  1. People got confused when Race went from beta to semi-public beta (horrible name), so for DM we changed the name from beta to alpha. DM is currently in alpha stage and will progress to a beta with more players, chosen by invitation. Then it will enter Release Candidate (RC) stage when it is considered to ready for release. RC stage should be very short.
  2. No, because everyone on the server will have to have the mod installed, so it wouldn't be classed as a cheat. The MTA team will not release the entire source code for that reason.
  3. PHPBB's search feature isn't brilliant. Just try to be as specific as possible and narrow your search down to relevant categories.
  4. Well, MTA:DM has a friendly fire option that can be switched on.
  5. Back on topic please. Remember: this is not a thread for suggesting game modes, it is for making feature suggestions for a vanilla DM mode.

    Wiki Research

Agreed. Post the start dates and let people decide for themselves.
  7. I'd like an RPG mode where you actually fight rather than walking about and getting kicked from the server if you shoot. I think augmenting the fighting aspect of the game with RPG abilities would be fun. MTA:SA DM has a lot of potential for RPG. The dimension system that was allowed on the blog would allow you to create a massive area many times larger that the size of GTA's map, and you could add various objects to each dimension to make each one unique.
  8. Don't you normally look at the nametags anyway in order to see how much health they have left (and whether your hits are registering)? That's what I do.
  9. We don't really play the game. All we do is meet in the server and test things out, trying to find new bugs and replicate existing ones. This involves being very patient and trying the same thing over and over again. This requires full co-operation from the other people on the server. You don't want to be killed whilst you're trying to replicate a bug. If we opened it up to loads of people, they would just play, most people would not report bugs and those that did would probably report them in a vague way. Very few of them would be reports that the team could work with.
  10. The same place. Alternatively, you could make it so that entering any pizza place takes you to the same dimension or you could make it so that entering a pizza place takes you to your own dimension where you don't see anyone else.

    Question.

The progress bar was scrapped because people kept using it to make predictions on when MTA would be released, and then got angry because their predictions were wrong.
  12. It's possible by changing the player stats but it's not possible with every weapon.

    Beta testing?

There are still some features left to implement and a list of bugs that need to be fixed before beta.
  14. Well why would they support SA-MP if they think MTA is better?
  15. I don't understand why there are flamewars. I mean, if people only support one mod, why are they even visiting the other mod's forum?
  16. Just so that you know, the SDK will not be released at the same time as deathmatch. It will come later - it could be after a few more releases.
  17. It goes through the server. You never connect directly to other people.
  18. Deathmatch is the priority at the moment, but I hope that at some point these features will be backported to Race.
  19. License plates are set when the car spawns and you can't change them when someone else enters.
  20. Yep, there will be a public release after the private beta. I'm not sure if the public release will be classed as a public beta or not.
  21. As many eagle-eyed fans noticed from some recent pictures in the Picture Gallery, customisable synced license plates are now possible, and map creators can change player stats to suit the gameplay of the map. This allows for many possibilities such as fat CJ's, dual weapon wielding and faster movement, for example. Also, MTA can now load interiors when a player goes into a building. The map creator can choose whether or not to allow players to see each other, allowing you to create a "safe house" if you wish. The team has very few features left to implement before going into beta, although some of these will take longer than others. It's impossible to give a timeframe, but rest assured that we are close. The beta will be an invitation-only affair, with invitees chosen at the discretion of the MTA and QA teams. Please do not ask to be included, and do not be offended if you are not chosen. The bugs found in the beta will be fixed by the team. When they feel happy with the quality of the mod, they will release a Release Candidate to the QA team. We will then test this and if it has no noticeable bugs, it will be released publicly. If not, the team will fix the bugs and release another RC and the process will begin again. We cannot give a timeframe for these events as we simply do not know. You'll be glad to know that the extensive testing of Race helped a lot in reducing the bugs in the Blue core but we do not know how many we will find when we start testing with more players. -- QA Team
  22. It's impossible for it to be perfect. There are lots of factors that affect it.
  23. He said every game, not just MTA.
  24. Download-speed is more important because when you upload data, you will only be uploading data for one person (you). When you download data, you will be downloading it for all persons in your vicinity. But as Jax says, upload speed is still important.
