Since San Andreas′s release in North America a week ago, we′ve worked hard to build Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas on the Blue platform. Two nights ago saw a breakthrough for multiplayer GTA gaming: the first synchronisation in San Andreas. After an initial problem that took some fixing, progress has been swift.

With object creation in the early stages, in this case a 3D marker:

Followed by player creation and manipulation:

With vehicle creation and basic synchronisation following shortly afterwards:

As always this and more information can be found at http://www.mtasa.com Where another exclusive screenshot can also be found.

And ped manipulation coming together
if i get this rigth. peds is gonna be a feature??

In MTA, the other players you see are technically peds, so when they talk about ped manipulation, they are talking about the fundamental things that need to work to see other players move, shoot etc.

This is more about how the players ingame will be synced, it is not to hint to anything regarding AI peds.

3d markers are those pretty 3d things that tell you where to stand or stop your car, or how to get into a building. The image shown is a 3d marker using the same model as the checkpoint.

Radar markers are still used, though of course how they're used is entirely up to the mod developer. In a race mod, like the one we're developing at the moment, all the vehicles will have a marker I expect. That'll probably be optional, blind races can be fun ;)

This is why blue is so good... after the inital issues we had, we were in-game playing within 12 hours (albeit without full sync). With the old (0.2-5) core that'd have taken weeks or months to do.

so would we be expecting a early release..

It depends how you define early, but I know for a fact that they will not give a definite release date.

well i cannot wait till the first release of blue, but here is a question...

if the san andreas version gets done before the vice version, will SA just be put on hold until VC is finished?..

..i fink they sould have two stats bars on the front page one for VC other for SA ..1st get 0.5.5 out of the way cos thats still on 87

The San Andreas version takes considerable priority over the Vice City version, though they can, in the future be developed on side by side.

Is it possible that there will be a combined client like 0.4/0.5 in the future?

blue is fully integrated into Vice City, this means that there is no longer an external program required to launch MultiTheftAuto.

I guess that would also be the same for San Andreas.
