It'll probably be the same price in the shops but it should be cheaper on eBay because lots of people will be selling it after they've completed single player.

I increased my swap file to 2048 MB and managed to get 1024x768x32 (my laptop screen's max resolution apparently) with maximum visual quality. I haven't yet tried AA, but I don't expect it'll be playable with that switched on due to my graphics card.
-
Yeah, they said that it requires a lot of RAM so that stands to reason. You might gain extra performance from setting them both to the same value so that Windows doesn't have to waste CPU cycles dynamically allocating space for the swap file. I might try that, but 4 GB does seem a bit excessive though.

I got it this morning and tried it out and it seems to work fine on my laptop, running at a decent FPS at 800x600x32. Strangely the cop car in the opening movie seemed to judder as it moved (much like when you're a passenger in a car in MTA) but once in game, everything was fine.

Putting the exe on high priority can cause side-effects because it takes processing priority away from some Windows processes. I've tried that before but some games gave me "out of virtual memory" messages because Windows wasn't updating the swap file quickly enough, whilst others had erratic mouse and keyboard behaviour because Windows wasn't processing the messages quickly enough.

That doesn't sound like the kind of thing that works very often and you also have to think about the extra power consumption that a faster card may have. Edit: Oh btw, Oyst3r, Take 2 have updated their FAQ with info about the Geforce 4 MX: http://www.take2games.com/index.php?p=s ... ection=faq

Well, I'm planning to run it on a laptop so if it doesn't work, I have no way of upgrading it. It's fairly fast though - P4 2.6, 512 MB RAM, both of which exceed the requirements. The video card though is a 64 MB Geforce FX which is the minimum requirement so I'm not certain how well it will run.

Surely with Blue both would be possible? (not sure about 150 players though)

Do you have internet access on your LAN? If not, there's a bug in the client that causes it to crash if it can't download the MOTD. Here's a fix: Ok, after getting past that problem, you need to specify one machine as the server host. It is generally better for this to be the fastest machine. On the host, click on the Setup Server tab, sort out the settings that you want and deselect the Announce to ASE checkbox. Then click on Start Server. Before you go any further, go to Start > Run and type cmd and press enter. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig and write down the address listed under IP Address. This is what you will need to type into the other machines in order to connect to the host. Now go back to the Connect tab and enter the IP address as localhost and click Connect. On the other machines, go to the Connect tab and enter the IP address that you wrote down earlier and click Connect. It would be good if the server browser looked for LAN games but unfortunately it doesn't appear to.

There isn't a team deathmatch mode but some servers may run team deathmatch scripts.

It depends on whether there's sufficient demand for a GTA3 version. That will probably depend on how well accepted GTA:LC is. I've never played it but I have a feeling that the motorbikes and helicopters won't feel "right" because they weren't in the original.

No warez discussions please.

I think blogging is a good idea to keep people regularly visiting the site. I've noticed that some people only seem to post when there's a news update. Btw, I'm sure there must be a blogging script for PHPBB somewhere.
-
I'm sure GTA:LC will be able to run on Blue (it's mentioned on the Blue info page) but I'm not sure that the MTA team will do anything directly with the GTA LC team.

Bump did use the term "rapid approach" which would imply a release sooner rather than later.

The forums seem really deserted some presumably most people are playing it. Us Europeans however have to wait until the 10th (as always *sigh*).
-
MTA doesn't support modding at the present time, so I have moved this topic into the non-MTA section of the forum.
-
I thought this problem was solved by generating the cars when you get close to them, that's why if you go too far away from you car it disappears? That idea doesn't work in multiplayer though, as people can be dotted about the entire map whereas the player will only be in one place in single player.
-
Ah, that answers so many questions. Thanks Bump.

It'll probably be even less on eBay.

Yeah but McAffee accuses MTA itself of being a virus -
They mean version 1.1, not this version.

I don't know where peope got the idea that Blue would automatically download mods from. It doesn't say it on mtablue.info and the devs have been saying for a long time that you will download mods from a web site, which makes it much easier to verify the source. -
I didn't think Canadian versions were censored.

It went from 65-70% about a month ago.
