  1. They're using a different method that bypasses the SCM (GTA's mission scripting system) but they haven't really given any further details. It might be something they want to keep secret. As far as I know, all other competing mods use the SCM.

    wow

To be honest, all of your components barely meet the requirements. I reckon you'd really notice a difference if you added another 256 MB stick of RAM. You could also use a 64 MB card. GeForce 2's are quite old, and the 2 MX is a cut-down version so it's even slower. I think a 128 MB one would be bottlenecked by your CPU though.
  3. I can imagine that the way CJ turns around when you press backwards will annoy people as they'll get shot in the back, but I'm sure people's strategies will adapt with time. If people have the option to switch this off, this would definitely give them an advantage in multiplayer over people who have it switched on, so I'm not sure if an option to switch to classic controls will work for multiplayer. That goes for the "press button to aim" feature too.
  4. If MTA:SA is the priority at the moment (and it seems safe to assume that MTA:SA will be released before Blue for VC), are you guys going to convert it to SA or wait for the VC release? I could see SA offering some advantages in terms of size.

    wow

I can get 1024x768x32 with max detail (no extras like AA though) and it plays smoothly when coupled with 512 MB RAM and a 64 MB GeForce FX Go (IIRC). I'm not sure if I can get it higher because 1024x768 is my laptop's maximum resolution.
  6. I'd imagine that that would be the job of third-party developers.
  7. But we don't know how soon MTA:SA will be released. It's pointless releasing 0.5.5 if MTA:SA gets released a week later and everyone starts playing that instead.
  8. Here's how it works: You move your player and the MTA client (interfaced with the game) realises this. The client then sends this data to the server, which sends it to corresponding clients. Upon receiving it, these clients force the pedestrians on your screen (since that's what other players essentially are) to that particular position. All data is handled by the MTA client running in the background, not GTA.

    wow

Yeah, it does actually say it requires a minimum of 64 MB.
  10. I recall one of the team members saying that 0.5.5 and Blue were being developed simultaneously but if Blue for VC was released first, it would be pointless to continue developing 0.5.5.

    Micheal Jackson

No record company will sign him for fear of reprisal by Mothers Against Michael Jackson (or whatever).
  12. I guess that would also be the same for San Andreas. eAi said that there is an external program required, only the user doesn't notice it because it starts up GTA automatically. What I meant is would they combine releases? Although, on second thoughts, it might be best not to because I remember people complaining about 0.4 because most of the work had gone into GTA3.
  13. Is it possible that there will be a combined client like 0.4/0.5 in the future?
  14. It depends how you define early, but I know for a fact that they will not give a definite release date.
  15. I think customisable characters work better in RPG game modes. If people just want to race hydras or something, having customisable characters would be unnecessary.
  16. Are the markers 3D so that you don't have them cluttering up the radar? P.S. Great work.

    wow

Looks like your CPU's the weakest link there. I've got a crappy 64 MB card and it runs fine with my 2.6 GHz P4.

    Micheal Jackson

Whether he's guilty or not doesn't matter anymore... his career is still finished, like OJ Simpson's after he was cleared of his murder charges.
  19. What? You're kidding? No-one mentioned that at all in this 8 page topic [/sarcasm] I'm really tempted to lock this. If you can be bothered to read all 8 pages, you'll see repetition after repetition.

    wohhoooo

I get that. It seems like the faster you drive, the less responsive the steering is when in real life it's the other way round.
  21. He's not saying to get rid of the new controls, just to have an option to have the old ones back should you wish to.
  22. Interesting... I thought someone had done a range ban and you were within the IP range, but it turns out that your address was banned manually. I have no idea why this was done but I've unbanned you for now. It seems strange to ban the IP instead of the account, as is usually the case.
  23. There are few players currently because they are put off by the limitations of the current core, in particular the lag. I would expect the player count to increase with the release of MTA:SA on the Blue core.
