I think they said ages ago that Blue could theoretically work on 9x but they hadn't tested it (if I recall correctly).
But anyway, the question's been answered so this topic will be locked.
Many people prefer to run Linux servers for stability reasons. The MTA server does not require GTA to be installed in order to run, which is good because as Bump rightly stated, the games are Win32.
Yep, they're not synchronised, along with other things like drive-by shootings and the rocket launcher and sniper rifle.
They will be synchronised in MTA Blue, which is basically The Next Big Thing. More details available here: http://www.mtablue.info
i wouldnt say obviously yes, because this project was announced a year ago, and it seems that there have been no/few updates released to it.
Correction: It was started over a year ago. I can't remember when they announced it, but it was about 5 months ago.
u obviously werent around for the .3r2 to .4 switch....that took forever and detracted players
It took forever because of they were developing pretty much from scratch for GTA3.
this has been suggested many times, so it would not surprise me if someone made a mod for Blue that has this functionality. In the meantime, you could disable the in-game radio and run Winamp or something in the background.
One question: what happens when someone gets banned from a server in CSS? Do they send an angry email to Valve, as if it's Valve's fault? No, they just play on a different server. Granted, CSS has significantly more servers than MTA, but MTA has several fast, well-admined servers.
I voted for eAi because he's always so tolerant about me PMing him about this, that and t'other the whole time when he clearly has better things to do.
I like all of the team members though.
eAi said he may research it after Blue to see how feasible it is. I'm sure someone will try to sync peds with Blue, but I'm not sure how successful they'd be.
Tell me what?
MTA is a beta and hence sometimes strange things happen that look like cheating but aren't. It's common for new users to think certain bugs are cheating. There are real cheaters of course, but it takes a bit of experience to tell the difference (unless they are obviously cheating).
That's set to change in the upcoming MTA Blue though: http://www.mtablue.info
