  1. happens to most of us... an annoying error, and I believe that there is no fix. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have all that much to do with MTA, and more to do with GTA:VC single player, since it happens to me sans-MTA
  2. Um... you do realise that the majority of pings in that screeny are >200?
  3. Then ram it into place with the fire truck or something
  4. But... text files don't look pretty...
  5. This isn't just a problem with people using 56k connections.. it happens on LANs, and Cable/(A)DSL too. Remember that you have to aim quite a bit ahead and sometimes the bullets go to the left of where you are aiming. no, no, and no. This is a constraint of the GTA:VC engine... only a certain number of cars are allowed to be in the game at a time. The limit is currently 80. I'm not really sure... I'm guessing they didn't want to accidentally include new bugs, even though it would be a sweet feature. That or they were too lazy Probably lag. Remember that you have to aim ahead. Because the team is evil (you almost HAVE to have a chopper to get most of the guns). They probably didn't put them in because they didn't want to "waste" those spots with bad cars. (Remember the limit of 80 cars). The boats were not put in due to difficulty implementing it... Currently, putting a boat into the water will cause that boat to explode (same goes for skimmer and sea sparrow).

    Are they Cheating?

Also note that sometimes the weapons aim a little bit to the right, so if he's standing still shooting at you for 5 minutes, and you're shooting at him, hitting him every time, he probably just sees the bullets going off to the side. (This messed up aiming doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it does sometimes).
  7. Just a minor note: The Vice City EULA may (and probably does) prohibit NO-CD cracks... Just a reminder Oh, and in some parts of the EU the EULA means nothing... no contractual agreement or anything.
  8. I actually rush all my posts in here, because I'm daunted by the sheer volume of them... I don't take the time to give good responses.

    Animations?

no, the animations aren't in 0.2... I believe they're trying to get them into 0.3 (or rather, MTA 0.1)
  10. You'll notice that in your MTA directory are 2 .EXEs... one is the client (MTAClient.exe), which CONNECTS to a server that someone else is hosting. The other is the server (MTAServer.exe) which HOSTS a server that other people connect to.
  11. yes, very nice... I hate having to ask for a server's IP every time... it'd have to store the pass too.

    potd or potw

Agreed. Let's get that POTD/POTW thing on the site

    Tagging.

Well, in Half-Life, you can hit the T key and it'll put a little picture (of your choosing) on the wall/floor/ceiling that you're facing. It was originally supposed to be used as a cool little feature (put your name on the ground when you kill someone, etc...), but just led to porn being placed all over the map.
  14. That reminds me, I saw "MTA beta leek! 0-3-0.exe" on suprnova.org
  15. xenex: now that is just a trippy background.
  16. Well, this board isn't the netherlands
  17. enough! with the quotes, and the space, and the flagrant waaaaasting! of space.
  18. Liked this, then go to DeathClock.com My results: "I'm afraid we have some bad news. Please, you might want to stay seated." Mark your calendar or Palm V. You can expect to die on: March 3, 2062 at the age of 72 years old. On that date you will most likely die from: Cancer (39%) Heart Attack (19%) Confusion (6%) Drowning (6%) Horrible Accident (5%)
  19. It's about the hopes and dreams of losers everywhere (especially mod development teams and forum moderators)... to get laid
  20. Ya, but then I'd be able to call myself a moderator! (Of course, I am one, just some one seems to have forgotten to fix up my title).
  21. This is a bug... when you join the server, the server doesn't send you what class the other players are. When they respawn they'll have the correct skins. (You'll notice that when their skin isn't correct, they'll be a yellow dot on the radar instead of the new colors). I'm pretty sure the engine noise is a work-around... I'm guessing you've seen the pics that b0b0 linked to... I'm not sure how it works, but my guess is that when you press 'enter', your guy gets into the car (though you can't see it)... MTA keeps track of this, and when you enter the car, it spawns you. That's my guess.
  22. You do realise that I usually get a ping < 100ms, and that I'm using ADSL? Even playing over a LAN you'll warp around.
  23. Well, you have to remember that running MTA:VC takes a lot more bandwith than DoD or UT2003... Quite a lot more. I'm guessing that the reason for the high ping is your connection, but I might be wrong.
