  1. Friday isn't good for me, perhaps if someone else can organise it for that day? We just tested some maps that were submitted for SARL, a couple made it the rest need a few fixes. More information here: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=218931#218931 You should see some of them this weekend - we hope to have meet 2 either on Saturday or Sunday. If you let us know what day and rough time suits you all then we can try and accomodate as many of you as possible.
  2. Thanks for the submissions guys, we just tested a bunch. LS2SF: Very good, we will be using that one IF the spawn is fixed as described below. North Pass: Bad initial spawns. (see below) Has a very badly placed first checkpoint, hard to find the route to it immidiately. It also features far too many user-created roadblocks along the route that aren't necessary, nobody would consider going up those roads so there's really no need to block them. Later on there are a few occasions of badly placed checkpoints too, for example when it turns off the north road onto the sand track theres such a large gap between the CP's its easy to misinterpret them and drive off the cliff! The route itself is good so if the issues above are addressed we'd have no problems using it. LSSpeedway: Also suffers from bad spawns and too many roadblocks. Streets Of San Fierro 1: Needs the start fixing (see below), spawnpoints are very oddly distributed, otherwise a good route. Streets of san fierro 2: Even better route, will definetaly be used if spawn is fixed! Dust Slide: Fun but totally unsuitable start for more than four vehicles, (road width and bridge) may use it in duo competition. Luggage Carousel (sent to me by RED): Perfect, will definately use it. Spawn guidelines SARL race starts should not confer any kind of advantage on one driver over another, and should NOT create congestion and impacts immidiately. This means avoiding the use of three or four deep lines of vehicles and trying to either use a single line as shown here: Or using seperate lines spaced equidistantly from the first checkpoint (equidistant in driving time not physical distance) as seen here: I know many of the standard maps that come with mtasa do not follow these guidelines, thats down to poor map design by the people involved. Don't fall into the same traps. The area you choose to start your race is as vital as the route itself!
  3. What has 15 minutes got to do with it?
  4. Or select it then press F6 to zoom to it.

    The Chase

Do you have a direct download link for it? I'd like to see it but that in-built player is too dark.
  6. Your screenshot isn't there, thats just a link to the image upload page.
  7. Not sure why this is in suggestions. Drowning at spoawn is the individual map designers fault they placed the spawn locations badly. If the server is yours try editing the map and raising them all slightly. If it isnt then find the author and bug him
  8. Sounds like mta isnt 'at the front' on the processes/applications runnign on your system. If I attempt to alt tab out of mta i get that (because it tries to place somethign else over the top even though mta prevents it from minimising out of gta) yet alt tabbign doesnt fix it? Odd. As for win98 compatibility mode it isn't a case of mta checking what OS you have, its a case of memory use being different for those older windows versions (to put it simply), and MTA being incompatible with it. Thats why it requires win2k or XP (GTASA states it requires one of those too)
  9. Yes, don't be disheartened, three of sparkies wins were by default (all other competitors died) rather than him leading them till the end. At least one other I had him until someone decided to drive the wrong way along the racing line and take me out! So although he is clearly and deservedly in the lead he isn't dominating in quite the way it appears
  10. No screenshot capture app or chat program? Try pressing it out of MTA and see what it is set to do.
  11. I use a tiny app called Powerstrip to do that, my monitor is terribly dark so most games require brightening. It works with everything I've played so far (in the last three years) and most features can be accessed via keyboard shortcuts - brighten gamma is CTRL+ALT+ 'numpad +' for example) and therefore do not require specific setting up for each game. You can set up specific game profiles if you wish though, for brightness, colour balance, overclocking, refresh rate and more. It also has a lot of power features, overclocking for specific games etc. But I don't use those
  12. To be strictly accurate all straight race maps must have no repairs, your maps have vehicle changes and would therefore be considered chaos maps, in which anything goes. Bear in mind these maps aren't as essential (nor popular) so only a few would feature in each SARL meet for varieties sake. (last night only featured one of this type)
  13. Good to hear work has begun on this. So we need to edit all the old maps if we DON'T want respawn? (all those dm and last man standing maps) Seems a little illogical, perhaps default it to no respawn instead.Could you make the respawn position map defined please? limiting it to the last chackpoint only will eliminate many possibilities (not to mention there are no checkpoints in most freeroam, DM and chase maps) Perhaps as an object that can be placed, respawning then defaults to it (or to the nearest if more than one is desired) I'm sure this won't involve a great deal more work at this stage and it'll open it up considerably. EDIT: Please include a global vote-delay timer too.
  14. 17 races were played, results are as follows: Name, Number of races Played, 1st, 2nd, 3rd : Total points sp4rk 17, 8 , 4, 1 : 33 U.F.F.E 17, 4, 2, 1 : 17 Si|ent 17, 3, 2, 1 : 14 Kreska 17, 0, 3, 1 : 7 ^TT^ 16, 0, 1, 4 : 6 MAD_BOY 10, 1, 0, 2 : 5 Jigga 11, 0, 2, 1 : 5 Maccer 17, 1, 0, 1 : 4 Jani, 15, 0, 1, 2 : 4 Knoxville_ 14, 0, 0, 1 : 1 BTH 6, 0, 0, 1 : 1 Red, 17, 0, 0, 0 : 0 Erock 3, 0, 0, 0 : 0 Palster 1, 0, 0, 0 : 0
  15. It was explained in IRC before we started that there was no way to automate the order of the races therefore they would be started manually, meaning 'race end, new map autoloads, forced load of actual map wanted' at the start of each race. If you had paid attention you would have seen this. No map was repeated (except for the server choosing to start it before it was overridden by our map choice) as stated before, some courses are run with more than one vehicle type. None are 'the same' however. MatthewMc, It's a shame you had problems, no password is required to connect to the irc so I'm not sure of the problem.
  16. It would still need a script creating to do it, which is what I was suggesting Theres no way for the admin connection to tell if a player is idle, you cant go simply by text, some people don't like to chat when they play.
  17. Tonight went well overall, I think we all had a lot of fun and there were relatively few teething troubles for a first event of this kind. The h2so4 boys showed thier class and I suspect thier points tally will be fairly high once I have calculated the results (either tonight or tomorrow afternoon). Some maps showed weaknesses that will be fixed for the next round, such as hoop checkpoints being too small for multiple aircraft in one race, and a conjested start in another (not a race made specifically for SARL). Unfortunately some less than sporting driving was seen on a few occasions too but hopefully a reinforcement of the kind of sportsmanship expected shoudl prevent this from becoming an issue. Heres a few screens of the action for you to look at while I calculate the results
  18. Perhaps make an !idler trigger that notices or pm's your admins on irc in the case of one or two idlers holding things up(if they arent actively watching the server)
  19. Caused by a crash, a crash that can usually be prevented by updating your drivers, which I suggested. Obviously you are happy to crash regularly and relieved simply not to reboot each time. Fine, just do as slick suggested and treat the sympton not the problem. I sometimes wonder why any of us bother tryign to help people like you when it's thrown back in our faces. By the way, next time you post something covered before, ignoring the forum rules in the process, don't expect a response as polite and advisory as mine was. You obviously aren't mature enough to take such a reply in.
  20. Enjoy your game [xii]razor. Red UK has been in touch and has made a few changes to the big boost map that was to be included in tomorrow nights meet, apparently vehicle-change pickups have been removed to place it in the straght race category rather than the 'anything goes' chaos category. The route remains the same however so no need to download the new version for practice purposes.
  21. Because it is impossible to get everyone together (or see that they are), or answer questions quickly and organise things on the fly as you can with a 'live' format like IRC, the forum is also too public for server password details. To name but a few reasons
  22. It should be noted that there will be many such meets, held at different times and on different days. Missing some won't disqualify you or 'knock you out' of the competition. It just means you will miss a few oppertunities to score points. This will show relatively clearly in the league table though, in a played #, won #, points # format. It's fairly likely that most entrants wont make every date so it should even itself out over time hopefully.
  23. Surely the fact it is trying to load a .jpg rather than a .map is a problem?
