edit already stated that MTA only works on a clean unmodified install.

something like isn't really an addition to the wiki

The MTA server uses little resources as far as i know. But bandwith is indeed another problem. Also Jrm20, there is an error in your calculations The used upload bandwith does not increase in a linear way, but it increases exponantially. Let's have a look at a worst case scenario. Everyone close together, doing all sorts of things that have to be synced. Every player sends out 2 kB (i'm gonna go with bytes, smaller numbers, and the bandwith i descirbe is in theory and not on practical measurements). If there are 2 players in the server, the server receives 2 kB from each player and has to upload 2kb to each player (4kB in, 4 kB out) Let's add a player. It receives 2kB from each player but has to send 4kB to each player now) (6 in, 12 out), if we add another player it would be 8 in and 24 out. Off course that is the theory.

changing the resolution during the game makes the game crash when MTA is loaded. And how often do you chane your resolution/controls? I never access those things after i have set them the first time ...

just reconnect, anti cheat is agressive

Before you start posting, pleasefollow the tips in the forum rules page. a link to this page is given everytime you post something. If you did you would have known that we have a good guide on http://www.mtavc.com/docu/index.php/R1. ... 28Linux%29 -
Not with all the hacks we have.
-
well, the admin can do what he want on the server. I think kicking for high ping isn't fair either and everytime someone asks me to kick someone with a pinh above 100 i feel the need to kick the requester. As long as you have no major lag there is no reason to kick someone.
-
why is this in the MTA support section? MTA does not change any files from the single player game. The save games are stored under "my documents" and MTA simply doesn't touch them. Did you change user on your PC by any chance?
-
just try it yourself

Known Cheater Rank

it's not like you just received the rank... -
this is old. We even told people to change that file when we had the ASE problems. The correct file should be called hosts and not hosts.cfg . Fastest way to get to the file is to click on start, then run and put the following in the text field: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts then press ok. Please note that virusscanners and anti spyware tools will report this file as beeing changed. Check the content on a regular basis to make sure no malware added anything new.
