  1. As far as I understand it, one of the goals of the team is to make MTA moddable. However, there are lots of bugs that the team are focusing their time on at the moment, and I'm sure you'll agree that they take precidence. At the moment, modding presents an unfair advantage, and many lamers use these on public servers. However, I can see them benefiting modes such as Stunt in a controlled environment. That would be really laggy, btw. And it could spread viruses - you never know.
  2. Does it log you out or time out?
  3. I don't reckon they'd include multiplayer in SA, as they're still obligated to use the same engine and they haven't got much time on their hands (not as much as for GTA 3). Anyway, I can't see it making much of a difference, just as the community will divide itself between GTA 3 and VC when MTA 0.4 comes out.
  4. why did they ban u? He probably has the misfortune to be in the same IP block as a cheater.
  5. Well, the firewall is enabled by default. So we'll have to explain to a lot of newbies how to get MTA to work with firewalls. The rest is stuff like new dialogs, IP 6 support, etc. I can't see it making a difference.
  6. It may be possible from a technical standpoint, but you also have to think about it from a design point of view. Take for example that mission on GTA 3 where there's the body in the trunk and the Firelli brothers are chasing you. How exactly does that work with multiple people?
  7. It can run on any port - it's just that most people leave it at the default, which is 2003. Also, some firewalls are funny about outgoing data, as it could be a DDoS attack without the user's knowledge.
  8. Oh, that didn't occur to me. If you want a step-by-step guide to setting it up for MTAMA, a guy on my forum asked me (I dunno why he didn't use the official forums - must have been a reason), so I wrote this for him: http://www.eclipse-games.co.uk/Forum/vi ... ?p=167#167
  9. But why on earth would you want to play something so outdated? What's wrong with MTA or GTAT?
  10. Think of the lag there is at the moment with a maximum of 26 players. Now add say, 100 AI controlled cars and 200 peds (I made those numbers up - I don't know what the real numbers are). Also, I played SP again the other day, and I found that I had to drive on the pavement because the AI cars would be going really slowly, etc. I've got so used to the open road on MTA that I quite enjoy it now.
  11. Are you running MTAMA from the server itself? If so, I just tested out MTAMA on mine and it didn't connect when I specified my external IP, but it did when I used my internal one (LAN IP - usually starts with 192).
  12. And you're sure it's not something on your computer stopping it (e.g. firewall)?
  13. Have you opened the admin port on the server (if it has a firewall / router)? People open the game port but often forget to open the admin port as well (default 4003).
  14. Nice one. Will this be incorporated into future versions of MTA?
  15. CPU time is related to how much time the CPU is spending executing code in this program in comparison to other programs. It's probably going through a loop constantly. Increasing the delay between loops should sort this out.
  16. Photoshop is the industry standard, and all (well, most) professional graphic artists use it. However, I presume that you are asking the question because you know little about it, and therefore I would recommend Paint Shop Pro, as it is a lot easier to get to grips with.
  17. I still don't fully understand what you mean, but here goes: MTA 0.4 combines the client for both GTA 3 and VC, and the progress bar is now at 80%. I'd say that it's unlikely to be more than a month from release.
  18. I don't think that would be an issue because the majority of cracked versions are illegally obtained ones (I think there's a legal loophole whereby if you bought the original CD, you're allowed to crack it for yourself if it broke or something). However, I can see problems in believability and continuity. True, there are loads of ped sound effects, but they all have different voices, so it would seem a bit weird if the characters said things in different voices. Also, there are certain expectations that people have, such as they would expect the Mexican's voice to be gruff and er... Mexican, and the sailor would have a (moderately) higher pitched voice than the Mexican.
  19. I think the problem is that the majority of the admins (if not all) are in the USA, and so I've found that they only seem to login at about 10.00 PM GMT, so I can play for an hour or two with an admin, but there's never one for the rest of the day. I really think you should have admins in different timezones to ensure that there is always one there.
  20. I think it will have the same options, but it will lack certain things such as the fact that there are no choppers in GTA3. The team are paying homage to GTA 3, so adding them would be out of the question. Also, a client / server are only needed to test synchronisation. Some aspects can be tested without them. Also, who says they haven't got them?
  21. Obviously, the faster ("better") the card is, the higher you can turn up the settings, so it will look better with a "better" card.
  22. Er... where is the feature list? I know there are lots of articles suggesting features, but I haven't come across an official list yet.
  23. I think most likely they have an internal "to-do" list. Completing everything on the list would equal 100%.
  24. He's just said that. And dystopia said that before him. *cough*spam*cough*
