I'll definitely play GTA3 first because that's had the largest changes (i.e. new maps).

This could be one of two things: 1. You installed some mods for single player. Solution: Reinstall GTA3. 2. You don't have GTA3 installed in the default location and you didn't specify the new location when you installed MTA, thus it's looking for the files in the wrong place. Solution: Reinstall MTA and make sure it's set to the correct directory in the installer.

They still need to get the translated help files sorted out. I'm not sure if they'll postpone the release until that happens.

With that said, the dev update looked as if they'd paid some attention to stunt, so this may result in an increase in servers anyway. The best stunt server used to be Iyon_UK's, but that has now disappeared. I heard that they're planning to bring it back but I don't know when (possibly after the release of 0.4.5).

I suppose some of the server's processing could be distributed like they do with stem cell research, but it could make cheating easier and MTA doesn't support that feature anyway.

Speed is also dependant on the server and the country it is located in. The only problem with PHPBB at the moment is that it's in dire need of an update and PHPBB 3.0 should be released pretty soon.

I'm not sure that that would be possible. It would probably increase bandwidth usage more actually, because it would have to send extra data to sync between servers.
