Has no-one learnt the problems with predicted release dates from Half-Life 2 and Duke Nukem Forever?
-
Sorry mate, you're about the 50th person to suggest that. Why make the 750th CS clone? Why not make a mode that's more suited to GTA's gameplay?
-
Nope. P.S. They don't like you asking for release dates.
-
The "x" means "any number". When people say "0.4.x" they mean the 0.4 series, like when people say "Win 9x" they mean Windows 95 and 98.
-
A few? You make it sound as if there are only 3 or 4 players now I'm not sure if what you say is true because surely there would be loads of people still playing 0.3? And what do you mean by "most people don't like mta 0.4(1)"? What do you mean "most people"? I think the loss of demand is a combination of bugs, not enough changes to VC and the fact that the gameplay flaws still remain (e.g. a lack of objectives). They tried to correct this in GTA3 with the use of purchasable weapons, Turismo mode and Pay 'n' Sprays. It would be good if they introduced this into VC in 0.4.5 (particularly Turismo mode, which would benefit from VC's wider array of vehicles).

It includes an extra map and synced skins for GTA3, not to mention bug fixes.

It's good that they've decided to increase in 5% increments now, as it means more frequent progress updates. One thing that surprised me was that the next version of 0.4.x is 0.4.5. I was expecting it to be 0.4.2, but it's obviously a larger update than I imagined it to be. Yeah, I really think they should sort out the main site as there's a lot of outdated stuff (i.e. the First Time User Guide is for 0.2. I know its still pretty relevant but it confuses people). Another thing is the support section / forum that hardly anyone visits.

I get what you are saying... First impressions last and people who check in on it now may not stop back... Yeah, I remember telling someone once about it and they said "Oh yeah, I played it once and the players just kind of floated around without walking properly" and instantly rejected it despite me saying that 0.4 didn't have that problem. Perhaps when Blue is released you could persuade some magazines or web sites to review it in order to tempt people who were dissuaded by previous versions. I'm not sure that MTA in its current state would get high scores due to the bugs, relative user unfriendliness and gameplay limitations (all of which I overlook when I play, btw).
-
Yeah, but I preferred the machineguns because you can't see where you're going when you do a driveby. Passenger drivebys would be great though.
-
Yeah, that's why I'm saying that they should concentrate on the more important features.
-
Of course there will be lag. It's impossible to avoid lag in online games, but the team have tried their hardest to reduce it. I don't see free-roam spectate as a feature that will "make or break" MTA.
-
That wasn't the problem. The problem was how does the user get the MP3 files on their PC in the first place?
-
Yeah, it's a pity that you can only attach mines to cars in GTA3 and VC. I had great fun with machine gun cars in GTA2 (I think they had infinite ammo too).
-
I have found that in GTA3:MTA the fighting tends to be concentrated at Ammunation. Yeah, generally, but not on the scale of stubby wars in VC.
-
It'd use up about the same bandwidth as Teamspeak (for talk radio anyway. Music uses a broader range of frequencies than speech so it would require slighlty more bandwidth. You'd never expect it to be the same quality as normal radio though).
-
I think the first MTA (GTA3:MTA 0.1) may have had that, but all current netcode is entirely their own.
-
If I was "thinking about Unreal", I'd be playing Unreal. What's the point in designing a game so that it's exactly like all the rest? You can't remove the cars or it won't be Grand Theft Auto anymore. But I agree that players in Deathmatch need more of a goal to focus on. Again, why stay with the tried-and-tested modes? There are plenty of games which offer these. MTA should offer modes which are specific and relevant to GTA's core gameplay.
-
The user won't see servers for mods that they haven't got, so I don't see what the problem is.
-
Now it is, certainly, but why can't Blue's protection be on a par with other games?

http://download.sis.com/ Try clicking on the "Identify your product" link at the side.
-
But doesn't it backup the old file and overwrite main.scm when you run MTA?
-
It's called MTAClient.exe. As Rebel said, the "Start Multi Theft Auto" text isn't appearing because MTA's not overwriting GTA's main.scm file with its own version, for some reason. Check that the main.scm file isn't read-only and that you have no mods or anything installed.

So was the sound working before you formatted?
-
So what changed to make it stop working?
