  1. I doubt this would be possible. There is a thread here regarding porting MTA to Xbox: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=8298
  2. Yep, I completely agree. I always download the latest patches for games, but 9 times out of 10 I don't notice a difference and wonder why I bothered. Other quotes by b0b0: Interesting...
  3. Yeah, I don't play Counter-Strike because a) it's unforgiving b) lamers like you mentioned c) there are too many people to have a proper community like MTA does Also, if someone had said that I was related to a monkey, I would have spouted Darwin at them, stating that apparently we're all related to monkeys (well, apes anyway).
  4. Erm, I think that presumably this was deleted because it was deemed unappropriate.
  5. If you go back to http://www.mtavc.com you will see a blue box at the top of the home page. Click either Linux or Win32 server (depending on your operating system) to download the server file. I don't really know much about Linux, so I'll explain how to set one up for Windows. The download will be in .zip format. You can extract it to any directory (not necessarily the GTA / MTA ones). Once extracted, it's ready to work out of the box by double clicking it, but you may want to customise it (i.e. the name of it, player count, etc.). In order to do this, you can either open up the mtaserver.conf file in Notepad (it will be in the same directory as the server EXE file) or download a utility to do this for you: The MTA:VC 0.3 Server Config Tool (works with 0.3.1): http://www.mtavc.com/downloads.php?file_id=59

I don't think they've ever been officially included, so that was probably a cheater (and proof that, contrary to popular belief, the cheat protection has improved between versions).

I don't think that boats are supported in the current core (i.e. they won't be present in MTA 0.4).
  8. The initial release of 0.4 will include one map for GTA3, and then subsequent releases will support the other maps. Presumably this is a time-saving mechanism to avoid having to wait an extra 6 months or so for 0.4.
  9. This sounds really cool. It reminds me of that arcade game Virtua Cop. However, one thing that I noticed is that in order to offer a better storyline and more cool sequences like the aforementioned one, they seem to have scripted a lot more stuff this time. I don't know how this will impact upon the game.
  10. is in the mta.ini Whare can i find the "mta.ini" file? It's in your Windows folder (C:\Windows for most people).
  11. Yeah, my tactic is to just avoid them (they often stay in one area). I don't like pointing the finger because I could be wrong (it's not pleasant to be accused of cheating when you're innocent).
  12. I think it means that your executable file is corrupted. Try re-downloading MTA, and please tell me you're not using a cracked version.

How about IRC? MTA's always been about unlocking the potential of GTA's gameplay for multiplayer. The GTA series have never been particularly intelligent, so I'm not sure that a "talking zone" would go down as well in MTA as it would in say, Everquest.
  14. No, I kept an eye on it (I have way too much time on my hands ), and it did go up to 60 and I think it did stay at 70 for a short while if I remember rightly. It's a bit misleading though, because if they were at 80% then, they're definitely higher than 80% now - it's just difficult to judge whether it's 90% or only 85% (or whatever).
  15. According to the team page (possibly not up-to-date), the following people are in education: AJH Cray IJs Kent Sintax Slush TermNL
  16. "Someone", huh? My money's on the summer (July - August maybe?), when (theoretically) the devs would have more time to work on it.
  17. But surely seeing those extra icons would give you an advantage over other players (thus it is considered cheating)?
  18. *Ripple of sarcastic applause* It usually happens if you've got mods installed (it's unfair on other players who don't have the mods, and it can cause crashes and all kinds of problems).
  19. Yeah, better for them to think you're a retard than a cheater... Seriously Jon, wtf? Well, it's my assumption (I've never actually seen what happens because VC exits obviously) that when it crashes, it leaves me just frozen in one spot, as if I were pausing. And why would they think I'm a retard?
  20. Yeah, I'd love to use Linux or Mac OS, but there aren't really many games out for those OSes.
  21. Nope, the devs don't tell us anything because they don't want to hype up a feature and then have to take it out because it crashes or is incompatible with another feature, for example. Also, by telling us everything, there's no element of surprise
  22. As PlanetGTA said: That's why no one plays it. But never fear, as I can guarantee that the number of GTA3 servers will shoot up once MTA 0.4 is released.
  23. The way I see it, if you're not explicitly asked or encouraged to do something, the game can't be at fault if you decide to run over some pedestrians for fun in GTA or scalp a guy in SoF. I agree with what you say about killing people for no reason, which can justify (to an extent) killing enemies.
  24. Well, I've never hosted a dedicated server before, so upgrading my PC (the server) has always made a difference in terms of client speed.
  25. Yeah, I meant that as an example, not as a cue to start a debate as to what subsequent versions will be called.
