Open up your C:\WINDOWS\mta.ini with notepad, and edit the line that's supposed to point to your gta-vc.exe Or just delete your C:\WINDOWS\mta.ini

You'll have to download 2 things to run a server: http://www.mtavc.com/downloads.php?file_id=41 and http://www.mtavc.com/downloads.php?file_id=40 Install both of them in your MTA folder, and run the server configuration tool... Then run the server. Voila! Your own server

Try deleting C:\WINDOWS\mta.ini, and try to set the path again. You can also try opening C:\WINDOWS\mta.ini, and changing the [gta-vc.exe] thing...

Take a whack at using it with some other video editor... That could just be Adobe Premiere putting that background on there. Perhaps you set the video size too large in Premiere, and the border appears automatically.

One would ALSO hope that the MTA team would try and create the most bug-free release as possible, and as quickly as possible, instead of spending time creating features that only a minority would use and may simply create additional bugs. Remember: This is a BETA. Not a features release... The idea is to get basic gameplay down before trying anything else. Currently THERE ARE NO TEAMS. There ARE however, classes. Just ignore the 'teamplay' description in the character selection screen, unless the server operator says that it's a teamplay server.

To connect to your own server on your own computer, just use 'localhost' (no quotes) in MTA.

It would be a nice feature and all, the problem is getting the police AI to work in MTA... You'd need to know quite a bit about how it works...

Almost every mod is installed differently... No real standard I'm afraid. And it's RARELY as simple as installing a mod for Half Life or something. Just search for a GTA3 mod site, there are a bunch of good mods there

The problem with all the money suggestions is that it seems to encourage pacifism... Not the best thing for MTA IMHO. I mean, why would you be a big boss guy, sending people out as assasins, when you could be an assasin, and have some fun chasing people down?... It's just that there's no real reason to send people out instead of doing it yourself...

Yes, I've heard of this problem before... I seem to have forgotten the fix though... Using the english version of VC? Any cracks? Is the CD in the drive? Does it work with single player? What OS do you have?
