RE : GTAT Updated 0.5 Featurelist, READ and become excited!
Cray replied to DracoBlue's topic in Other GTA Mods
I think everyone knows this, so we don't need to have a seperate thread. -
Along with the Join Flood Fix, this is a strong possibility in a Server Fix we will be releasing at some point (0.3.1 Server most likely).
-
C'mon now, although hilarious, that isn't right. Locked
-
There is every possibility of doing both, if the Team decides to do that. Option 1 will take less time, as it is just a matter of locking down the islands (so people cannot travel between them), and then populating each of them seperately. Whereas Option 2 requires some further research (a bunch as already been done), to make multiple islands work properly together. But, as I said, the Client will allow for both options as long as we split it into seperate Game Modes (3 for each individual cities, 1 for all 3, or something along those lines), but it is a matter of time, since doing both Options will be a lot longer then expected.

Sorry, the permissions were not setup properly to vote in here. Should be fixed now.

Guys, look at the date of the original posting. This was a stupid attempt to revive this very very old posting. I am going to lock this thing.

As you may or may not have noticed, development of the GTA3 version of MTA has slowed dramatically due to some recent limitations we have found, mainly regarding island switching. It seems that islands are handled very differently within GTA3, which in the end is making our life much harder. So, we are left with some options as to the direction of the mod, and therefore we call on the community to help us try and make a decision as to which method we should choose. Option 1: The first option is to split each island into its own "Game Mode", meaning each Server will be running its own island and you will not be able to travel to other islands (except for MAYBE the Dodo). This will be similar to the Stunt and Regular Game Modes that currently exist for MTA:VC, where they are completely seperate from one another and only a single Game Mode can be active on the Server at any given time. This sort of setup will allow us to pack each island with as much stuff as we possibly can, and will guarantee that the maximum number of connected players are active on the same island at any given time. This, in theory, will result in better deathmatch-like gameplay as there will be more players in a smaller area, along with as many vehicles and pickups we can push onto each island. Option 2: The second option is to keep all three islands active and only allowing travelling to and from an island through the usage of some sort of teleport. Each island will be handled seperately from one another, but they will still all be on the same Server (meaning, if the Server has 32 players, then they can be spread across all 3 islands). We haven't determined how much / little data we will be able to send back and forth between the islands, and therefore can not say if we can do Dodo flying, or if you will be able to keep your weapons through the teleport. This sort of setup will still allow us to pack a lot into each of the islands, but not at the same level as individual game modes. There will still be plenty of vehicles and pickups for each island, but the connected players will be more spread out, resulting in a free-roam style of play which we see in MTA:VC (although spread across 3 islands now, instead of just 2). Both options will result in the same features that the other one does, such as passengers, animations, etc..., but the style of gameplay will be heavily affected by the communities decision. We will not guarantee that the communities decision will be the one that we choose as a Team to develop, but it will heavily influence our decision, so please think your choice before voting.

Meh, maybe I am wrong.

Get a life guys. Blatently pulling up an old thread in a forum outside of Other Mods just to get exposure for a mod that you are both affiliated with is idiotic, and will not be tolerated. I don't want to hear you bitching and complaing saying that you didn't, because you damn well did, and you both know it.
-
Actually, it is possibly and quite funny, especially when you get in a vehicle that is driving like a psycho. We did it early on in our testings, and it has been done in GTAForums.com, so check there.

Cool. Can anyone translate their online review and post an English one here? And yes, this is the second television show to do a bit on us (that we are aware of) ... G4TV being the first one.
-
Did is past-tense, meaning you are no longer developing the mod. Thanks for coming out, I DO appreciate it.
-
Pretty sad that you are both in the same team and need to use our forum to discuss what you guys do. Sounds like you run a real tight / professional ship over there. Good work.

I believe MTA is included in the Debian apt-get registry or whatever it is called. Try getting it from there, or update your lidstd libraries.

Thanks for your interest and kind words. Although the new team page (when it is eventually put up) will shed more light on our knowledge, I can safely say that many of the programmers on the team are currently studying programming in some sort of a University and College, and all of us have many years of programming experience behind us. As for yourself, if you would like to toss me an email at [email protected] with some information as to what you specialize in, previous projects and what areas you think you could actually help us in, I will be sure to look at your requests. However, I do not make any promises. Again, thanks for your interest and the kind words.

Exposed as a cheater, wow, that is something I want to be as well. Oh, can I, will you, oh oh. Although even bad press is good press, there is still a line of being a person that is known for good, and those whom are known for bad. You my friend, are an idiot.

look at this poser that copies multiplater mods
Cray replied to {ULK}_LiNuX's topic in General MTA discussion
Anyone who has followed the many multiplayer mods for GTA can tell that this is an obvious fake of GGM. And, look at the progress counters! Dear god, what some people will do for attention. -
As an extension to what slush has said and the entire MTA Team has thought, we just want to convey our frustrations to our community. We pour a lot of time and hard work into this mod as a side project, and it really is a sad place when a few (yes, it truly is only a few) people try to ruin it for everyone else. But, I guess in the end, isn't this life? Their are always a few arrogant and ignorant people in the world that try to stand out and benefit themselves by degrading others. It is a sad place and we are really becoming frustrated to a point beyond recognition. People complain that are snappy, quick to judge, hard on "noobs", well, try to understand where we are coming from and maybe you will see why we react the way we do. This in no way justifies some of our actions, but hopefully it allows you to relate with where we come from and the problems we face. We truly do hope the new core revolutionalizes the way the MTA Community thinks and plays, and we also hope that the MTA Community understands the state of hiberation (Research & Development) that many teams members will be entering very soon. We hope the community truly does appreciate what we are trying to do and hopefully the community will help us fight back against those trying to ruin the game, the FREE game, that we are trying to provide. An old saying, help us help you.

What are you smoking? ... They have not confirmed a single thing other than confirm the rumours that we have been commenting on for the past few days. So far, we have received the only confirmation, and it really was not much at all (other than denial).
-
No contest, MTA. Cmon now, this is something you have to figure out for yourself.
-
The whole Aus. version thing is quite strange though. I was able to get a lot of it working, but still not quite to the point of release. I haven't been able to figure out what is actually going on with it, but of course if / when we do, we will release a patch. Let's hope we can figure out wtf is going on with the Aus. version, but as always, we cannot promise anything.

The MTA Admins only control the Official Game Servers, so happening in any other Server cannot be influenced by us nor will be try to resolve any conflicts caused by them. If you have a problem on an Official Server, then you may talk to us.
-
If you can Admin and Develop at the same time, then lets see it. We try hard, and too bad it does not meet your expectations. But, we will not feel sorry for those who put down our FREE efforts, and we will continue to try our hardest to bring the community an enjoyable experience.

Cray replied to TheBoas's topic in General MTA discussion
Would be nice if you posted your solution so others who may have this problem can refer to your solution here.
