I'm starting to miss MTA scripting. I've been a little out of touch with MTA in whole for a while now, which goes for both scripting and playing. The reasons are rather simple; I don't have anything to script, and I don't have anything to play. There simply aren't any active gamemodes or servers left that I really enjoy playing, and most halfway decent deathmatch servers have now gone in order to make room for another dozen of unmodified default servers/modes, race and half-finished RP/G servers. I was hoping to turn this around, since I miss all the fun I had in MTA - both playing, scripting and administrating (although the latter was a pain in the ass, too.. ). Unfortunately I'm rather out of ideas for decent modes, so I'm appealing to the community for a bit of inspiration. I'm mostly interested in getting SOME DM back in MTA without it being a default mode, a 10 minute coding job or a Simbad clone, and I mostly prefer free over "pitched" or "forced" DM (so arena-/heavily team-based modes are mostly out unless there's a really good catch to them) and apart from that, it'd be nice if there was "room" for other ideas. You can't guarantee that. If a hoster sucks too much to update regularly (1.0.4 was released two months ago, and 1.0 about a year ago) you'd probably be better off using another. Of course, bearing in mind the mod they focus on releases new versions about once every year, maybe they have trouble keeping up...

Agreed, and the last time I checked, the amount of different servers was really horrible. Almost no deathmatch, mostly undeveloped RPGs and the rest was Race servers (which I, personally, can't find interesting for very long) and assorted default modes. This isn't going to change unless people get more invested and try to take the step, though. (and that, for the record, has been said before too.. )

I'm just curious, what makes anybody think this topic isn't going off-topic just like the other two I can remember off-hand? Besides, most reasons have already been "isolated". It boils down to some kind of xenophobia (fear of the unknown), routine (when you use a program/system/game/horribly buggy mod for years, you tend to stick with it,) the social aspect (sticking with whatever your friends/clan members are playing,) or in many cases: bias and misinformation. In this case, sadly, people blindly believe certain people who're lying and censoring for their own profit, and there are many SA-MP players who think they know all there is to know about MTA even if their information is already extremely outdated. (If I had a penny for every time I heard "but mta iz just raec lulz herp derp", I could buy out SA-MP tomorrow. ) This or any combination. I think that pretty much covers it. (And then, of course, there's just the sheer fanboyism, but that's everywhere.) PS: if any SA-MPf*g feels belligerent here and wants to say that this is just an MTA fanboy speaking, let me reassure you: I was once a SA-MP fanboy too... (then turned into an MTA fanboy...) now I'm not a fanboy for either one, I just recognize which is clearly the better mod overall.

Congratulations on pasting a trick that's been common knowledge among most players for years...? And that probably shouldn't be used anyway, since the team colors are there for a reason.

The diplomacy... it buurrrnnssssssss.. Why not just say SA-MP. MTA and SA-MP are pretty much the only two online mods for GTA:SA that are worth mentioning anyway. One of those isn't worth mentioning. Actually, it is. When the imbalance has been resolved and MTA has the players it should have, THEN we can ignore SA-MP.

Um... this is kinda bullsh!t, you know? I've played SA for years and years and loathe, nay, detest rap (I think it would be more accurate with a C in front of it) and most gamers I know, both IRL and over the net, listen more to metal-type music than to any other kind. And yes, that does include SA players.

Don't confuse mods and resources. You don't install mods, they work on "program level" as integral parts of MTA. Like "deathmatch", or the old "race". Resources (which I assume is what you mean) have their own folder.

Nice. It's a little inaccurate, though - it gives the feeling that MTA's an independent game that just looks like GTA, not that it's a mod for the game. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

For one thing, there's really not a whole lot more I can say, as target versions are only a guideline which in many cases aren't all that important as the devs often pick tasks and issues based on interest, relevance and priority rather than the version Mantis says it's intended for. Come on, issues are moved to other target versions or fixed "outside of" the current one all the time. For another thing, you're not in anything even remotely resembling a position of authority here - yet in every post I can remember seeing from you, you're telling someone else what, how and where to post. Could you stop that, please? Besides, I fail to see exactly how you mean your post is better than mine. Does it answer the question? No. Provide useful information? No. Is it on topic? No. For yet another thing, the question has been asked at least a few dozen times. (Oh, and you capitalized my name wrong, sCaRFacE. )

Or just switch to the clearly better mod..
