[XII]RazoR Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 nice work and all, just wanna know how high the pings were than pretty laggy at some times eh
Oli Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 yeah we did have at least 1 56k player playing in some of that.. and the server was based in the USA.. im not sure what the actual pings were though
Guardians Proper Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I've never even noticed any differences with ping. 30 ping, 300 ping... All the same in MTA.
The Azer Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I've never even noticed any differences with ping.30 ping, 300 ping... All the same in MTA. that means ur own ping was standard 300?
Gamefreek Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 No he means that no matter what your ping was the lag was horrible.
JacoB Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 No he means that no matter what your ping was the lag was horrible. It's more of a problem of velocity overcoming position then it is lag. Even if you syncronize velocity to perfection, factors such as frame rate come in. They have a lower frame rate and thus their position is not altered as much by their velocity as it is on your computer. Then their position updates, and they 'skip'.
Si|ent Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 It should be noted there was very little optimisation used during the vehicle sync testing, that was yet to be coded in at the time. It was 'raw' sync if you like. We just felt the breakthrough was exciting enough to share with the community.
eAi Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Theres much more to releasing some software than the in-game experience that we can show in a video. Things such as the server browser, admin functionality, bug fixing, finishing of actual coding all need to be done before we have somthing thats worthy of release to the public.
s0beit Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 so you would rather have no updates? seriously sometimes i think you just bitch to bitch utopia.
Guardians Proper Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 so you would rather have no updates?seriously sometimes i think you just bitch to bitch utopia. Did I say anything about updates? No, I said you can't play pictures.
eAi Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 You can't play MTA:SA either because its not finished, so wait like everyone else.
Greg Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I have San Andreas for PC and it sucks yo I hate it i only waste 50 $ so shit game and now I just play call of duty and vice city online
Jigga Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 stop being gay, comment the news or die, btw movie pwn, i love ya and R* ofcoz
Guest Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 How is it going right now? And when do you think you'll be finished?
Deathspike Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 So .. just to get it straight .. once upon a time (not the first release offcourse) you can actually hit something by aiming directly at them .. see peds, cops (?) and cars ride by to steal .. Well .. this shit is amazing, just to start with that. Cant wait (like everybody else) for teh beta release . All of this is very promising .. Only one (n00b) question, which codec did that movie use (all i see is green and yellow oO) .. divx aint working, hope y'all can help me with that Good Job Keep up the good work, like always
Deathspike Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 clicky clicky Thanks alot there , sorry for this offtopic
Guardians Proper Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I love the cutsey names people can come up with for their hyperlinks.
Toreno Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 after all the critisizing by me, this video really impressed me, you guys showed fast progress, and smooth vehicle sync( i even saw some shooting with aircraft ) Razz i also noticed the checkpoints, seems like the race gamemode is coming along nicely, good job like with the mta blue announcement, again i was a bit too enthousiastic. i've watched the video again, and i noticed lag(vehicles). ah well, it's still early so, we'll wait and see if mta blue really is capable of showing singleplayer-like animations but it still is a fast update , so keep it coming
orappa Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 They're not going to eradicate lag completely but anyway, this was early synchronisation so hopefully the final release will be smoother.
Toreno Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 offcourse lag won't be removed completely, that's impossible(even if everybody had a 100mbit or 1gigabit connection with a ping <10 ms there would be lag).
njr1489 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Yeah, I just noticed the lag on the video when I saw it the third time because I was actually focusing on it. At least its a lot better than the current version.
