That's an interesting idea. I think it has many advantages because the community can prepare lots of maps before release. I certainly think this would be a good idea.
-
Well my main point is that the team work on different sections. It makes things more efficient and these 'extras' dont actually slow down development time.
-
'Extras' are only being implemented after the arrival of MrJax to put it frankly. The rest of the team work where they are best - bug fixing and main features. most of the 'extra' features you have seen at the blog is because MrJax is best at implementing these, and it doesnt slow down the release, rather it adds to it while other team members get on with other jobs.

the PSP and PS2 versions are almost identical. The only real difference is that PS2's draw distance is a little higher and that the fps is higher. I've played both versions and i dont think you'll miss out on anything by getting either versions.

Lately we've been having more work on MTA DM. Although there have been lots of holidays for team members, there is still a lot of activity. eAi and ChrML are currently working on bug fixing and general sync issues, MrJax is implementing new misc features as I'm sure you've seen already, IJs is working on some new GUI features which we'll be sure to show off at a later stage, while Oli has been working on the server side of things, as well as fixing up the full size radar map. The most recent major addition to MTA DM is the new vehicle respawning system. This is vastly changed from the system featured in the old core (MTA 0.x) and is now more efficient. Vehicles now respawn after periods of inactivity. This means you cannot steal every car in the map and stash them away somewhere hidden like you could in 0.x, and also means it'll generally be easier to find vehicles. Vehicles also do not have to respawn immediately after their destruction, but customisably have a delay to prevent destruction of vehicles simply to 'fix' them. Delays after inactivity and destruction can be set, if any at all, by the map maker. Vehicles also no longer magically respawn to their original position after the player who last occupied them disconnects. They now use the inactivity delay system which makes syncing more efficient. We've also had some further progress on the all new team support. MrJax and eAi have implemented something that has been requested hundreds of times in the past for previous MTA releases. No, its not bad sync or someone turning on their health hacks. The screenshot shows friendly fire support which is the most reliable method of preventing teamkills. This adds huge gameplay value to team games and complements the teamsay function well. That's all for now. - Talidan

Should free-aiming for drivers be allowed in MTA:SA?
darkdreamingdan replied to a topic in General discussion
I just tested Helicopter drive bys. They appear not to be working, its something hardcoded in GTA. I am unsure whether the team will look at enabling it, but it seems unlikely so far, as much as id like to see passenger drivebys for helis -
Yeah, MTA already has a theme tune http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_MTA_Song

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and unconfirmed

MTA: DM has improved significantly and will be much more playable with bad connections. (Yeah, zircon would know). Things are generally much smoother. Another thing is that usually an Austrailian on a broadband connection on a UK server will probably get the same pings as a 56ker from UK in the same server. In this sense, the MTA team have almost certainly kept high pingers in mind. I do reccomend that you upgrade to broadband, but DM will be a lot more playable

ALT-TAB function next patch/update/version
darkdreamingdan replied to derhitman's topic in General discussion
yes why does the game have to pause when you alt tab it? I play BF2 and it dosnt pause with the alt tab function even though it isnt supposed to support it BF2 was designed like that. GTA was not. Rockstar made it so that if you minimise it pauses the game. Since the mta team dont have access to the source this is stuck within gta. The efficiency and stability of the Blue core relies on MTA being run in-process with GTA. Making an external app almost makes development go backwards and less stable, because it will be similar to mta 0.x where you ran an external app -
Patching your 1.01 or 2.00 version of gta_sa.exe
darkdreamingdan replied to darkdreamingdan's question in Client
Genna: the issue most likely has nothing to do with the patcher. It sounds to me like you just have to wait for a Phone call to continue the game. lestat338497: Can zou confirm that your game is authentic? It sounds like a dodgy version, i suggest you try obtaining a 1.00 .exe from elsewhere. I cant help you precisely right now because i am abroad, once i return iäll give you guys more attention -
We've recently got some new awsome info one GTAVCS lately. i cant wait. http://www.gtavice.com/news/index.php Top 2 news posts show evidence for ken rosenburg to be around and tonnes of feature confirmations on vcs. To me it looks like its going to be what SA shouldve been. It blends stuff like swimming and all that stuff into the true gta nature of Mafia like crime, rather than SA's crappy 'hood' type gangsters.

Patching your 1.01 or 2.00 version of gta_sa.exe
darkdreamingdan replied to darkdreamingdan's question in Client
Is this error when opening the patcher or when trying to patch it? If its when trying to open it its because your download was incomplete, try again. If it still doesnt work i reccomend you 'upgrade' to Mozilla Firefox over Internet Explorer (assuming your on IE, its only IE that gets this problem) lestat338497: Can you try to find out if the russian version is censored or changed in any way? That might be the problem -
That doesnt happen in MTASA because animations are synced properly

ALT-TAB function next patch/update/version
darkdreamingdan replied to derhitman's topic in General discussion
trainers are hardly the problem. Its the fact that when minimizing the game is automatically paused. When the game is paused, it stops recieving packets, so essentially it freezes the game at the point you paused. When you unpause, you have to catch up with the server because you have been paused all this time. THis means you get spammed packets all at once of what has happened in between pausing and unpausing, which causes desync and gamelag amongst other horrible effects. -
That isnt an easy job and would take too long

Future map editor, or map creation method?
darkdreamingdan replied to Strepto's topic in Suggestions
No, the map editor is not capable of creating gamemodes. As for question 2), the team have brought up the idea of multiplayer map editing even during Race. Its a feature that might be implemented in future, but due to the work needed on r2 its unlikely to be in the next DM release. -
ah, i assumed this was possible because you can use driveby in many planes too. I'll just try anyway and see the results..i guess
-
As far as i know Helicopter passengers are handled similar to vehicles. This means that helicopter drivebys are already possible as a passenger (i think...i'll check this one out at some point)
-
Yeah, thats the impression i got too - which is why i didnt understand
-
Then he hit a low bridge and they both got owned -The End hahahahahaha

A few QUESTIONS about MTA DEATHMATCH.
darkdreamingdan replied to El_Conde_Mafias's topic in General discussion
1) i dont get what you mean. do you mean racing while people dm in the backround? or using spawnpoints/objects from a race map? 2) Wait and see 3) this is unlikely as GTASA has set paths for trains which are difficult to replicate 4) yes - by how much is unconfirmed -
We've been having some great progress on MTASA. The recent addition of MrJax to the team has allowed the team to cram more features in to the r2 release than expected. And of course, something we can show off: The pictures show full trailer support - this extends from fuel tanks over to simple containers. Both tow-trucks and and standard heavy trucks can carry other trailers. MrJax has also been working on all new team support. One example is a feature that is found in almost every team multiplayer game As you can see, you can now use a 'teamsay' function to chat with members of the same team, which elminates past needs to setup MTAMA scripts to do the job. By default this is bound to the 'y' button, but as mentioned before, this can be changed with the new Keybinds system. There are some more new cool features coming along - stay tuned! - Talidan

I fail to understand what you mean

If you arent willing to do that you can get an online server browser for MTAVC here: http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php? ... p&game=mta You can copy the server info over and connect.
