  1. And we shouldn't even be talking about leaked versions.
  2. What fake pic? He posted a link to a site hosting a leaked version of SA (and before you ask, no, I didn't stop to write down the address).

    HAX

So what do they consider cheating then?
  4. I think you just answered your own question. It becomes a case of "who downloaded the best mod" rather than "who's the most skilled player."
  5. Actually, now would be the worst time to upgrade, what with BTX and PCI-Express due for release later in the year, not to mention next-gen cards offering (apparently) 100% performance increases (which was why I specifically refrained from using the word "now"). And I would generally agree with your argument, but everyone on this site will want to play the new GTA, and a large number of people will want to play Doom 3 and Half-Life (if only to see if the hype is justified). For a lot of people, this will mean an upgrade. I did not say "get the fastest machine possible". With new technology looming, what is considered to be fast today will receive massive price cuts so that suppliers can shift stock ready for the new hardware (the Radeon 9800 XT has had a 50% cut by some retailers), so it will not be as expensive as you make out.
  6. GTA3:MTA runs on dated technology. The core for VC is much faster, more stable and easier to use (the way you join a server in GTA 3 is just mindblowing). As a result of this, more people use VC than GTA3. However, MTA is due for an upgrade to 0.4 which will combine GTA 3 and VC into a single client. Various polls around the site have shown that interest for GTA 3 will pick up when the new version is released.
  7. It wouldn't be good business sense for Rockstar not to release it on PC. To be honest, with the likes of Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 (supposedly) coming out this year, along with new technologies, it would be a good time to upgrade.
  8. Hmmm... I know GTA's all about realism, but it seems too realistic.
  9. I never really supported this idea much at first, but having seen the screenshots for San Andreas, I'm starting to see why everyone wants it.
  10. Yeah, somewhere on these forums there's a topic about the hidden multiplayer menu that Rockstar put in - presumably time and/or budgetary constraints prevented them from finishing the multiplayer aspect.
  11. So it's set in a similar time-frame to GTA 3 then?
  12. Yeah, but with a job you can claim unfair dismissal, resulting in a legal settlement.
  13. So........... vice city also has firehydrants if you didnt notice. And i didnt know vice city or gta3 had bikes........... He probably meant motorbike, which would be extremely similar shadow-wise.
  14. Yep, I expect that's it. With the announcement of San Andreas, many people will be put off buying the other two and opt to wait instead, so their prices will fall. On eBay, you can pick up VC for 1/3rd of its retail price, so there's not really any excuse for not buying it.
  15. That's a good point actually - are the people in the car bots or actual players?
  16. Basically the Japanese government are having trouble with the younger generation, and so in an attempt to teach them a lesson they come up with the Battle Royale Programme. Every 7(?) years a class is selected at random to go to a remote island where they have to fight each other using random weapons (some people have pots and pans, others have machine guns). They each have these tracking necklaces on which explode after 3 days unless there is one person left - you have to fight to save yourself, otherwise everyone will die. Note: The film is in Japanese with English subtitles, but I didn't find that it detracted from the overall experience.
  17. Thanks. I actually expected you to flame me for suggesting it, but it's good to have someone who sees sense.
  18. Er... I don't think we should really be talking about stuff like that, and can a mod please delete or edit xanni's last post please.
  19. Er.. that's the third time they've been posted...
  20. LMAO also im not often kicked from server unless its the official-swering/caps vces-randomly flaming but other than that i dont ever get kicked so i wanna thank everyone, even when i took out 4 cops teamed on me at the stadium, i wasn't kicked so thanks for admin's faith. I don't think caps should result in immediate kicking. Maybe a warning for the first time and a kick for the second perhaps? It just seems a little unforgiving.
  21. CRC errors usually originate from cracked / modded versions of the game. You will need a fresh version in order to run the game.
  22. It's actually a literal monopoly (>25% market share) because many companies are put off competing in the industry by the huge sunk costs - i.e. the cost of cabling which can't be recouped should the company go bust. I could imagine that there are security implications in that it probably can't be directed into an individual socket - i.e. everyone in the house would receive the same data. If that's the case, then (presuming it works by varying the voltage to simulate binary data) lights in the house would probably start flashing when you're transferring data.
  23. Yep, that's correct. But please don't bump 3 month-old topics.
  24. Is it set in the '70s like everyone predicted? I can't tell.
  25. I dont know about you but I dont like to give my email anywhere ( thats why my email aint on this board) where whoever wants can get it and be able to : a) add me to msn b) spam my email box c) get email from all the cheaters you banned whining about : I didnt cheat!! . I know most people think like me, they dont like to give their emails out to people they dont know, it seems that you dont mind ,but this willnot be added im pretty sure of that. Loads of games have admin email fields, and they don't seem to have problems - Unreal Tournament series, Wolf: ET, Half-Life, etc. However, I disagree with Dgtadude that it should be compulsory, as some people don't like to give out such details. SM xenex, perhaps instead of an email field there could be a general "ContactInfo" field where some people could put their email addresses and others could put IRC addresses, etc.
