  6. We've actually been spening considerably more time on the new core than on 0.4, over the last 10 months or so, hence why 0.4 has taken so long. We had 2/3 people working propperly on 0.4, with 4/5 working on the new core. eAi

  8. We define the core as essentially everything that isn't game-mode related. Obviously the line between the non-game mode stuff and game-mode stuff isn't that easy to define sometimes, but thats what we mean by "core". eAi

  10. The new core is a tottally new system. We have spent a long time and put a huge ammount of work into developing this core. When you find out more information about it, you'll realise why it is taking us so long, in the mean-time, until you do, please don't judge us based on the progress bar, it may be innaccurate, but changing it doesn't speed up the project. eAi
  11. You'll have to open port 2003 so that people can connect, as well as 2003 + 123 (2126) so that ASE can query you. eAi

  14. b0b0: Its really pointless giving us suggestions like this. I know you mean well, its just we have a new core on its way, which nothing is known about (so you can't make suggestions for it), and we're not making any changes to the 0.4 core. eAi

  16. I'd like to emphasize the point others have made here. Everyone on the team is creating MTA in their spare time. Many of us dedictate hours a day to this mod, so anyone who comes along and tells us we haven't thought it out is stupid, as we spend a lot of our time thinking about MTA (obviously). As a team we have many expectations for what MTA will be able to do in the future. We'd love to be able to please everyone, even "chewEboy". We'd love team play too, we'd love CTF, we'd love boats, planes and customization and we'd love to have vehicles placed exactly where everyone wanted them, but we're restricted by many things. Mainly the fact that this mod is developed with almost no support from Rockstar. Concequently, we have _no_ access to source code. Mod half-life and you get a huge SDK, thousands of lines of code and a guide telling you what to do. We get nothing. Concequently producing MTA is as much a development process as it is a learning process, we've learnt a lot about how Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City works, as we go along. Concequently our current core can't support some of the things we - and the community really want it to, as the technology behind them was not avaliable when the core was designed. I hope that anyone who decides we don't know what we're doing thinks hard about how they'd do the same thing, and takes a more reasonable stance than "chewEboy" here. I don't mean to be sound pretentious, but we do know a lot more about how Grand Theft Auto 3/Vice City works than most people out there (excluding Rockstar of course). Anyway, thanks for the helpful suggestions, we never thought of them. eAi

  18. If you have an ATI Radeon, ensure you have the latest drivers. This is (as far as we know) the only cause of this problem. eAi

  20. I haven't a clue how to fly the dodo. My few attempts have failed misserably. eAi

I haven't really any idea what you're talking about Ransom (but maybe people who've played 0.4 know ), but to answer the last question, texture loading is partly to do with the player location and partly to do with the camera location. i.e. textures on the other island to the one you're on won't load, even if the camera is on that island, the player essentially has to be on the same island as the camera. Textures are loaded relative to the camera though, not the player. eAi
