  1. A lot of people rely on megahertz alone when buying a processor. That's why AMD changed their naming conventions to provide a value for the equivalent P4 speed through AMD architecture. So therefore a Celeron or Duron will always underperform against a Pentium or Athlon of the same speed. This is due to higher-end chips having optimisations and larger cache sizes.
  2. I don't think that MTA modifies any of GTA's files, as SP still works ok. However, it would be a good idea to uninstall MTA 0.3 before installing 0.4.
  3. Do you have a firewall or router? If so, open port 4003.
  4. I used to be pretty tolerant, but I'm starting to get annoyed with seeing the same questions over and over again, so I can see Bump's situation.
  5. It does show on the health bar. It's simply that most times, unless they are very new or particularly unobservant, they have actually jumped out of the way. But due to latency it may appear on your end that you hit them for a split second before thier position is updated, especially if they or you have a ping of 250 or more Ah, I see. That probably also explains why it takes a long time to kill them by this method (longer than in SP).
  6. And with the PS3 in development, by the time anything substantial has been done, most likely the PS2 will be no longer in production (and all that work was therefore a waste of time). That's what's great about PC gaming - backwards compatibility.
  7. Also, running someone over doesn't seem to update the health bar. It looks as if you're not damaging them when you in fact are. If you run over them a few times they will die (unless they actually are cheating, of course).
  8. Yep, the machine that's hosting it. Basically, the traffic gets to the router and needs to be told which machine to go to, which in this case would be the one hosting the game.
  9. Did you enable the admin server in the config file (mtaserver.conf)?
  10. which port is good? The port is correct, but you're only meant to forward the data to 1 IP (and you don't need TCP either).

    MTArc Thread.

Windows doesn't come with comdlg32.ocx by default - it is only installed by programming languages and certain programs which rely on it. One which does come with Windows however is comdlg32.dll, the API version.
  12. Barra Barra - Hans Zimmer Well, now it's changed to So Cold - Breaking Benjamin.

Yep, my idea was that people used to games like Battlefield could use the same keys by importing presets.

Yep, it would be good if there were presets already made for common speech (e.g. "cover me", "get in", etc.) so that you can just run it without having to spend ages setting it up for simple stuff. And it would be good if you could import and export the preset files so that you can back them up without having to set them up again if you reformat.

    Multi-Mafia

I remember looking for Mafia multiplayer on the net several months back (inspired by MTA), and I found out that an official multiplayer patch was planned, but from the description it sounded... how can I put this? ... "True Crime-esque" - i.e. rushed and with little thought. So who knows, maybe they're still working on it.

Recognised has a "g" in it... anyway, yes, I can verify that this is indeed a word. I checked on dictionary.com (and spelt it with a "g") and there was no result, but that does not mean that it is not a word.
  17. Lol, read his post. He said he had Windows XP. Oops. That's my usual reply when people ask that question (which is often )

    Multi-Mafia

I didn't think that many people on these forums were because the topic concerning Mafia (I think it was originally about Driver 3) didn't really go anywhere.
  19. Are you running it on Windows XP or 2000?
  20. Well, if those are the final screens, can they not at least provide a link to all of them like they did with GTA 3?
  21. I remember I spent ages trying to find a free host. Basically, I wanted one with a fair amount of space, no ads and stuff like PHP, etc. But all of the ones that had no ads had other restrictions like hardly any space, etc. So in the end, I found that the best way to get everything I wanted was to use paid hosting (the phrase "You get what you pay for" springs to mind). It's not a lot of money - you can get hosts for $20 a year - and you don't end up with a crappy URL either.
  22. Nah, that's just to scare you. After the 21 day trial, every 7 days it pops up with that message and you just cancel it and continue using the software. You don't honestly thing ASE would be as popular as it is if you had to pay for it do you? And regarding the "Your game version cannot be determined" message, I assumed that everyone gets that the first time they run MTA after installing (I do). As soon as you set it once, it retains your settings.
  23. He's being sarcastic (and it was a rhetorical question anyway)
