Blimey I might give your server a try sometime then.

Yeah, it seems to be for 0.2.2, but not much has changed. Here is the 0.3r2 release for VC: http://www.mtavc.com/downloads.php?file_id=60

GTA3:MTA is not newbie friendly! Basically, setting up a game for Vice City consists of using the All Seeing Eye server browser to find a server you want, clicking it and clicking Start Game on the MTA client window that appears. Remember that it is a beta, and some people have had slight problems joining games, but solutions have been posted on the forums should you have difficulties. Edit: There is currently no GTA3 / VC combo, as that is MTA 0.4 which is not yet out.
-
No problem, we were all newbies once (despite what other people may say). GTA3:MTA is pretty old so it's quite buggy and difficult to use. You won't find many servers for that. MTA:VC is a lot more popular and runs on newer technology and there are hundreds of servers listed on All Seeing Eye: http://www.udpsoft.com MTA 0.4 is currently in development and combines GTA3 and VC into one client (resulting in GTA3 being equal technology-wise to MTA:VC). As you can see from the home page, this is approximately 80% complete but shouldn't take much longer as the team are just ironing out some bugs. Edit: Btw, I meant to say that this should pretty much even up the two versions popularity-wise as GTA3 offers more tense gameplay whereas Vice is larger and more relaxing.

One question: How fast is OC192? I remember reading a while back that OC48 was the fastest you could get (I think it's about 2-3Gbps )
-
Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I was a bit concerned that this might impact negatively time-wise on 0.4, but if their work is done then that's fine.
-
What about Far Cry? That's meant to have a long range and I know it has a sniper rifle. Tribes 2 has a laser rifle but that's different because it fires a long red laser beam which you can trace back to where it came from.
-
Yep, it's a great idea. It ensures an even spread of each game (otherwise I'd probably just play GTA3 which I prefer). But I can guarantee that n00bs still won't be happy...
-
Yep, I like the way that the team respect and don't like to tinker with the core GTA gameplay (probably one of the main reasons for MTA's success).
-
It's not difficult once you get used to it, but it's still not as straightforward (nor as n00b friendly) as a car.

Trackballs aren't good for anything. Although I'll admit that they're good for lazy people because you don't have to move your whole hand... I've got a touchpad on my laptop (there's not much difference between them and trackballs) and it is awful for games - I end up looking up in the air all the time. And it's difficult to be precise with it as well. Btw, where's everyone else?

I've got an Intellimouse Explorer on one PC and it's all nice and ergonomic and really comfortable (right-handed). On my other PC, I've got an ambidextrous Labtec mouse which is too small and my hand doesn't fit naturally onto it so it feels weird (and I have to move my finger too far to use the scroll wheel )
-
Yeah, it's pretty good. I can't see this topic going further though (hint hint moderators).
-
I find ambidextrous mice a bit uncomfortable and I can never perform as well gaming-wise using them (that's my excuse anyway ) However, I have seen a few left-handed mice on the market but there's not much demand because, as you say, most people use their right hand for the mouse.

Yeah, it'd become more popular than heli-killing because heli-killing has an element of skill in that it's difficult to fly the damn thing.
-
Nah, you don't get that in other games and snipers seem to be balanced there...
-
That was in a MTA:GTA3 video, they havent messed with any of the data in VC to do that. Cars in GTA3 are 1-hit kills anyway. Are they? I didn't know that.
-
Yeah, but you have to have that to balance it otherwise it's too powerful.

He says it's something to do with creating batch files

Why do I get the impression that you're under 13 years old?

Great, the concept of being able to play grand theft aut....

I think its unfair to say that it has no point when there are (albeit basic) scriptable game modes such as Manhunt. Speaking of which, I think that MTAMA should have the ability to update the game type on ASE when such game modes are running so that people can know before they join the server. -
hum now we know how u think aboiut urself Yeah, it's a very strange post to make. Congratulations Blaze, you've found a new low

Here's what Google has to say on the subject: It seems somewhat stupid that the definition for "inane" actually has the word "inane" in it when you don't actually know what it means (hence your reason for looking it up) -

Agreed. You shouldn't let people spoon-feed you and tell you how to have fun.
