  1. Unfortunately not. GTA 3:MTA is pretty old and the way you start a game is annoying and difficult for newbies. However, MTA 0.4 is on the horizon, which combines both GTA 3 and VC into a single client. As can be seen by various polls on the forum, there are likely to be a lot more servers for GTA 3 when this comes out.
  2. I remember hearing somewhere that some machines have different home addresses (hardly any, but a few). Also localhost is easier to remember than a string of numbers.
  3. I very much doubt it - not in the forseeable future anyway. I don't know much about Macs, but the memory hacking wouldn't work in the same way (if at all), so all code would need to be completely rewritten from scratch. (I didn't even know that there were Mac versions of GTA 3 / VC). Anyway, I'm sure the developers will be able to elaborate on this further.
  4. Sorry to double-post, but I've just accidentally found this article: http://www.betanews.com/article.php3?sid=1084264398 It seems that Microsoft thought this too.
  5. I saw the beginning of it (the first 40 mins or so) and it looked pretty good. I was then interrupted and I never got round to watching the rest, for some reason. Edit: Btw, it's Battle Royale.
  6. Yes, but I had to forcibly restart my computer. If I'd actually been doing work instead of surfing the net, it could have been quite costly if I'd had unsaved work open. Secondly, this is in the "General MTA" section of the board and so only links to sites relevant to MTA would be accepted.
  7. In the UK, BT are testing out a new ADSL technology which can operate further from the exchange than previous versions (but is currently limited to 256kbps), so I expect other countries will do this as well. Edit: I read in a magazine that about 13 electricity companies in the States are testing out broadband via standard power sockets, which would be great if it ever works out. But would hackers be able to sabotage household appliances?
  8. Yep, NTL are doing something similar: 150k -> 300k = 100% increase - £17.99 600k -> 750k = 25% increase - £24.99 1Mb -> 1.5Mb = 50% increase - £37.99 And with cable speeds so cost effective, ADSL is sure to follow suit sooner or later (unless there are technical problems).
  9. But surely this is an incentive not to buy Windows? Take that, Aba|)|)on! I've got one built into the Google toolbar, but lately a lot of popups have been getting past it. Have they changed how they work because so many people have popup blockers now? Anyway, back on topic, it's only the ports that are likely to affect it. When they say "approved online gaming application", does this require the user to verify it, or is there some sort of database listing common games?
  10. Well, they've already implied that they have. They didnt imply anything, he is saying you'll be amazed of what they did instead of using those menus (they probably wouldn't of used them anyway) or an ingame menu. No, I think he meant instead of using that menu.
  11. It is asked that people post in English because that is the language that the majority of forum users and moderators understand. People could talk about hacking MTA and suchlike in other languages so that the moderators couldn't understand it, hence this rule. Also, non-Roman languages don't display properly on Western machines.
  12. Newbs wouldn't know that.
  13. To join your own server, fire up the MTA client and put your IP as "localhost" (without " marks obviously). To find the server with the client, you will need All Seeing Eye (http://www.udpsoft.com). I have had some reports of not being able to find the server whilst on the server itself, but other people should be able to. I doubt they would ever be joined together because the extra code required would increase the memory usage of both significantly.
  14. It might do, but the link doesn't work. Does that mean that everyone higher than 41 gets inundated with spam?
  15. How can he actually find out where you live? If you do a whois on my IP, it comes up with the location of the nearest NTL data centre (which happens to be at least 10 miles away from where I live).
  16. Yeah, he's becoming Linda Wachowski (from Larry). It seems like having a sex change is the kind of thing you should do before you're famous
  17. Not unless it's really worth it. I'm not a fan of subscriptions in general, and I wouldn't have time to get my full money's-worth.
  18. Show me your Desktop 2??! What's wrong with Show me your Desktop 1?
  19. Yeah, generally I'd agree, but a lot of people seem to be bumping up topics over 3 months old lately.
  20. Notepad for email?? Do you mean me or [FMJ]Oli?
  21. What annoys me is that you have to pay the monthly fee plus £30 for the game. The decent thing to do is offer the game free and make profit on the monthly fee Yep, the value of the dollar against the pound is skyrocketing downwards (it goes down every time our interest rate goes up), so $15 will be approximately £8. However, I personally am starting to get a little tired of the Matrix franchise. Let's hope that this rekindles my love for the first film and doesn't turn into an Enter The Matrix.
  22. Is this just a one-off thing or could tracks be saved?
  23. Er... there's a difference between something being acceptable and something being legal.
