this very same debate has flamed up in every game forum when broadband first started being widely used. LPB vs HPB, Who is right? rather than segregation by connection speed, let us unite. I have played against both LPBs and HPBs, and i can honestly say, there is little difference. i can dispatch 56kers just as easily as the broadband fellas, or vica verca (they can kill me) could it be less to do with the connection, and more to do with player skill? is it possible that because people have 56k connections, they do not play online games as much, and consequentially, are less skilled? i'm not saying all 56kers are lamer n00bs, but can they honestly say that they have had as much multiplayer experience? (i know some can, but as a group?)

like i said man, you have the editing skills, you should use them to make an actual story. this one wasnt your best vid, but i do enjoy the themes. Get some voice actors, build up some stock footage, plan a storyboard, and you can make the very first machinamation for vice city! it would be something more than just another stunt vid (which i do enjoy, when they are not using cheats) if you want help with the story/dialouge, I am volenteering, as i am sure many people would.

it was in one of the official servers. ther was a command to start it up. i don't know if it's still running though. bump?

its not that we can't read it, but most of those ideas have been discussed to death. that doesnt make them any less great ideas though.

swords instead of wussy hammers would be nice. too bad sword fights arent possible (with the swords blocking eachother jedi academy style)

anyone who plays as often as us, or is in a clan has been "namejacked" one n00b even had the nerve to join a server that i was on. should there be a name registry?, I think that that may be a little extreme. you are going about it the right way though, if you are concerned about this problem, be logged into irc whenever you play, and if you aren't in irc, than people can assume it's not you. PLUG*another option, is to go the route that we have with the vck server. it is passworded, and only respectful, non cheaters are given the password. (if you want it, ask) by doing this, we make it more difficult for such people.*PLUG

i agree, i doubt rockstar has changed vc. rockstar would not change the game because of one little (insignificant) protest group. if they cared so much about those types, gta would not have been released, and none of the sequels would have been conceived. rockstar lets the gamers decide where the line is, and its a long way off.

maybe as a custom server script , someone could make it so if a person's ping is drastically different from the average ping, that person would be warned/announced as a hpb/kicked. i like the idea of the hpbs being announced as such, maybe that would cut out the cheater accusations. a lot of people are too lazy/ignorant to check the pings before accusing people. something like if player1 ping equels < average ping + 175 then kick/announce/warn player1

ooh, cool avater deathb, but i have 2 guns! anyways, in my experience, if you have a ping that is drastically different from everyone elses, it makes sense to join a different server,. not just for them, but for you as well. no one wants an unfair adtvantage/disadvantage cheating to try and attack a cheater is still cheating, and if i ever hear the words "i was only cheating to attack ___ because he wsa cheating!" i will vomit with rage

it was just a fun match, it has no effect on any scoring. maybe the 814 guys want to have a real match, then you can post a score

it comes down to lack of faith in other peoples judgement. these protest groups are convinced that they know better than all the people who have or will ever purchase violent video games. in this case, it's not the violence that they are concerned about, but the "racism". it is their beleif that having you kill haitian or cuban gangs is an encouragement to persecute these peoples. what they don't realise, is that vice city takes place in an era where there were gangs seperating themselves by their backgrounds and/or origins, so having these gangs in the game is merely for producing the atmosphere of that era. (which they do oh so well) do they propose that the gangs to be called "the multiculture pals"? or how about "the non-discriminatory-yet-still-really-tough-and-mean-in-other-ways gang"? lecture over

not to propel this "man of mystery" type of thing, which I'm sure he enjoys, but without people knowing who he is, we can't accept his word, and kinda defeates the purpose of his obviously good intentions.
