Error message when testing my map in map editor for MTA:SA..
darkdreamingdan replied to Destroyer2000's question in Client
Access your resources directory, and delete editor_test resource. That should help -
Am I allowed yo use the MTA Stealth maps in SA:MP?
darkdreamingdan replied to Deltanic's question in Client
You should ask permission from the creators of the individual Stealth map -
There havent been any updates lately, that's all. You can track the latest version number by checking the actual changes page: http://code.google.com/p/multitheftauto ... ource/list As you can see, the last change was r490.

That's all well and nice to wish for, but if you look at the development process, the amount of time and effort that is required for a major point release is much harder. Your comment is basically ungrounded because its like saying "I wish MTA had a new feature every day". We either leave all these fixes for a major release at the risk of stability, performance and security, or we issue fixes as soon as possible while still mantaining compatibility.

That would be fine. Mediafire/RS are only suggestions. Also, for those of you unsure about compression, i reccomend using the h264 codec with an AVI container, at 5000kb/s - it produces guaranteed crisp quality (filesize is quite high however). Use an app such as mediacoder to compress.

Yeah, nice. My only critisism is the use of ticks instead of time - people with high FPS will find the text dissappearing quicker than others. Also, in future people may be interested in a custom locations text.

Y hallo thar We have recieved word from ModDB that they're interested in featuring MTASA in their monthly spotlight video. Here's your chance to help us advertise the mod. We're looking for raw (ideally with sound), unedited footage of high quality 720p. Show us your scripts, gamemodes, kills, races or whatever will be interesting! Just remember to try and involve Multiplayer - we dont want solo footage! Please also try and filter out any of the boring footage and save the guys over at ModDB (and us) some time. Upload your video in any popular format - xVid or h264 would be ideal. For this particular case we need the raw footage - so please avoid using video websites such as Youtube. Use a filesharing site such as MediaFire or Rapidshare to upload your footage, and we can mirror them (If you're stuck for filehosting solutions, contact us on IRC). The deadline is Friday 30th October - I understand that this is demanding, but time is of the essense! Thanks is advance.

See https://wiki.multitheftauto.com/wiki/CreateWater example, its probably what you want

For one, GTA doesnt actually load the entire GTA map so this wouldn't really work. If it did, there's no way you couldn't load the graphic dirver. Its a idealistic concept but really its not practical
-
Well, they lack weather effects, and water is present but invisible, which causes problems with water based maps. The main issue is that all interior worlds have the SA map collisions loaded.
-
Well, its often the case where you dont want random people adding your to an IM application. You can simply send them a private message to ask.
-
Its probably down to irrklang. In future we might switch the audio library.

[REL] dxscoreboard - A DirectX scoreboard resource
darkdreamingdan replied to Awwu's topic in Resources
You could consider stealing the editor's colour picker. It'd be very nice to be able to choose colours using it -

I'm running MTA fine on Windows 7 64-bit right here. As far as the steam version goes, you will have to obtain a GTA SA 1.00 No CD (google it). It should be a gta_sa.exe. Install this inside your steam installation directory for San Andreas, you shouldnt have to replace any files (steam actually has its own seperate .exe). You should now be able to install MTASA and use the Steam version of SA simultaneously.

[REL] dxscoreboard - A DirectX scoreboard resource

This looks very tidy. Certainly more tidy than the current scoreboard. Candidate for a future replacement? -
I've decided im going to not moderate this post at all. He raises some very valid points and we should all take his opinions seriously.

It works fine with my PS2 pad. If you have a dual PS2 input converter, try the other PS2 port. Also ensure that the "Analog" mode is enabled on your joypad. You should be able to click RZ- in that screenshot and push the right analog stick up for it to register. Also, it may be a GUI bug whereby some buttons are not clickable. You'll know if a button is clickable because the colour of the outline changes when highlighted - if it doesnt it could mean there's a GUI bug. If this is the case, try moving the mouse around the button till you see it light up (normally near the bottom of the button).

I do, but currently i think its located on a drive 130 miles away. You'll have to be patient for the time being.

I have it. Somewhere.

i made a minimap resource meant for custom maps or custom model maps, used by Johnline and JostVice. It doesnt replicate the GTA radar exactly but it does the job. I cant actually remember where the latest version is, or why i never put it on the community website. Either way, it's somewhere on the interwebs.

Start the "playercolors" resource

[Outdated] Unofficial MTA Script Editor 0.3 (4851) RELEASED!
darkdreamingdan replied to 50p's topic in Scripting
Stop pestering 50p to open source it. I feel that should be entirely up to him, not pressured from us. If MTA had never gone open-source, i get the impression requesting for an open-source Script Editor would never have happened.
