  1. "Named liberty city"?. Its not being named again. Its the same liberty city we knew in gta3. GTAIV almost definitevely is in the same universe as the gta3 series.
  2. and who said all of this isnt possible with scripting anyway? also, foreign characters arent supported by mta's gui anyway.
  3. Tagging with tags already in GTASA (i.e. objects) may be a possibility via scripting. Custom tags are a whole different story.
  4. To add onto what ransom is saying, the driveby will work fine as it is not disabled (there is a separate function if u were to disable the "vehicle_fire" altogether). The only flaw is that if you were to press "vehicle_fire" at any moment, including during drivebys, itd activate the bomb - and in my opinion this is a minor flaw, as there's exactly the same problem in single player with clashes of bombs/drivebys/nitro. Presumably the driver who fitted the bomb would be aware of it anyway It probably can. But i dont see it being a major problem. Its not something that's worth dedicating time over imo.
  5. i just decided i would bump this topic. im sure u know why
  6. Moved to offtopic section. The reason is, MS want to destroy compatibility so everyone has to change software for vista
  7. Well it isn't really. As the guy said if he posts the 'idea' afresh he gets shouted down for not searching, for posting something already discussed. So instead he had re-awakened a suggestion that can now be considered in a different light, with the new core. I agree. I dont see any problem with bumping a topic as long as it was intentional and for a good reason. As for your questions? Wait and see - it should be clear sooner or later.
  8. The issue is, we all have our hands tied. The testers have lots of jobs to do too - but we still try to update via the POTD, and weekly scripting tutorials
  9. A: Not yet. we need more. more. MORE Q: Hammage or Spammage?
  10. where does "source"-variable come from? I'm not a Lua programmer yet, so I don't know about declarations, but what tells this function whats in "source"? Or is "source" and "player" something like a pre-declared variable? Please explain... Lennard Fonteijn Good question. "source" always refers to the 'source' of the event. 99% of the time the 'source' is refered to in the event itself - onPlayerJoin - the "source" by default is the variable which refers to the player. onPlayerClick is the same - the source will be the player. However, in the onMarkerHit event, the source will refer to the marker as that is what the event refers to. So yes, "source" is always a predeclared variable. "player" however is not. I hope that makes sense.
  11. Yes, "up" will have the affect of triggering it when the button is released. We'll be sorting out the issue of conflicting controls in time for release, so you wont have to worry about that
  12. damn straight happy bday eai!
  13. where did you see that? you can use thousands, that ain't 1000, that's a lot more afaik he was just using that figure as an example
  14. erm i cant believe you even asked that question, lol. It's inside the manual i believe.
  15. Yeah, swimming is lame in msot gamemodes. Vice city and gta3 used the excuse that Sharks were killing off Tommy or Claude. Now we can live up to that excuse.
  16. I'm very sure its possible. Whether it will be done is another thing. You probably wont use the mouse to click on the water, itd be easier just to have a water level setting in the .map.
  17. Try deleting gta_sa.set in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas User files in My Documents.
  18. I think this is an issue to do with the Control button getting stuck. It's just a guess but i've seen similar problems with it.
  19. About that wiki, is it online yet? I was trying to find out how MTA implemented Lua to learn it better. I searched your existing wiki, but did not find anything about Lua. Our documentation is currently incomplete and is therefore private. It will be opened once it is ready - but rest assured it should make scripting much easier for beginners.
  20. Movement speeds are something that'll definately be addressed in the newer editor. As for Laggy's idea, i think its possible to be implemented, though im not sure whether it'll be smooth movement - i.e it might "warp" the camera
  21. I dont think this would be hard to sync, or it using too much bandwidth its just a matter of wasting time doing it - when there are other priorities now
